Published by Dan Chernow (A0.1140594). As recorded by Rush on the 1975 album 'Fly By Night'. Transcription and Guitar Pro 8 notation by Dan Chernow, copyright 2022. A song written when John Rutsey was still in the band, this upbeat boogie-rocker has that debut album sound....with the exception of Neil Peart killing it on the drums of course. Alex plays around with chunky power chords and a slinky, descending chromatic riff in this one as well as having a blast with a memorable (and very catchy) wah pedal drenched solo. The major key tonality of this tune brought about some country-inspired licks in this solo as well if you listen carefully. You can tell they were all having fun with this throwback tune although this is still only their second album. Have fun learning this uncomplicated but infectious early Rush rocker. As always, all the tiniest details are included here- for the first time. I try my hardest to make only the highest possible quality- and most accurate- Rush guitar transcriptions, like they deserve. From one huge Rush fan to another, enjoy!

This event came to be called the first vision. This vision proved to Joseph Smith that God is not dead. God and His son Jesus Christ are alive and love us today. They have not left us alone here in the world to work out our own salvation. The greatest teachers and preachers of our times cannot save us for they are subject to death. Only Jesus Christ could and did break the bands of death. God talks to us today through His prophets. He does not speak to us through those who say He is gone and has left them in charge. The only way to find truth about God is to study His doctrine and then talk with Him. Ask Him if what you are learning is true. With 4,300 Christian religions on the earth today, we can know through revelation from God which is His true church. There can be only one. God told Joseph that He had a great work for him to do. God sent an angel who revealed to Joseph plates of gold. These plates of Gold were records kept by Israelite prophets in ancient America. God brought them to this land of promise before the Jews were carried away captive into Babylon. I know this is true. You can read the Book of Mormon. You can ask God for yourself if it is true. Then you too can know, for God will answer your prayer.

'I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)' arrangement for solo guitar by Antony Cull.IntroductionThis arrangement is aimed at intermediate level guitarists with a good control of natural harmonics and basic fingerstyle. The whole piece has the harmonic structure written in the chords above, which can be strummed by another player to turn the piece into a duet. Alternatively you can use these chords to accompany a singer and add the solo guitar arrangement as a introduction.Performance NotesThe first section outlines the basic harmony, often omitting notes from the chords above, to outline the melody. To keep each section distinct, keep the pace of this section slow and expressive.The next section has a celtic inspired feel, with the constant quavers throughout to drive the piece forward. Note the increase in tempo, but adjust to a comfortable speed for your ability as you are mostly aiming to play faster then the introduction. Practice this section slowly at first, taking time to choose the most comfortable finger position. Once you have the fingering locked in, work on making the melody pop out from the over all picking pattern, relax the attack on the thumb to help this.The third section uses natural harmonics to play the melody. To play a natural harmonic place you fretting finger lightly on the string above the stated fret. As you pick the string, remove your you finger and you should get a bell like tome that sounds a different pitch to the open string. Let each string ring out after each harmonic is played over the subsequent notes until another note is played on that string. In bar 19 and 23 there is a single fretted note so be prepared to switch technique on a dime. This will create a rich harp like feel to the piece that will give a really christmassy feel.The only big change in the coda is a gentle ritardando and an arppegiated harmonic across three strings. Gently place a finger across the three strings and role them off the as they are picked. Final ThoughtsI am a really big fan of tight arrangements and love constructing arrangements for my students. One of my greatest challenges is creating performance pieces for guitarists that don't sing. This is especially ponient during the holidays when everyone wants to hear all the classics. This piece is extremely musical and the harmonics are a real crowd pleaser. Published by Jack Stanley Evans (A0.964305). Silver Clouds Chasing the MoonSilver Clouds Chasing the Moon was composed in 1935 for the EMI Chinese orchestra by Ren Guang and Nie Er. It is also known by the title: Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon, which creates the image of a colourful (or silver) night sky, in which the clouds and moon chase each other. The moon is an important symbol for Chinese people, who have a custom of worshipping it, dating back 3,000 years. Every year, the mid-autumn festival is held in China, on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, which usually falls in September. During this festival, Chinese people celebrate with their families and admire the full moon whilst eating ‘moon cakes’. Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon is commonly performed during this festival and is also used by Chinese cake shops to advertise moon cakes, which increases its association with the mid-autumn festival and popularity amongst Chinese people. As well as being used to sell cakes, this piece is a staple of Chinese instrumental repertoire and has been arranged for a number of different instruments and ensembles, including solo piano, solo guzheng, guitar duo, harp duo, and wine glasses.This guitar arrangement is quite challenging; it includes a lot of intricate lines and arpeggios. Play the semiquaver sextuplets in the intro by dragging the thumb across the bottom three strings and quickly plucking each of the top three strings individually with the first three fingers. Most of this piece is played with standard classical fingerpicking technique, apart from the tapped arpeggios in bars 36 and 37.

The lower 2 strings being tuned to C and A enables many of Mozart's bass notes to remain at the original pitch.There is an mp3 audio file from the software program Sibelius which I used for writing it, but this sounds very mechanical and is only there to give an idea of the finished product.This is not an easy tune to play on 8 string, but should be very enjoyable. There are lots of opportunities to use the bass strings here. Plus this is great music by a great composer!Youtube performance to follow. See also my alternative version for 6 strings.

Arguably the most remarkable track on a newly-released album* of demos made in May 1965, this earliest-known version of Pale Blue Eyes once again demonstrates the incomparable genius of Lou Reed's songwriting. The embryonic version of one of Lou's greatest songs differs only in one vital respect from that of VU's third album of 1968, The Velvet Underground: where the demo is clearly a 'Dylanesque' folk ballad, the introduction in '68 of a jarring Blues-infused lead guitar completely alters the 'folky' feel and mood. The combination of two 'irreconcilable' tonalities produces something extremely rare and innovative in the history of Rock and Roll: Disharmony or Atonality!
