Le Juif errant (â€œThe Wandering Jewâ€) (S.300), poem by Pierre-Jean de BÃ©ranger (1780â€“1857), which was Lisztâ€™s last song before his 1848 move to Weimar. The accompaniment is derived from his piano solo of 1840, the Ã©tude de perfectionnement (S.142). Its musical material also appears in the later (1852) piano solo Ab iratoâ€”Ã©tude de perfectionnement de la MÃ©thode des MÃ©thodes (S.143). The seperate edition for Bass-baritone is in the original key of e minor. The version in c minor as reorced by Schwartz and Dibbern for Toccata Classics is available in vol. 2 for the Songs for Bass and Piano collection, also available on this site.

O lieb so lang du lieben kannst (English: O love as long as you can love) is possibly Franz Liszt's most famous song, on which the composer later based his even more famous Liebestraum n°3 in A-flat major. A vocal challenge, but of great beauty and emotion.
