Small Ensemble Alto Voice,Medium-Low Voice,Mezzo-Soprano Voice,Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1096990 Composed by French Carol - unknown. Arranged by Connie Boss. Christmas,Holiday. Score and parts. 14 pages. Connie Boss #700957. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1096990). This lovely French carol is about two women that found out that Jesus was born and that he was very special. They went around the town to let everyone know. They made food for Mary and Joseph. They warned others to be very quiet as to not awaken Jesus if he was sleeping. This is in SSAA parts with violin and piano accompaniment. It has a unique intro and the last verse has them taking turns. There are other versions on here as well. For requests or questions, email cdboss@cvalley.net. Lyrics Below: Bring a Torch Jeanette, Isabella French Carol Arranged by Connie Boss Bring a torch Bring a torch Bring a torch Bring a torch Jeanette, Isabella. Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella! Bring a torch, to the stable call Christ is born, tell the folk of the village Jesus is born and Mary's calling. Ah![a] Ah! Beautiful is the Mother! Ah! Ah! Beautiful is her Child Who is knocking on the door? Who is it, knocking like that? Open up, we've arranged on a platter Lovely cakes that we have brought here Knock! Knock! Open the door for us! Knock! Knock! Let us celebrate! It is wrong when the Child is sleeping, It is wrong to speak so loud. Silence, now as you gather around Him Lest your noise should waken Jesus. Hush! Hush! See how He slumbers; Hush! Hush! See how He's fast asleep! Softly now unto the stable, Softly for a moment come! Look and see how charming is Jesus, Look at Him there,] His cheeks are rosy! Hush! Hush! See how the Child is sleeping; Hush! Hush! See how He smiles in His dreams.

Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778347 Composed by Stephen Schwartz. Arranged by Thomas R. Vozzella. Contemporary. 7 pages. Thomas R. Vozzella #4805083. Published by Thomas R. Vozzella (A0.778347). From Stephen Schwartz’s original score for the Prince of Egypt, comes this lovely arrangement for violin and piano. The song accompanies the scene where Moses’ mother, Yocheved, attempts to save him from Pharaoh’s edict to have all the Hebrew children slain. His mother places him in a basket, sends him afloat down the Nile, just to end up at Pharaoh’s palace. Pharos’s wife finds the basket and raises baby Moses as her own. This beautiful song is sung by Moses’ mother in the animated film.

Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.936855 Composed by Natalie Maschmeyer. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. 13 pages. Natalie Maschmeyer #6131645. Published by Natalie Maschmeyer (A0.936855). Concert piece for a junior student with some experience. Suitable for use in music schools. Program Note.Ellygie was written in memory of my neighbour in Delft, where I lived for 3 years in the early 2000s. Elly was a woman who combined great strength with grace, warmth and tenderness. She showed a deep and unswerving love for those dear to her, indeed at great cost to herself. Elly sang in a local choir; in addition, she was a rare artistic talent who never complained that her opportunities for self expression were constrained by personal circumstances. Rather, she grasped whatever chances came her way with gusto. The main melody is an adaptation, in the minor, of Au Clair de la Lune. The middle section (marked 'giocoso') has a piano part based on a musical rendering of her daughters' names. One can hear the two little girls laughing and playing while their calm mother Elly (violin) reigns.Elly died at the age of 65 in February 2013.

Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550914 Composed by J. S. Bach - Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #4888241. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550914). This arrangement features the controversial Schwencke measure (ms. 27) that was originally introduced in 1783 by Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance. Duration with repeat - 4:50. Score: 6 pages. Solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as a court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. Â
