Folk songs are traditional songs that are passed down among the general public. It reflects the culture, customs, and emotions of each region and has diverse content and rhythm. “Monggeumpo Taryeong(It is also called “Jangsangot Taryeong)†is a traditional Korean folk song handed down from the Hwanghae region. “Monggeumpo†is a port, and the beach here is famous for its white sandy beaches, lush forests, and Rosa rugosa flowers. The content of this folk song consists of a sad melody and lyrics, and it contains the joys and sorrows of the fishermen's lives and the sorrowful feelings waiting for the safe return of a loved one who went out to catch fish. This music was composed in the A-B-A format. The sad part is located in the middle of the music, and the beginning and end parts were composed in an exciting atmosphere. It is usually played to the traditional Korean “jungmori†rhythm, which is also quoted throughout the piece. Attached music file is just for a reference.

The Waltz is a lovely theme that undergoes some insightful development. The finale, Gigue, is a 6/8 dance which is quite a romp and features some fast bow work on a very catchy tune. English • German.French pianist Jean-Henri Ravina was a child prodigy who came to public attention when he performed in a concert at the age of eight. The violinist Pierre Rode heard him and encouraged Ravina to go to Paris, where at the age of thirteen he became a student at the Conservatoire. After completing his own studies, Ravina was eventually to teach there, too; he gave up that position, however, to focus on his career as a virtuoso performer and composer. Concert tours to Russia and Spain secured the reputation of this pianist, who was awarded the Légion d’honneur in 1861. Ravina wrote almost exclusively for the piano: Études, Préludes, a piano concerto, a Rêverie for the left hand alone, compositions for piano duet – including transcriptions of all Beethoven’s Symphonies – and piano pieces for three and as many as six players. The stylistic influence of Rode and Chopin is evident here. Ravina’s Petit Boléro op. 62 reflects the nineteenth-century predilection for exoticism and for music from other cultures – in this case from neighbouring Spain. Ernst W. Ritter, who published numerous arrangements with Schott, also arranged this composition for violin and piano: it is a dashing, lively piece of music! Edition based on plate nos. 02372 (piano part) and 02371 (violin part), first published in 1887 as plate no. 24483.

Educated in Moscow, this child prodigy gave his first public performance at the age of nine and then embarked on his first foreign tour. He travelled to Paris, where he met Franz Liszt, who offered advice and encouragement. International appearances made Rubinstein increasingly well-known both as a pianist and composer. His musical legacy is vast, encompassing stage works, chamber music and symphonic works, vocal pieces and piano music. His Romance, originally for piano solo, comes from the collection Kamennoi-ostrow (‘Rocky Islands’) with the subtitle ‘Album of portraits for piano’, op. 10 dating from 1854. Like his more famous Melody in F, this Romance is a charming character piece. Edition based on plate nos. 02382 (piano part) and 02381 (violin part), first published in 1896 as plate no. 25957.

Here, the famous Waltz is arranged for Solo Violin and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet was in St Petersburg in 1890. Like his other ballets, Sleeping Beauty was slow to gain popularity with the public and international recognition only came after Tchaikovsky’s death. Included in the single download are nine pages of piano score and an attached four-page part for the solo instrument. Musicians at an upper intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts with a high tempo throughout. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around five minutes.
