Love Me Tender is a song composed by Elvis Presley and Vera Matson, based on the melody of an older song called Aura Lee composed during the American Civil War which was popular among the soldiers on both sides of the war, who sang it around campfires or wrote letters to their sweethearts using the lyrics. The song also reflected the sadness and uncertainty of the war, as many lovers were separated or lost their lives in the conflict. Elvis recorded his version named Love Me Tender which was recorded in 1956 and released as a single, along with the movie of the same name. The movie was a musical Western, starring Presley as Clint Reno, a young man who falls in love with his brother's fiancée after the brother is presumed dead in the Civil War. The song was a huge hit, selling over a million copies before the movie was released. The song has a simple and gentle melody, with a romantic and sentimental lyric. This arrangement for violin and acoustic guitar keeps the sentimental mood with the violin playing the melody and the acoustic guitar on the accompaniment. 4-page PDF contains complete score with tablature for guitar. Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Melodies in German) is a set of three short pieces for violin and piano composed by Austrian-American violinist Fritz Kreisler. The three pieces are titled Liebesfreud (Love's Joy), Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow), and Schön Rosmarin (Lovely Rosemary).It is not known when the pieces are written, but they were published in 1905, deliberately misattributed to Joseph Lanner.[citation needed] The pieces had become parts of Kreisler's repertoire well before September 1910, when he copyrighted them under his own name.Kreisler often played these pieces as encores at his concerts, though the pieces are usually performed separately.In 1911, he published solo piano arrangements of the pieces as Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen. The pieces have since appeared in numerous settings for other instruments, or orchestrated.Two of the pieces, Liebesfreud and Liebesleid, were the subject of virtuoso transcriptions for solo piano by Kreisler's friend Sergei Rachmaninoff (1931), who also recorded these transcriptions.

The 24-page file includes the piano accompaniments and the separate solo parts at the end. Ave Maria was written by Franz Schubert in 1825 as the sixth song in his song cycle based on Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. It is perhaps the best known of all his melodies, adapted for piano by Franz Liszt, and for orchestra many times since. It is often sung with the Latin lyrics of the Catholic hymn of the same name and has been heard everywhere from the Disney movie Fantasia to the funeral of J.F. Kennedy. The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since.The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since.These four arrangements are also available as single titles for $3.99 each. The waltz was written sometime between 1843 and 1848, but was not published until 1860, after the composer's death. The piece shows great sadness, while enclosing some episodes that hint at happiness and hope. The first theme of the piece uses a simple but effective melody, conveying a sad portrait, with decorative ornaments used throughout. The second theme is more interesting and lively, although it still has a certain sadness. About halfway through the piece, there is a modulation into A major, featuring a happy and joyful melody. The piece concludes with the main theme, followed by a short coda. The Level is Intermediate/Advanced Intermediate and the duration is approximately 2.01 minutes. Francis Ball was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and currently lives and performs in Las Vegas. His Words This collaboration began with a powerful name. I asked Mercedes to listen to and name an early piano composition I wrote. Her reply was “Beyond Her Only Dreaming.” The original composition was ultimately scrapped, but the name stuck with me. It inspired the muses whispering in my haunted ear. I wrote five musical tone poems that were loosely based on a woman’s dream. During the creative process, I asked Mercedes to listen to the tones and use her imagination to create sketches for each section. Her spoken poetry powerfully frames a woman’s dreams, fears, desires, and hope for love. They blend seamlessly with the music and are so masterfully written that they create a picture frame to use as structure but leave the canvas blank. This allows the listener to also take part in this collaboration and paint their own visions of how they experience the music. J.F.B.Her Words I’m a dreamer and writer of words, but I love music. When John asked me to name his original musical piece, I was delighted. I had recently written a story based on Robert Chamber’s famed The King in Yellow collection and, due to the sound and feel of John’s piece, loosely named the composition after my short story. John took this title and created a brilliant new musical composition. After listening to it, I was influenced to create spoken- word pieces that match the emotion of the music while also hearkening back to the original short story. In 1889, a struggling composer called Pietro Mascagni heard about a sponsored competition for one-act operas, specifically for young Italian composers who had not yet had an opera performed, only two months before the deadline. With little time, he selected the subject for his opera and asked his childhood friend, Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti (who was helped by Guido Menasci), to write a libretto for him. Mascagni selected a story that he had seen as a play in Milan in early 1884 by realist writer Giovanni Verga, “Rustic Chivalryâ€, or Cavalleria rusticana. A passionate love tragedy featuring seduction, adultery, revenge and murder, it is surprising set on Easter morning.Mascagni received only a few verses at a time from his librettists, but he was not worried because he had the opera clear in his mind: “I identified with the drama to such an extent that I felt it within myself in terms of music.†After two months’ of work, the music for Cavalleria rusticana was finished but he feared the opera would fail and put the music in a draw. Fortunately, his wife sent it off, he unanimously won the competition and was soon the talk of Europe. (At the premiere in May 1890 in Rome, Mascagni received no fewer than 60 curtain calls.) Unfortunately, it was a one-hit wonder with Mascagni unable to repeat its success, saying towards the end of his life that “it is a pity I wrote Cavalleria first for I was crowned before I became king.†He died, penniless, in 1945.Today, few people have heard of Mascagni’s name, and, if they have, it is rarely in relation to anything but one piece from Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. It is written in the key of G minor for the first two sections. The first time through the violin has the melody and the second time the piano takes the melody whilst the violin embellishes the theme. After a short link it arrives in G major and the same format takes place with variations of the embellishments before a small coda section to finish. I wanted the piece to sound through-composed with just the two sections. It is also more of a duet between violin and piano with both sharing the material. Would make a lovely concert piece or addition to the repertoire. It is 4 minutes long -Intermediate level, but the whole score is on here for you to assess suitability.Price is for score and parts.

She showed a deep and unswerving love for those dear to her, indeed at great cost to herself. Elly sang in a local choir; in addition, she was a rare artistic talent who never complained that her opportunities for self expression were constrained by personal circumstances. Rather, she grasped whatever chances came her way with gusto.The main melody is an adaptation, in the minor, of Au Clair de la Lune. The middle section (marked 'giocoso') has a piano part based on a musical rendering of her daughters' names. One can hear the two little girls laughing and playing while their calm mother Elly (violin) reigns.Elly died at the age of 65 in February 2013.
