The top note for the violin is the D above the staff (D6) but this occurs only once. The piece is for intermediate violin players who are comfortable in the upper range of the instrument. The piano part is quite accessible. It's a slow, dreamy piece which is ideal for the intermediate violinist. It would make a good recital piece or could be effective as a relaxing encore.

The problem is that many Christmas Carols are written in keys that aren’t friendly for the violin, especially for the beginner violinist, who initially learns notes in G, D and A major, whilst carols are often written in F, Eb and Bb major. So I’ve arranged twenty-nine favourite carols for beginner violin, with piano accompaniment. Each carol has the notes fully fingered, simple logical bowing, and is designed specifically for a beginner player. That means that it follows the finger pattern with your second and third close for most songs, and doesn’t utilise a fourth finger at all.

It is written in concert D major a traditional song format, with verses, choruses and middle eight. It is a slow sentimental contemplative piece written with the intermediate player in mind- the violin range is one and a half octaves with the lowest note F sharp. Bowing has been left to the performer. Full score is nine pages long, violin 3 pages, Piano 6 and around six minutes in length. The youtube link has the full score for you to assess suitability. It would be particularly suitable for a concerts, small gatherings, family occasions, weddings, church services, incidental music etc.

Educated in Moscow, this child prodigy gave his first public performance at the age of nine and then embarked on his first foreign tour. Here, the famous Waltz is arranged for Solo Violin and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet was in St Petersburg in 1890. Like his other ballets, Sleeping Beauty was slow to gain popularity with the public and international recognition only came after Tchaikovsky’s death. Included in the single download are nine pages of piano score and an attached four-page part for the solo instrument. Musicians at an upper intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts with a high tempo throughout. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around five minutes.
