For the first time in 3 years, Elijah prays for rain. In the following rainstorm, Elijah outruns Ahab’s chariot returning to Samaria. But the next morning it seems as if nothing has happened. Jezebel still has her 400 prophets. She sends a message to Elijah that he will be killed.♫ Elijah is discouraged and defeated. Did Mt Carmel really mean nothing? He runs for the wilderness, complaining to God. He is so disheartened that he asks God to take his life. He makes a pilgrimage to Mt Horeb where Moses received the Law, fasting for 40 days, still complaining. He yearns for God to answer him. As at Mt Carmel, God had demonstrated His power at Sinai with thunderstorm and lightning. Elijah is evidently expecting large dramatic gestures for God to reveal Himself. But now God will teach Elijah that He also acts in ordinary, quiet ways, as will his continued ministry♫ 8 Themes were used to create this movement: 1. Ahab (based on Movement 2, theme 3) 2. Jezebel (based on Movement 2 Theme 4 – Atonal) 3. Elijah's Excuses (based on Movement 2 Theme 2 in Dorian Mode) 4. Elijah's Depression (Based on Movement 2 Theme 2 in Dorian Mode) 5. God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (based on Movement 1 Theme 1 in Aeolian Mode) 6. Windstorm (Modified Dorian Mode) 7. Earthquake (tritones and clusters) 8. The northern 10 tribes, once faithful to Yahweh were virtually pagan. The prophetic ministries of Elijah and Elisha were used by God to produce a cluster of miracles that had a special purpose in the life of the nation. ♫ Besides the golden calves made by Jeroboam, the Israelites worshiped Ba’al, the supposed god of thunderstorms and fertility. The worship of Ba’al and his consort Asherah became popular, (not surprising since their representations were pornographic and the temples employed prostitutes of both genders and homosexuals for the use of worshippers.) The miracles of Elijah (involving drought and famine, flour, rain, and lightning mark a contest between Ba’al and Yahweh to show who really controls the seasons, the weather and harvests.♫ The movement is made of 4 themes: 1. Ahab – Polytonal (G Mixolydian over F Mixolydian) 2.The Mercy of God (Aeolian Mode) 3. Elijah - Polytonal (G Mixolydian / F Mixolydian) 4. Famine Theme (G Mixolydian over F Mixolydian). Carmel is the ultimate contest between Ba’al and Yahweh. From morning until nearly sunset the 450 prophets of Ba’al did everything humanly possible to get Baal to show himself as the god of thunderstorms and fertility as the people of Israel watched. They even cut themselves to add human blood to the animal sacrifice. At twilight, Elijah rebuilt the altar of God, prepared the sacrifice and prayed. Fire from heaven (lightning) not only struck the altar but consumed it completely and evaporated the water that had drenched it. The people fell on their faces and declared “Yahweh is God! ♫ This movement is based on four themes: 1. God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Lydian Mode) 2. Elijah (Dorian Mode) 3. Ahab (Mixolydian) 4. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20911). Die Sonate op. 38 entstand im November und Dezember 2000 und ist das einzige unmittelbar autobiographische Stück, das ich bisher komponiert habe. Es ist dem Gedenken eines toten Freundes gewidmet, den ich 17 Jahre lang aus den Augen verloren und im Sommer 2000 auf dem Friedhof wiedergefunden habe. Ein während der Zeit unserer Freundschaft im Herbst 1983 entstandener Plan für eine Violinsonate konnte nun verwirklicht werden. Die Initialen des Widmungsträgers – A.F. – beherrschen die gesamte Struktur des Werkes. Der erste, in unaufhaltsamer, wilder Bewegung voranstürmende Satz speist sich aus zwei ausladenden gesanglichen Themen, das erste aus dem Intervall A – F, das zweite aus dem Intervall (E)S - H gewonnen, die von unaufhörlichen Sechzehntelbewegungen des Klaviers vorangetrieben werden. Der zweite Satz schweißt drei Formteile in einen großen Variationssatz zusammen: Zunächst Thema und fünf Variationen über Brahms’ Volkslied Da unten im Tale, dann ein variierter Scherzosatz über eben dieses Thema und schließlich eine gedrängte Passacaglia, die auf der Basis des Klanges A - F die vergangenen musikalischen Ereignisse zusammenpresst. Zum Schluss erscheint noch einmal das Brahms-Lied in entrückter Klanggestalt in der entfernten Tonart E-Dur. Der Text dieses Liedes lautet: Da unten im Tale läufts Wasser so trüb, Und i kann dirs net sagen, i hab di so lieb. Sprichst allweil von Lieb, sprichst allweil von Treu, und a bissele Falschheit is au wohl dabei. Und wenn i dirs zehnmal sag, dass i di lieb, und du willst nit verstehen, muss i halt weiterziehen. Für die Zeit, wo du g’liebt mi hast, dank i dir schön, und i wünsch, das dirs anderswo besser mag gehen. - Stefan Heucke.

Published by BFG Publishing LLP (A0.1076969). The violin book Mer r y Locomotive is especially composed for the children in first and second grade of the music school. It consists of 14 different pieces. It offers many tools for the initial development of both the right and the left-hand techniques. All melodic pieces help develop the softness of sound and stimulate smooth change of position. Based on the different methodological tasks, they are divided as follows: No. 1 - 3 – Mastering the legato and detaché techniques (rhythmic bowing) and getting to know holds and pauses; No. 4 - 5 – Connecting strings: this essential part of the technique requires the development of right- hand flexibility. Tackling position changing is also part of this section. The mastering of these main techniques largely determines the entire further development of the pupil's violin technique; No. 6 - 9 – Staccato bowing: at this stage it is advisable to learn staccato not by sharp pressure but based on a light acceleration of detaché and the separation of sounds by pauses; No. 10 - 11 – Is a combination of the legato and staccato bow strokes; No. 12 - 13 – Dotted rhythm in combination with legato and staccato bowing; No. 14 – Is a combination of all the above-proposed bow strokes in one piece; The combination of the violin pieces with accompaniment contributes to the stability of intonation and provides the necessary metro-rhythmic support. The artistically enriched material makes learning more attractive to the pupil and awakens a musical interest in classes, as a result of which the effectiveness of the educational process is significantly increased.
