String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976434 Composed by Corey de Baat. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Corey Joseph de Baat #6294523. Published by Corey Joseph de Baat (A0.976434). In the Thicket at Daybreak is an entertaining piece about the little creatures that wake up as daylight shines over a small forest. The creatures range in size and temperament from small and feisty to large and lazy and everything in-between. The piece is intermediate difficulty and is good for ensembles at the university level and higher. There are no extended techniques. It’s possible to play this piece as a string quintet instead of for orchestra but some of the divisi may take some time to sort out.

Published by Nigel Pendrey (A0.1093732). To the memory of Robert and Robert Drever father and son lost at sea on a calm night off the island of Sanday, Orkney 31 August 1999. The two had set out to collect lobster pots that day. The first sign that things were amiss was the early return of the dog, which arrived home wet and exhausted. Despite extensive searches only the body of the son has to date been found. The boat was located and raised. The cause of the tragedy is still a mystery. The title is from a poem of William Blake.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746694 Composed by Lew Pollack. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Folk,Jazz,Traditional. 26 pages. Keith Terrett #2856819. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746694). Arrangement of That's a Plenty for String Orchestra. That’s a Plenty arranged for String Orchestra, is a 1914 ragtime piano piece composed by Lew Pollack. Lyrics by Ray Gilbert (born 1912) were added decades later. A number of popular vocal versions have been recorded, but the tune remains more performed as an instrumental. The composition started out as a rag, but is nowadays played as a part of the Dixieland jazz repertoire. The song has been recorded by numerous artists, and it is considered a jazz standard. The first recording was in 1917 by Prince’s Band, and the New Orleans Rhythm Kings recorded their rendition in 1923.Television comedian Jackie Gleason used it in his shows in the 1950s and 1960s. Among the hundreds of later recordings of this standard, particularly notable versions include: Freddy Martin and His Orchestra recorded a version of That’s A Plenty in 1950. Sheet music from the 1950 version featuring Freddy Martin on the cover has the lyrics printed inside. It was recorded by Albert Nicholas, clarinet, with The Big Chief Jazz Band in Oslo on August 29, 1955. Released on the 78 rpm record Philips P 53038. The Pollack and Gilbert song is not to be confused with a 1909 song of the same name by Henry Creamer and Bert Williams. String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742492 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #5041947. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742492). Around the year 1726, John Walsh, a London music publisher, created a wonderful forgery in order to run around the copyright laws of the day: he pretended to pirate an edition supposedly published by the House of Roger in Amsterdam. This forgery included 12 Sonatas for solo instrument and continuo which had been composed by one George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Around 1793 the House of Arnold published the same set, omitting two of the original 12 and replacing them with two others by Handel. So at this point there were a total of 14 solo sonatas available to the public. In the year 1879 Friedrich Chrysander issued these 14 works and several others in volume 27 of the German Handel Society’s Gesamtausgabe of Handel’s works. Since then they have been edited from this scholarly work many times, and afflicted by all sorts of permutations which reflect the various styles of performance in vogue over the years. One finds editions stripped of ornamentation but loaded with articulation and dynamic markings at one end of the spectrum, and editions with modest stenographic and florid ornamentation at the other. The Sonata in C Minor (London: 1712) is a pure example of the middle phase of the solo sonata da chiesa [church sonata]. The first three movements are indicative of the style found in sonatas derived from the disruptive canzona of the early 17th century. An initial slow movement with walking bass is followed by an imitative movement (in this case, a fugue with a chromatic subject), which in turn leads to an Adagio. This latter movement in the relative major is a ricercare containing several imitative entrances. The finale is a spirited binary-form Bourrée angloise, an item taken over from the French ordre or dance suite. The extraordinarily short length of this movement seems to indicate that a trio is missing here; therefore, I have added the bourrée from the Royal Fireworks Music of 1749 to act as a trio, but players are certainly free to omit it. Adding a series of variations based on the chord changes of the Bourrée angloise would be an alternative way to lend weight to this final movement.Taken from https://www.idrs.org/scores/Lehrer/DRArch/69HandelSonataCm.html

Since antiquity, from the Renaissance to the Baroque to the present day, the legend of the fabulous empire of women at the Black Sea has stirred the imagination of mankind and has been expressed in works of music, art, literature and film for centuries. It was decisive in naming the largest river and rainforest in South America when the early Spanish conquerors believed the first humans they saw there were Amazons. Since the 2000s, the topic has also become the focus of feminist research and, remarkably, has also given its name to one of the world's largest high-tech corporations, AMAZON. THE AMAZONS - Myth and Projection thematize elements of this background in a musical way in a work for string orchestra or string quintet. Powerful, pathetic and emphatically rhythmic figures refer to the ancient description of this self-confident, strong and warlike equestrian people. They alternate with baroque, polyphonic and lyrical scenes, like a journey through time with a look back through the centuries. DIE AMAZONEN - Mythos & Projektion; LES AMAZONES From the Album: ACTION, THRILL & SUSPENSE by Rainer Fabich Concert piece for strings String orchestra (violin 1+2, viola, cello, double bass) or string quintet 48 pages; Duration 6:30.

In this arrangement, while borrowing something old (sotto voce quotes from Pachelbel's famous Canon in D (here in G)), the something new 80s Pop/Country sound blends with the classical into a timeless tapestry. I've always thought of this classic by Lee Greenwood as the perfect song for a wedding or an anniversary, but, in reality, its lyrics are so grateful and sincere that it could just as well grace a birthday, a memorial, or any other sentimental, friendly gathering.Due to unforeseeable technical problems, parts do not always print to PDF correctly, so please let me know of any problems with printed parts, and I can send you an updated version. Ear players improvise. Today’s well-rounded students need instruction in both. Creative Strings is a collection of works designed to lead beginning to advanced students through their first experiences as improvisers. Each piece is composed of four parts that can roughly be described as melody, harmony, accompaniment and bass line. All four parts are available for the violin, viola and cello. The bass has one part. An optional piano part is also provided. The the ideal distribution is Vln. 1, Vln. 2, Vla. 3, and Cello 4. However the intentionally redundant parts allow for flexible combinations of instruments. If for example, no violas or cellos are available, a violin choir could still cover the parts. The same would hold true for a non-traditional quartet such as 3 violins and 1 cello or any other grouping. Overlapping parts can also be used to equalize an unbalanced orchestra such as 20 violins and 1 viola player by having some of the violins double the viola part.Learn more about Bradley Sowashhttp://bradleysowash.com

Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.1266273). The autograph is held in the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino (I-Tn, Giordano 34, Bl. 100-102). It is the only known copy of this work. The work was surely composed between 1725 and 1734.[2]  It is copied in full score format. In the known catalog of Vivaldi’s works we find another piece that shares the same title, it is the Sonata à 4 al Santo Sepolcro (Sonata in E flat major RV 130). Both pieces feature a similar structure: a slow introduction and a fugal movement.Sepolcri, or oratorios for the sepulchre, were a kind of composition that was performed at the Viennese courts during Holy Week. These were semi-staged oratorios. The examples that survive by Caldara or Fux show how the introductions of these oratorios always had the same scheme: a slow introduction followed by a fugal movement, just like the RV 169 and RV 130.These compositions are undoubtedly inspired by the Viennese, although it seems unlikely that Vivaldi wrote them as a commissioned work. However, it is possible that they were composed to support his application to the Viennese court. It is also quite probable that these pieces were intended to accompany some of the liturgical actions that were celebrated between Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday, such as the visit to the Sepulchers in Venetian churches.

Published by Ron Flintjer (A0.1153136). It's the end of a long day in the Old West. The cowboys have unsaddled their horses, lit the campfire, and can't wait for grub to be served! After chow, they lay on their bedrolls, reminiscing about their hometowns, their adventures, and maybe the gal they left behind. When it's time to settle in for the night, they watch the clear skies above and maybe point out a shooting star or two. Then it's time for sleep, before another hard day on the trail arrives too soon. Written it 3/4 time, The Cowboy Waltz is a relaxing, comfortable piece for Beginning String Orchestra. Watch out! You might just catch some of your audience snoozing - along with the cowboys - afterwards! This chart has three part harmony, as the second violin and viola play the same part as do the cello and string bass. Your first violin is on his or her own!

Published by MA Lass & I Lass (A0.1368932). Five Australian Scenes for String Orchestra was conceived with specific iconic Australian places in mind, as well as with the intention to convey the experience of these places programmatically through the music. From this point of view, the pieces could have just as successfully been called Australian Days. As such, each piece represents a kind of day journey in microcosm, like a travel diary set to music. The points of interest in each day are indicated sequentially in the music. The pieces were written with the intermediate student string orchestra in mind. As such, they explore a wide variety of string techniques, dynamic and tonal contrasts, styles, and moods. Although the writing never takes a student out of first position barring one solo cello passage, and the fingering avoids the use of cello forward extensions and minimises high 3s for the upper strings, the technical, rhythmic, ensemble, and intonational challenges put these pieces at the intermediate level. There are ossias and other alternatives for greater challenge or greater ease. Fingering has been offered where appropriate. And bowing has been meticulously indicated. This particular piece, Snowy Mountains, is set in the alpine region of Australia, in Thredbo in the state of NSW, which is a popular ski resort. The scene opens with the majesty and austerity of the alpine mountains. Then, the cold sets the teeth chattering and the feet stamping with a paraphrase from Vivaldi's Winter from The Four Seasons but which transforms into the iconic Australian song, Waltzing Matilda. From there, fun is had in the snow followed by the journey up the ski lift to the top of the ski fields. Then, of course, there is the exhilarating ski journey down the mountain! After more fun in the snow, the day ends, everybody tired but happy!

There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms.
