String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1181382 Composed by Viktor Kosenko. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. 20th Century,Children,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #781223. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1181382). Ukrainian and Soviet composer, Viktor Kosenko (1896-1938), was a highly regarded concert pianist, concertmaster and educator. Kosenko began his formal training at the St. Petersburg Conservatory as a composition student of Mikhail Sokolovsky. While in school he served as concertmaster of the Marinsky Theatre. Aleksandr Glazunov, the Director the Conservatory, was greatly impressed with Kosenko and spoke highly of his work.  Regarded by his contemporaries as a master of lyricism, his first compositions were markedly influenced by the works of composers such as Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Tchaikovsky and his fellow Ukrainian Mykola Lysenko.  During his short career he composed over 100 works for piano in a total of about 250 musical works. Other works include his symphonic Moldavian poem, choral and folk music arrangements, violin and piano concertos, trios and string quartets. During the 1930s Kosenko became dedicated to writing music for children. His first compositions for children were Four Children’s Pieces for piano (1930; this arranger has scored these four works for violin and piano, flute and piano, and cello and piano, as well as string orchestra). This work is one of five I have scored for as a Second Suite for String Orchestra from the twenty-four piano works for children he composed in 1936 (The First Suite is available from Carl Fischer). If you purchase contact me about a set of parts and a wav recording at debbaut@gmail.com, subject line Kosenko.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922634 Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Aaron Meier. Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 1 pages. Aaron Meier #5792359. Published by Aaron Meier (A0.922634). Original by Johann Strauss II Reduction to String Orchestra by Aaron Meier Part: Violin I True to the original work by Strauss, this reduction for string orchestra features the ornaments and mystical writing that defines Strauss' polkas. There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). Difficulty: Intermediate-advanced - advanced (best-suited for advanced student ensembles) --- Performance Notes: • Approximate length: 3:30 minutes • 1st Violins: In m. 1, trill a half step from a D♠to a D♮ • 2nd Violins:  - At m. 42, divide players by 3, with 2 players playing line A and the remaining player playing line B  - At m. 72-75, emphasize the E♠in the div. • Snare Drum: The buzz roll needs to be quieter than how it is played in the midi recording (*see YouTube link ↓) History: The Olga-Polka itself owed its creation to a Russian royal wedding which took place in St. Petersburg on 28 August 1857. On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms. String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889429 Composed by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Christmas,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. Score and parts. 17 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4727333. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889429). „Improvisation On Tchaikovsky`s Cherubic Hymn. It is an original Harp improvisation to be accompanied by an adaptation for strings inspired by Tchaikovsky`s choir piece „Cherubic Hymn. The harmonic structure of Tchaikowky`s original work has been faithfully reproduced, so all credits for this piece goes to him. Rather than an arrangement, the outcome of this adventurous experience resulted in an improvisation for the Harp. With the added melodies on the Harp and the stringed instrumental caracter of the orquestral adaptation, the piece gains a stronger tone contrast, keeping at the same time its deep spiritual beauty, thus bringing it to a wider range of public and performance choices. it is very easy to perform, yet it moves deeply both performer and public. The piece is appropriate for beginner students. It can be used in serious concerts and all kinds of cultural events. It is a very Spiritual piece, it induces a wonderful mood in Baptism or Christmas celebrations. One can get married to it. The piece is also appropriate to honor someone in a funeral. Although this score was composed in full intent to be performed as written, the Harp part can be played by itself and the orquestral arrangement from the Hymn can also be performed without the Harp. This score was conceived so that without adaptations, the Harp the orchestra and the original Choir could perform at the same time. Or intercalated „Ad Lieb, the Harp with the choir, or the orquestra with the choir. Instead of a full string orquestra one can also use just a string quartet and a doublebass. A Little Historical Note. „The Cherubic Hymn is part of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom written in the fourth century by the Byzantine saint, honored as such by both Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. In the context of the liturgy, the hymn is sung during the most mystical and spiritual part of the service as a prelude to the transubstantiation of bread and wine into the real presence of Our Lord. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the inspiring Master and genial composer with whom I had the happy causality to write this improvisation or „collab was born in; 25 April/7 May 1840 – 25 October/6 November 1893, was a Russian composer of the late Romantic period, he created an outstanding number of unique musical masterpieces. Tchaikovsky was honored in 1884, by Emperor Alexander III, and awarded a lifetime pension. Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love the wonderful painting and cover design, this work is dedicated to her. Special Thanks to Tchaikovsky, Nina and Stray Queen Mimi, Carlinhos, Maria Pontinha, Maria Joaninha, Schwarzenegger, Maria Koboldinha. For all Living beings on Earth, for all our Ancestors, Thank You for all of You All Your Love and Compassion. Love Forever. Disclaimer: The score was written on Finale and the sound file was produced with Garritan instruments. Thank You very much that You toke Your Time to read this text and to listen the file. Published by Graham Boag (A0.1305018). As a younger music student, I played Classical Guitar and always wanted to play this but for whatever reason I just could not master the tremolo effect needed. It has been arranged here for String Orchestra using various techniques to try and conjure up the famous tremolo effect, along other bowing techniques to add variety to this orchestration. A little information about the piece: Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Memories of the Alhambra) is a classical guitar piece composed in Málaga by Spanish composer and guitarist Francisco Tárrega It requires the tremolo technique and is often performed by advanced players. The piece was written for and dedicated to Tárrega's patron Concepción Gómez de Jacoby in 1899, commemorating their visit to the Alhambra palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain. It was originally titled Improvisación ¡A Granada! Cantiga Ãrabe. It became known through an early 20th-century publication edited by Tárrega and dedicated as an homage to the French guitarist Alfred Cottin.

ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSWhen I was a young child and I would ask my mother for something she would often, in the midst of all her busy jobs, say to me, “Oh, give me a minuet!â€, meaning jokingly a minute, of course, before she could tend to my wishes.  This meant that I grew up believing that a minuet and a minute meant the same thing and could be equally interchanged. You can then imagine my amazement and amusement at around 13/14 years of age when I discovered through my music studies that a minuet was in fact a type of musical form and dance! Therefore, it went without saying that at some point in my music writing life I just HAD to write my Mum a minuet! So, here is the minuet she so often unwittingly asked me for throughout our lives! She attended the premiere of the Flute, violin and piano arrangement in Bolton, UK, and was highly amused (and not a little chuffed) by the story behind the piece!Naturally, the piece is dedicated to my mother, Margaret (Pearl) Denny, and was finally written in June 2015 for Gary Woolf and the Banda Di Musica in Germany. Its duration is about 7/8 minutes long and it is intended for junior strings. Violins 1 and 2 are of moderate difficulty, while the Violin 3/violas, cellos/basses are simpler. There is a violin solo throughout (moderate difficulty), to be played by the Leader, but is not a concerto-style solo, but rather one that weaves in and out of the texture throughout the piece. The piece is in a minuet and Trio style and is light, tuneful and fun. There are 3 arrangements available:No.1 – School Arrangement: Violins 1, 2 and 3, Cellos 1 and 2No.2 – Standard Arrangement: Violins 1 and 2, violas, cellos, Double bassesNo.3 – Violin, flute and piano.  This arrangement is of a more advanced standard than the string orchestra arrangements and would suit players of approximately grade 7 upwards.

Hwang Hu (The Empress), dedicated to R20, is based on the historical event that occurred about 100 years ago in Korea. In the middle of 19th-century, Korea finished its long isolation and started to be exposed and became involved in the global imperialism. With two commerce treaties, Korea opened its door to other countries including Japan. Korea’s queen Myoung-Sung devoted herself to this modernization and to keep Korea’s independence among these empires at the same time. While Japan was trying to take over the land, the queen restrained it by persuading Russia, France and Germany to intervene. The prime minister of Japan planed the assassination of Myoung-Sung since she was a critical hindrance in accomplishing their domination over Korea. In 1895, Japanese samurais intruded into the palace and murdered the queen in spite of the resistance of the royal guards.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 28 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783207. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183534). How is it that one can be born a slave in French colonial Guadeloupe and rise to be among Paris’ musical giants, to become a colonel in the French Army as well as the frequent dinner guest of princes and potentates? The story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, is surely an interesting one, even the stuff of which movies are made.Joseph Bologne’s father, Georges Bologne de Saint-Georges was a French planter. Saint-Georges was the name of his plantation. He impregnated Anne, the Senegalese slave of his wife, who bore him a son in 1745. Uncharacteristic of many of these sort of relationships he acknowledged the child was his and gave him his family name. When he was seven Bologne’s father took him to Paris for his education, enrolling him in a boarding school. Two years later he and the child’s mother returned to France and set up housekeeping as a family in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. At age thirteen Joseph’s father enrolled him in the Royal Technical Academy of Fencing and Swordsmanship. He quickly became the finest swordsman in the academy, perhaps in all of Paris. Upon graduation he was made an Officer of the King’s Bodyguard and a chevalier (an honorary knighthood). He went on to serve tours of duty in the French Army during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and later after the French Revolution, where he was Colonel and commander of an all-Black regiment of the Revolutionary Army. All this in spite of the fact that French law forbade him, a man of African heritage, to become a citizen, to retain his father’s royal title of “Gentleman of the King’s Chamber,†or to marry outside his class. There is limited information about Bologne’s musical training, but he was obviously so well-skilled that Italian violinist-composer Antonio Lolli (1725-1802) wrote two violin concertos for him and French composer François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) dedicated his set of String Trios, Op. 9 to Bologne. Lolli may have worked with him on violin technique and Gossec composition, but this may be apocryphal. Bologne played in Gossec’s orchestra, and was later both leader and conductor of the group. As a composer Joseph Bologne was quite prolific, composing six operas, fourteen violin concertos, four symphonies concertantes, and numerous chamber works and songs. His Six String Quartets, Op. 1, Nos. 1-6 date from 1770-1771 and were published by the Paris publishing house of Jean-Georges Sieber (1738-1822) in 1773 (There are a total of 18 quartets: Six Quartets “au goût du jour†[up-to-date] from 1779 and the Opus 14 set of six which date from 1785). The Opus 1 quartets are dedicated to Anne Louis Alexandre de Montmorency (1724-1812), 7th Prince of Robeck (Robecq) and Grand Duke of Spain. The Opus 1 quartets all display a similarity to the Italian opera overtures from earlier in the Eighteenth Century (often called “sinfoniaâ€) in that they have an overall “A-B-A†form with the ‘A’ sections being robust allegros and all ‘B’ sections marked “rondo.†As such, in arranging them for string orchestra it seemed quite natural to rename them “overtures.†Certain liberties were taken by the arranger in order to maintain the integrity of the classic Rondo formula. All six have been arranged in this manner for string orchestra. They vary in length from twelve to almost twenty minutes. If you wish to obtain parts, write to debbaut@gmail.com and pay $42 via venmo or $40 via personal check and they will be sent to you in pdf format.

String orchestra - Grade 2 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.OMW144 Composed by Marcia Stockton. Score and Parts. 21 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #OMW144. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.OMW144). 9 x 12 in inches.Harvest Dance was originally written in 1995 as a piece for small orchestra (strings plus woodwinds and french horns). It is a dance of unbridled joy to celebrate a rich harvest of nature's bounty. In 2013, I transcribed it from my private archive of old dusty audio tapes no one had ever heard, and with the CarsonValley Sinfonia in mind, revised it for string orchestra without winds.1995 was a low period in my life. The pressure from my job in the technology industry was relentless, and personal relationships at that time sometimes brought emotional pain instead of solace and comfort. Grasping for any ray of hope to illuminate the gloom, I turned back to my original love: music.Immersing myself deeply in the process of music creation, I rediscovered not only a talent for composition, but even more importantly tapped into the creative source of uplift, joy, and energy, the source of all gifts, that is available to every sincere person. During those years, composing music was a vital lifeline. Like the powerful beam of the rescuer's flashlight guiding you toward the daylight when you are emerging from a dark cave. Like a new baby being born. Now a great many years later, life now brimming with music and friends, and having put old sorrows far behind me, music from that time of troubles still fills me with the same joy as when I composed it, and I hope it uplifts you.Harvest Dance is dedicated to my friend, composer John O'Neill, with profound appreciation for his encouragement, as well as helping me learn the practicalities of arranging for a string orchestra.

Parts four through seven are the big band backing them up. Lends itself to costumes, dance steps and all sorts of fun and games but is also pretty technically challenging. Exceedingly fun for both players and audience. Enjoy!
