String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1368928 Composed by Martin Lass. Chamber,Children,Classical,Instructional. 28 pages. MA Lass & I Lass #953270. Published by MA Lass & I Lass (A0.1368928). Five Australian Scenes for String Orchestra was conceived with specific iconic Australian places in mind, as well as with the intention to convey the experience of these places programmatically through the music. From this point of view, the pieces could have just as successfully been called Australian Days. As such, each piece represents a kind of day journey in microcosm, like a travel diary set to music. The points of interest in each day are indicated sequentially in the music. The pieces were written with the intermediate student string orchestra in mind. As such, they explore a wide variety of string techniques, dynamic and tonal contrasts, styles, and moods. Although the writing never takes a student out of first position barring one solo cello passage, and the fingering avoids the use of cello forward extensions and minimises high 3s for the upper strings, the technical, rhythmic, ensemble, and intonational challenges put these pieces at the intermediate level. There are ossias and other alternatives for greater challenge or greater ease. Fingering has been offered where appropriate. And bowing has been meticulously indicated. This particular piece, The Outback, is set in the abandoned gold mining town of Goongarrie in the state WA. It depicts sunrise in the outback, the gradual heating up of the day, the scourge of blow flies, the searing and unbearable heat of midday, a sudden flash thunderstorm, and, as the storm clears, sunset over the abandoned town.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.732040 Composed by Traditional Irish. Arranged by Thomas Quigley. Celtic,Concert,Folk,Holiday. Score and parts. 22 pages. Thomas Quigley #4600591. Published by Thomas Quigley (A0.732040). This accomplished Irish arrangement is a great choice as a concert item. Two popular jigs are skillfully presented, resulting in a superb blend of traditional and classical, with some catchy modern syncopated rhythms in the accompaniment. Tastefully harmonized, it has a modern Celtic sound and will greatly appeal to Irish music enthusiasts. A highly recommended addition to your string repertoire!

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576182 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Opera,World. Score and parts. 13 pages. David Warin Solomons #4559. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576182). ATON is a stage play written by Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler which represents Egypt in the time of the Pharoahs but seen through the eyes of modern theatre directors and actors. The modern scenes are spoken but the Egyptian scenes require music, so Manfred and Otmar asked me to write the music for these. The music is composed for various forces as the play progresses, from the full orchestra (woodwind, strings, harp, piano, timpani) and choir down to more intimate moments with single voice or duets, flute and classical guitar or with single voice and bassoon. For each section the pdf file contains score and parts and the sound sample is an electronic preview. As I write 16 sections have been composed, but more are to come - please just search for Aton in due course for the full picture.

Published by Viola Fusion (A0.1494798). Dear orchestra-teaching colleague, If you are teaching a group of students with mixed ability levels, and you want to find a tune they will all love, add this tune to your repertoire! This spicy concerto has a light-hearted, peppy, baroque feel. l wrote it for a group of students that included a couple of advanced players, ten complete beginners who would need to perform for the first time six weeks after getting their instruments, and a core group of early intermediate players. I wanted each musician to enjoy their part, and I wanted it to be a piece the audience would rave about as they took their kids out for post-concert ice cream that evening. It still retains is zest even without the advanced part, and if you want to add a little more heat there is even space for students to write or improvise a cadenza!I hope you enjoy this piece as much as we have:).

Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #2964425. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.568524). Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, also known as Let It Snow, is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945. It was written in Hollywood, California during a heat wave as Cahn and Styne imagined cooler conditions. Here it comes easily swinging, relaxed - a perfect concert piece for the holyday season. The melody is played by all parts - including a solo for the bass register. Have fun! Instrumentation: Violin 1/2, Viola, Cello, Contra Bass Listen to the recording - a challenge for your ensemble. Original by Johann Strauss II Reduction to String Orchestra by Aaron Meier Part: Violin I True to the original work by Strauss, this reduction for string orchestra features the ornaments and mystical writing that defines Strauss' polkas. There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). Difficulty: Intermediate-advanced - advanced (best-suited for advanced student ensembles) --- Performance Notes: • Approximate length: 3:30 minutes • 1st Violins: In m. 1, trill a half step from a D♠to a D♮ • 2nd Violins:  - At m. 42, divide players by 3, with 2 players playing line A and the remaining player playing line B  - At m. 72-75, emphasize the E♠in the div. • Snare Drum: The buzz roll needs to be quieter than how it is played in the midi recording (*see YouTube link ↓) History: The Olga-Polka itself owed its creation to a Russian royal wedding which took place in St. Petersburg on 28 August 1857. On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms.
