Scherzo: Allegro.Beethoven's Bagatelles Op. 33 are quite typical of his early style, retaining many compositional features of the early Classical period.  The first bagatelle in particular is arguably one of Beethoven's most well-known pieces. While they may seem light-hearted and not to be taken too seriously, they are still well-crafted works that embody the younger Beethoven's style. The Bagatelles Op. 33 were composed by Beethoven in 1801-02 and published in 1803. Bagatelles are shorter and less complex than sonatas, often consisting of a single movement. They were intended to be played as light entertainment or as encores at the end of a concert.The Bagatelle No. 2 of Op. 33 follows a simple ternary form, with a lively and playful Scherzo character. The piece is in the key of C major and is written in 2/4 time signature. The A section is characterized by a catchy and rhythmic melody that is repeated twice, with slight variations in the second repetition. The B section, in the relative key of A minor, provides a contrast to the A section with a more lyrical and expressive melody. The B section is also repeated twice, with slight variations in the second repetition. The A section returns in its original form to close the piece. Once again writing for the wonderful Banda di musica has given me a unique chance to release an old and very special melody that has lain neglected and home-less for over 3 decades. Canzona IIThe three contrasting movements include slow, powerful chords, contrapuntal moving parts and fugue-like lively themes. This arrangement includes a violin III part which can be used if no violas are available. The double bass part, whilst making a significant contribution, could also be omitted if no basses are available. All of Emma's arrangements find creative and artistic ways to re-present original pieces in a way that suits the new instruments and ensemble whilst maintaining the integrity of the original piece. Duration: ca. 29:28 Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284, also known as the Durnitz Sonata, is a solo piano piece composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1775. It is one of Mozart's more complex and ambitious sonatas and is generally regarded as one of his greatest works for the instrument.The sonata is divided into three movements:1.   Allegro - The first movement is a fast-paced and energetic sonata-allegro form, characterized by its lively theme and virtuosic passages. Here the theme is democratically rotated among the four members of the string orchestra (excluding the bass). The harmonies are simple enough for elementary students to handle. (Note: While the piece is in D major, accidentals do occur. All parts have both c-natural and c-sharp as well as g-natural and g-sharp. While the entire piece can be played in first position in all parts, an ossia part for cello is available for those players who are able to play in third and fourth position (for the melody in the upper octave) although this ossia part is entirely optional. With an unknown number of graduates marching, the piece may be repeated as many times as needed with the melody shifting from first violins, to violas, to second violins, to celli, over and over again, ending with a coda for a fuller finish.

This adaption/arrangement is for string orchestra and optional piano. Written in the key of G and is in cut-time, it uses slurs, ties, hooked bows, quarter, half, dotted-half and whole notes. Bowings are marked including bow lifts. Fingerings include: L2 in violin 1, L1 in violin 2, H3 and C/D double stop in viola, 2 in the celli and bass. There is no 'oom pa pa' underlying rhythm anywhere in the composition. This is what gives the composition its unbalanced or 'wandering' style.

Creative Strings is a collection of works designed to lead beginning to advanced students through their first experiences as improvisers. Each piece is composed of four parts that can roughly be described as melody, harmony, accompaniment and bass line. All four parts are available for the violin, viola and cello. The bass has one part. An optional piano part is also provided. The the ideal distribution is Vln. 1, Vln. 2, Vla. 3, and Cello 4. However the intentionally redundant parts allow for flexible combinations of instruments. If for example, no violas or cellos are available, a violin choir could still cover the parts. The same would hold true for a non-traditional quartet such as 3 violins and 1 cello or any other grouping. Overlapping parts can also be used to equalize an unbalanced orchestra such as 20 violins and 1 viola player by having some of the violins double the viola part.
