String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1436705 By Pick 'n' Mix Strings. By Traditional. Arranged by Sarah McLellan. Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 113 pages. Sarah McLellan #1016845. Published by Sarah McLellan (A0.1436705). We're sure that this new arrangement of the famous New Zealand Sea Shanty will be enjoyed by string players of all levels. As with all Pick n' Mix arrangements, there are multiple part options to suit all playing levels- whether advanced players, complete beginners and all those in-between. The melodic interest of the Verses is passed between instrument sections and develops musically throughout the arrangement, whilst the catchy, repeated Chorus section provides a great hook for everyone to join together throughout the piece. The concept of all Pick 'n' Mix Strings arrangements is that you just choose the parts which are most suited to your players. We are absolutely NOT suggesting that you try to cover every single possible part! If you don't have any players on the more advanced parts, this doesn't matter at all. Alternatively, experienced ensembles might want all players on advanced parts. You may well use a mixture of some advanced parts and other simpler parts- or you could even have a very early beginner ensemble just using the parts for open strings and first fingers, with a teacher playing the main tune on piano for instance. In addition to the regular score and parts, there are also optional versions of each part with the: STRING FINGERING written in; LETTER NAMES written in; an EXTENSION SCORE; a REDUCED SCORE; an optional PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT and an optional PIANO REDUCTION. There are tried and tested suggested BOWINGS included in all string parts. However, should any music directors wish to use alternative bowings to those printed, we can happily provide versions of the score and parts without bowing on request. There are also Play Along videos available on YouTube @PicknMixStrings for all the Open String parts, in case these are helpful for practising along with!

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1435967 By Pick 'n' Mix Strings. By Traditional. Arranged by Sarah McLellan. Country,Folk,Traditional. 129 pages. Sarah McLellan #1016135. Published by Sarah McLellan (A0.1435967). This new arrangement of the much-loved traditional fiddle tune is a little gem and would be a great addition to the repertoire of any school or youth string ensemble. As with all Pick n' Mix arrangements, there are multiple part options to suit all playing levels- whether advanced players, complete beginners and all those in-between. The first half of this piece is deliberately straight-forward and will sound pleasing if you have little rehearsal time, while the second half provides the opportunity for lots of folksy double stopping fun for those wanting more of a challenge. The concept of all Pick 'n' Mix Strings arrangements is that you just choose the parts which are most suited to your players. We are absolutely NOT suggesting that you try to cover every single possible part! If you don't have any players on the more advanced parts, this doesn't matter at all. String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767392 Composed by Anon. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Christian,Christmas. Score and parts. 12 pages. Lyons Music Services #3603257. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767392). A brand new setting of this carol for wind quintet (Fl/Ob/Cl/Hn/Bssn).After a short introduction, we hear a fairly normal rendition of the tune with standard harmony. The second verse has the addition of fanfare-like motifs in the top two parts which add some sparkle to the tune. The intention is merely to heighten the feeling of 'announcement' which we get from the words. The melody is also much more decorated and placed into the middle of the ensemble. From Letter C there is an interlude of fanfares before the final verse at the grandioso. This is the loudest part of the setting and needs to sound warm, full and rich. This setting is intended to be played by any ensemble. I have kept the range used reasonable and it does not require any special techniques.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1202559 Composed by W. A. Mozart (1756 – 1791). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Contest,Festival,Standards. Score and parts. 125 pages. Jmsgu3 #800938. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1202559). Sonata No. 6, “Durnitz†for String OrchestraScore and performance parts:  Score: 66 pages. Duration: ca. 29:28 Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284, also known as the Durnitz Sonata, is a solo piano piece composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1775. It is one of Mozart's more complex and ambitious sonatas and is generally regarded as one of his greatest works for the instrument. The sonata is divided into three movements:1.   Allegro - The first movement is a fast-paced and energetic sonata-allegro form, characterized by its lively theme and virtuosic passages. The movement begins with a bold and dramatic opening statement, followed by a series of contrasting themes and variations. The development section explores new harmonic and rhythmic territory, while the recapitulation brings the movement full circle with a restatement of the main themes.2.   Rondeau en Polonaise - The second movement is a graceful and elegant rondo in the style of a polonaise, a popular dance of the time. The main theme is a lilting melody that is first presented by the right hand and then repeated with variations throughout the movement. The middle section features a contrasting theme in a minor key, which is then developed and expanded upon in the latter half of the movement.3.   Theme and Variations - The final movement is a set of six variations on a theme, which is introduced at the beginning of the movement. Each variation explores a different aspect of the theme, from playful embellishments to dramatic flourishes. The final variation brings the piece to a rousing and triumphant close.Overall, Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284, is a masterful example of the composer's virtuosity and innovation and remains a beloved and influential work in the piano repertoire. Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284 is also known as the Dürnitz Sonata because it is believed to have been composed for Count Johann Joseph Anton von Dürnitz, an accomplished amateur flautist who was a patron of Mozart.Mozart was in Munich in 1775, and he met Dürnitz there. According to Mozart's letters to his father, Dürnitz played the flute very well, and Mozart was impressed by his abilities. It is believed that Mozart composed this sonata specifically for Dürnitz, who may have performed it with Mozart accompanying him on the piano. No concrete evidence supports the theory that the sonata was named after Dürnitz, but it is widely accepted as the most likely explanation for the nickname. In any case, the sonata remains one of Mozart's most popular and beloved works for solo piano.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942083 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #4897941. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942083). If I Could I Would Chamber Concerto for StringsIn this experimental work for Strings every letter of the title is been represented by a block of music. The score is being performed by creating sentences based on the first two pages of the proportional score notation. The conductor determines the entrances and fade outs of the instruments as well the repetition of blocks of music. Dynamics are provided for specific movements and different other sentences could be also created. Could I? Would I? If I Would? Etc… Duration: approx. 7-10 minutes Apostolos Paraskevas is a classical guitarist and composer as well as an award-winning film director and producer. He has received multiple international awards for his compositions and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is the only guitarist ever to have a major orchestral piece performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lukas Foss––and the only musician who has performed there in a Grim Reaper outfit. He was the founder and served for 16 years as the artistic director of the International Guitar Congress-Festival of Corfu, Greece. He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammy's). After his undergraduate music studies in Volos he pursued advanced studies in classical guitar with Costas Cotsiolis (diploma, 1990) and Leo Brouwer (Havana 1984, 1988), as well as postgraduate studies in composition with Lukas Foss and Theodore Antoniou (DMA in composition, Boston University, 1998). Paraskevas embarked on a successful career as a guitar soloist and contemporary composer, achieving distinctions in both disciplines: Grammy nomination for Chase Dance (Bridge Records, 1999); first prize for Night Wanderings (Lukas Foss Composition Competition, 2000); first prize for Phygein Adynaton (National Composers Conference, 1997); and numerous prestigious commissions, performances, and publications. Following teaching posts at Northeastern and Boston Universities, Paraskevas has taught since 2001 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (professor of composition and classical guitar). His eclectic compositional style arises as an idiosyncratic integration of seemingly conflicting influences – from avant-garde approaches to harmonic structure, form, and timbre, to pop-folk modal and rhythmical concepts – amalgamated into a personal evocative musical language, characterized by rhythmic verve, melodic grace, dramatic (and sometimes unexpectedly humorous) gestures, and ritualistic or theatrical elements. The latter feature has also led Paraskevas to the creation of films, notably the acclaimed I Finally Did It (Gold award, California Film Awards 2010), dealing wittily with Death, a recurring extra-musical theme in his music. Published by Aaron Meier (A0.922634). Original by Johann Strauss II Reduction to String Orchestra by Aaron Meier Part: Violin I True to the original work by Strauss, this reduction for string orchestra features the ornaments and mystical writing that defines Strauss' polkas. There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). Difficulty: Intermediate-advanced - advanced (best-suited for advanced student ensembles) --- Performance Notes: • Approximate length: 3:30 minutes • 1st Violins: In m. 1, trill a half step from a D♠to a D♮ • 2nd Violins:  - At m. 42, divide players by 3, with 2 players playing line A and the remaining player playing line B  - At m. 72-75, emphasize the E♠in the div. • Snare Drum: The buzz roll needs to be quieter than how it is played in the midi recording (*see YouTube link ↓) History: The Olga-Polka itself owed its creation to a Russian royal wedding which took place in St. Petersburg on 28 August 1857. On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms. String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767382 Composed by Anon. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary. Score and parts. 27 pages. Lyons Music Services #3594313. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767382). This is a string arrangement of my brand new and somewhat quirky arrangement of the well-known Christmas Carol. I've given the viola and cello some of the spotlight in this setting. At letter D the music slips into a Jazz Waltz style and it is important to swing the quavers to gt the full effect, which produces some interesting results. and at letter F, we find ourselves creating a little Hocket, with fragments of the tune passed around the enemble - but without it losing any of its cohesion. At letter G the music returns (almost) to normal. and this reprise leads to the end. Please pay attention to all the articulations and slurs, which are very specific to create the effects. If you are bored with the traditional settings, then this is for you.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.908648 Composed by William Billings 1746-1800. Arranged by Mark Hettle. Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Goomba Publishing Company (GPC) #3114253. Published by Goomba Publishing Company (GPC) (A0.908648). I arranged this beautiful melody with the intermediate string orchestra in mind. In an effort to make it as playable as possible, I wrote the entire arrangement in 1st position only. I included a modulation to the key of E major, and some challenging rhythmic figures from letter B to letter D. It is important to note that the tempo is to remain constant throughout the arrangement. I hope you and your students enjoy playing my arrangement. Thank you! -Mark Hettle

Published by SadipG (A0.1021247). ``Classic Jazz-Rock Study # 30 is composed in the key signature of D Major. Guitar Solo with Chords accompaniment and it needs to be transposed in all key signature to understand Jazz-Rock should be focus on.If we use ``STUDY' in music then it indicates to repeat Solo (single note patterns) or Chords as many times as possible. Solo playing indeed is a tough work, without repetition of Solo or Chords with taking care of exact BPM (Beat per minute), Rhythm (2/4, 3/4, 4/4 etc.) and the flow of Chords progression to maintain all those necessary things as I mentioned above is such a hard job indeed. The repetition of Solo is purposed to make straight hand playing with those accompaniments (BPM, Chords progression, as well as per Solo Improvisation) So please follow my instruction to each letters. This's what I really meant to be about ``Jazz-Rock. Best Wishes for You All on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 B.S.!!!

A Rivendell String Orchestra Arrangement - The Pop Standards SeriesWhile the fourth musical collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, The King and I (1951) has many wonderful numbers, one lyrical ballad stands out: I Have Dreamed. This beautiful melody was also prominently featured in Aaron Sorkin's 1995 film The American President during the State Dinner scene when widowed President Andrew Shepherd (Michael Douglas) dances with lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade (Annette Bening). A truely magical film moment![The audio sample begins at Letter B, measure 21]Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/rivendellarrangements.
