Molly Malone (also known as Cockles and Mussels or In Dublin's Fair City) is a popular song set in Dublin, Ireland, which has become its unofficial anthem.The Molly Malone statue in Grafton Street was unveiled by then Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alderman Ben Briscoe, during the 1988 Dublin Millennium celebrations, when 13 June was declared to be Molly Malone Day. The statue was presented to the city by Jury's Hotel Group to mark the Millennium.On 18 July 2014, the statue was relocated to Suffolk Street, in front of the Tourist Information Office, to make way for Luas track-laying work to be completed at the old location.The song tells the fictional tale of a fishwife who plied her trade on the streets of Dublin and died young, of a fever. In the late 20th century a legend grew up that there was a historical Molly, who lived in the 17th century. She is typically represented as a hawker by day and part-time sex-worker by night. In contrast she has also been portrayed as one of the few chaste female street-hawkers of her day.There is no evidence that the song is based on a real woman, of the 17th century or any other time. The name Molly originated as a familiar version of the names Mary and Margaret. While many such Molly Malones were born in Dublin over the centuries, no evidence connects any of them to the events in the song. Nevertheless, the Dublin Millennium Commission in 1988 endorsed claims made for a Mary Malone who died on 13 June 1699, and proclaimed 13 June to be Molly Malone Day.A variant, Cockles and Mussels, with some different lyrics, appeared in Students' Songs: Comprising the Newest and Most Popular College Songs As Now Sung at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, ... Union, etc in 1884.

The Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467, was completed on 9 March 1785 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.The second movement was featured in the 1967 Swedish film Elvira Madigan with GÃ©za Anda as soloist. As a result, the piece has become widely known as the Elvira Madigan concertoHedvig Antoinette Isabella Eleonore Jensen (December 4, 1867 â€“ July 19, 1889), better known by her stage name Elvira Madigan, was a circus performer who performed as a slack rope dancer, artistic rider, juggler and dancer. She is best known today for her romantic relationship with the Swedish nobleman and cavalry officer Sixten Sparre. Their joint death caused great sensation and the event was described in song by, among others, the author Johan LindstrÃ¶m Saxon [sv] in a song beginning Sad things happen, which gained great popularity.Here's a very unlikely arrangement of it for Brass Quintet, with the Horn as soloist. The other brass instruments are also conical, providing a mellow sound. I must emphasize that it would be best not to perform this piece if the intonation, correct notes, ensemble playing, and overall musicality are lacking.

This is the first of two quintets for brass, based on three songs from the Broadway Musical, \"Annie\": \"Maybe\", \"It\'s a Hard-Knock Life\" and \" Tomorrow\". Parts are comfortably pitched for intermediate players. While designed for the traditional \"English\" brass band quintet (two cornets, tenor horn, baritone and Eb tuba), Parts 4 & 5 are also given at concert pitch. A Part 3 french horn part is provided and Part 5 is given for Bb Bass tuba. The set is excellent for both concerts and junior contests. The set comes with a full conductor\'s score. Total playing time is about 4\'20\".
