The pieces foster the ability of musical expression and are characterized by a combination of expansive baroque thematic material and charming galant features in the slow and fast movements, respectively. Telemann was considered one of the leading German composers of his time, and his works, including the Sonatas Op. 2, reflect his significant contribution to the Baroque music era. Published by JB Linear (A0.581751). Gioachino Rossini is known for his delightful Italian operas, especially the overtures, like William Tell or The Barber of Seville. Early in his life he composed a set of 6 Sonatas for String Quartet. Later, Frederik Berr, a clarinetist known by Rossini, arranged the quartets for winds (c. 1820). This setting for clarinet duet by John Gibson uses Berr's arrangement but with a considerable amount of editing needed for the only edition currently available. The music overall is not difficult, however there are sections for each instrument that require a fair amount of technique. A score is provided, however it is better to play from the individual parts due to page turn issues.

The second of a set of trio sonatas first published in Hamburg in 1733 for 2 flutes or violins & bassoon or cello here arranged for 2 clarinets in Bb & bassoon or cello or bass clarinet (in Bb). The four movements, Largo, Presto, Cantabile & Allegro are for equal players of intermediate ability and above. The editing is clearly indicated in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines so that, although the clarinets would not have been available originally, the Baroque style can be achieved in performance. The set includes a transposed part for the bass clarinet.

The eighth of twelve trio sonatas first published in London by John Walsh in 1747 for 2 violins and cello or harpsichord by William Boyce 'composer to his Majesty' George the second. Boyce had been granted the Royal Privilege and Licence in 1745 to have his music printed and sold for a period of fourteen years. The list of subscribers to the publication includes everyone who was anyone and included one 'George Frederick Handel, Esq;'.This arrangement for clarinets and bassoon or cello can be tackled by players of intermediate standard and above. Additional dynamic markings are in parentheses ( ). The musical notation has been modernised e.g. dots across bar/measure lines have been replaced with ties. In the original publication all the dynamics were spelled out in full e.g. piano instead of p .
