ISBN 9790570484225.This piece was written many years ago while I was a student at the Royal College of Music, but it received its first professional performance in 2014, in a concert at St. John's Smith Square. It falls into two strongly contrasted sections, each with its own character. The opening Andante should be played as smoothly as possible, and requires careful control of dynamics and intonation, as well as a perfect blend of tone; the Allegro is full of exuberant energy, and needs clear articulation and rhythmic precision. The 1st and 2nd clarinet parts are quite equal with the material divided evenly between them, so that the piece is suitable for two players of similar standard, and should appeal to a wide range of clarinettists. Published by David McKeown (A0.587174). Bridge Over Troubled Water, by Paul Simon, was the last song written for the last Simon and Garfunkel album. It was a huge worldwide hit in 1970, selling six million copies and winning several Grammies. Yet the song nearly wasn’t released as a single at all; radio stations at the time rarely played songs longer than three minutes and Bridge Over Troubled Water came in at five. This version is arranged as a duet for two Clarinets. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performances, with plenty of opportunity for expressive playing and dynamic contrast. The overall performance time is around four and a half minutes. The short sample audio is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version while the full-length youtube performance is the Clarinet Duet. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills. There are some challenging syncopated rhythms, though knowing the original song well will help. He titled it Moderato in Bm when it was first published as Op 67 No 5 in a volume of his Songs Without Words. It was often referred to as Heide Lied , a type of pastoral German folk song. Another title derived from that is Song of the Heather. Many current editions give it the title The Shepherd's Complaint. Â This instrumental duet arrangement takes a Romantic piece and sets it in 2 part writing. Even without the chords it is still very rich in sound and Romantic in feel. The metre is always in 3 even when the phrasing looks to be in 2; except for a section near the end where I have strayed from the original Mendelssohn and clearly marked Part II with tenutos to be in 2 against Part I in 3. I have also changed phrasing and articulation for more contrast between the two parts. This arrangement is faithful to the spirit of Mendelssohn yet freshens this beautiful old melody. The notes and rhythms are quite easy to play but I have marked it Early Intermediate because so much could be done with phrasing, articulation, and expression that would make this sound like a much more advanced piece. A great Romantic repertoire piece for students. (2 page score, 1 page Parts)

David McKeown #4729525. Published by David McKeown (A0.587665). The Trumpet Tune and Air was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was attributed to Henry Purcell. But more recently many have questioned whether the composer was in fact Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. What is known is that the piece was written for a semi-opera called The Island Princess, and that both men contributed music to the production. In recent years this piece has become a popular wedding favourite. This full version is arranged as a duet for two Clarinets and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Written In Concert E minor, I wanted the gentle tempo in the outer sections to have a medieval minor tone, to work with the contrasting major section in the middle. I very much wanted it to be a clarinet duet rather than clarinet 1 and clarinet 2, so the parts are pretty equally divided. It is romantic in nature, but uses modes and has a few interesting harmonies. It is placed at early intermediate level, about associated board grade 4/5 - dotted quaver semiquaver is the most complicated rhythm). On the youtube link there is the full score for you to assess suitability. It would be very suitable for concerts, contests, recitals, weddings as well as an incidental piece. There are 2 clarinet pages per part and the piano part has 6 pages- 5 minutes in length.Price is for the full score and all parts.

This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban Habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is in the key of concert C minor with the middle section in C major. The range is around two octaves and I have tried to keep both parts interesting and equal with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. I wanted this piece to convey the feeling of the shared warmth of having family and friends meeting over the festive season when everything is done, and now it’s time to enjoy! Written in Concert B flat major the introduction begins with a bell- like Christmas chime settling into the main theme which is almost like a verse and chorus. The piece has two of these sections with a link between the two. The second section is a different treatment to the first as some of the bell like figurations of the opening are incorporated. There is also a mix of staccato and legato phrasing to give contrast. The Chorus part is repeated before a short quiet reflective ending. The range is two octaves at most and there is nothing more complicated than an eighth note although it is moderately high- hence it has been set at intermediate level. I wanted 2 equal instrumental parts so there is no number 1 and 2! The whole piece is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.Ideal to be added to a Christmas concert list! It is 3 minutes 15 in length. Price is for score and parts.

As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions. Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..
