Tenor Saxophone Duet Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589550 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. Score. 4 pages. David McKeown #6078925. Published by David McKeown (A0.589550). Odessa Bulgar is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Tenor Saxophones. For many traditional Klezmer tunes, the first clues of their existence comes from bands making discs at the dawn of the recording era. In this case, Odessa Bulgar first appeared in a 1919 recording by Abe Schwartz’s Orchestra. Schwartz was born in Romania and emigrated to the USA around 1900, thereafter enjoying a long career in the music industry. Odessa Bulgar is a happy piece designed for dancing at celebrations. Odessa Bulgar is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in three sections; overall the tune is played twice with a coda and with constant variations in the accompaniment. Odessa Bulgar is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Odessa Bulgar is perfect for weddings, celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588479 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Folk,Hanukkah,Jewish,World. 2 scores. 6 pages. David McKeown #6017103. Published by David McKeown (A0.588479). 7.40pm is a traditional Russian Jewish tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Alto Saxophones. It isn’t completely clear where the title 7.40pm comes from. One interpretation is that 7.40pm was the time the Odessa tram conductors finished work and danced to this tune. But there are versions titled 7.40am which may refer to the time of Jewish early morning prayers. Whatever the origin, there are several Russian recordings of 7.40pm that predate the 1917 revolution.7.40pm is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589323 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. 2 scores. 5 pages. David McKeown #6022263. Published by David McKeown (A0.589323). Silver Wedding, (Die Silberne Khasene in Yiddish), is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Alto Saxophones. Jewish Wedding bands, prominent in early twentieth century New York, were well placed to take advantage of the phonograph recording revolution. Accordingly, we are fortunate to have a rich record of the musical style of the time. Silver Wedding first appeared in a 1915 recording by Abe Elenkrig’s Orchestra. Elenkrig was born in Ukraine, which may point to the origins of the tune. Silver Wedding is in a Bulgar style, a happy piece designed to escort the newly-weds from the ceremony to the feast. Silver Wedding is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in three sections; overall the tune is played twice with a short introduction and coda and with constant variations in the accompaniment. Silver Wedding is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around three minutes, this version of Silver Wedding is perfect for weddings, celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. David McKeown #6534999. Published by David McKeown (A0.594035). Ding Dong Merrily on High is a much-loved Christmas carol. This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Shuffle/Swing style for two Alto Saxophones. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet. The melody of Ding Dong Merrily on High first appeared in a French book of secular dance tunes during the sixteenth century. The Christmas lyrics we know and love were added much later by English composer and rector George Ratcliffe Woodward and first published in 1924. With a performance time around of three minutes, this version of Ding Dong Merrily on High is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz shuffle style is a fun and fresh take on this familiar traditional tune.Ding Dong Merrily on High is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Rhythms are syncopated, as one would expect in swing music, and there is plenty of articulation detail to help deliver an authentic style. While the key is straightforward, there are several chromatic passages to keep players on their toes. The melody is played twice, with short bell-chiming intros and outros. This arrangement is suitable for players at an intermediate or early advanced level.
