This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Tenor Saxophone.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around three minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing. There are some complex syncopated rhythms in the melody part and the challenge will be to tie these expressively to the repeating bass pattern which is present throughout. This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Swing style for one Soprano Saxophone and one Clarinet. The origins of the lyrics are less certain. Throughout the nineteenth century they were attributed to Martin Luther, but this version of events has since been discredited. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Away in a Manger is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal.
