ALL HARPS INTERMEDIATE + MELODY INSTRUMENT – Fifteen Traditional Tunes from Cornwall arranged for Lever harps tuned in Eb, Bb or F, or any pedal harp.  All of these arrangements fit within the 26-string range. Fifteen Arrangements of Traditional Tunes from Cornwall arranged for Lever harps tuned in Eb, Bb or F, or any pedal harp.  Guitar chords included, with duo parts for Flute or Violin.These tunes have been placed in progressive key order to create a satisfying “Cornish suite†that facilitates lever and pedal changes. All tunes were typeset to fix exactly on two facing pages to eliminate any page turns within a piece.Guitar chords are included so that the melody may be played by any C instrument, accompanied by chords on harp, lute, guitar, or keyboard. Also, the transcribed harp part can be played on any keyboard instrument with only minor adjustments. Only one song in this collection, #6, has any lever or pedal changes (B-flat and B-natural). Otherwise, there are only lever or pedal presets in preparation for the next song. Dynamic markings, fingerings, metronome markings, breath marks, and lever/pedal changes are provided throughout. However, the musicians should use whichever expressive markings and lever/pedal adjustments suit them, no matter what this book indicates! Due to space constraints, first and second endings were only indicated above the flute/violin part in the full score and dynamics only within the harp part; but these markings apply to both instruments. (However, all markings are indicated on the separate instrumental leaflet.) This entire book of arrangements can be played on a harp of only 26 strings (3.5 octaves), from low C to high G. Simply treat the C two octaves below middle C as the lowest C on your harp and adjust the octaves accordingly. It was a celebration of the toast made by Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I during a visit to German Kaiser Wilhelm II. The toast stressed the necessity of bonds of friendship between the two nations. Mr Simrock suggested changing the title to Kaiser-Waltzer to please the two emperors. However, when it was published, only the Austrian Imperial crown was emblazoned on the title page! This stunning arrangement has both a pedal harp and lever harp version that is intended to be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an occasional harmony note. The dynamics are clearly marked. The Harp Ensemble would perform for 2 hours each evening as guests arrived at the UW-Eau Claire’s annual Viennese Ball in the student center (1998-2016). The invitation was extended due to the fact that Eduard Strauss, the youngest Strauss, was a harpist. He conducted his own orchestra from his harp and toured the United States.

The premier of Charles Gounod’s new five act Opera, Romeo et Juliette, was in Paris on April 27, 1867.  It was an immediate success. In the first act, Juliette’s Nanny encourages her to marry the man her Father has chosen for her. Juliette responds with this famous arietta – singing of her hopes and dreams for her life and of the love she hopes to find. Romeo overhears her singing and falls in love with her. The original French title is Ah! Je Veux Vivre. Another English title to the arietta is Daydreams. This uplifting arrangement has both pedal and lever harp versions that may be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and occasional grace or harmony notes. There are numerous pedal and lever changes. The dynamics are clearly marked.

O'Meara Music #4621455. Published by O'Meara Music (A0.803725). In 1889 Johann Strauss, Jr. gave his Berlin publisher, Fritz Simrock, a new waltz entitled Hand in Hand. It was a celebration of the toast made by Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I during a visit to German Kaiser Wilhelm II. The toast stressed the necessity of bonds of friendship between the two nations. Mr Simrock suggested changing the title to Kaiser-Waltzer to please the two emperors. However, when it was published, only the Austrian Imperial crown was emblazoned on the title page! This stunning arrangement has both a pedal harp and lever harp version that is intended to be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an occasional harmony note. The dynamics are clearly marked.
