This arrangement is true to the original - with some minor modifications - and your cellist will welcome the challenge! The key has been changed to the key of C (from the original key of B). The Violin plays the sung Soprano line just as it is heard in the original voice parts. The Cello, however, covers not only the sung Contralto part an octave lower, but also the bass-line notes (even the downbeats on the open C-string). What Genius! What fun!

The song was written by Lennon and McCartney with the limited range of Ringo Starr’s voice in mind. The recording of Yellow Submarine included numerous sound effects and backing vocals from everyone from Marianne Faithful to Brian Jones. There has been much speculation as to what the lyrics of Yellow Submarine might mean, but Lennon and McCartney insisted it was just a nonsense rhyme for children.This version of Yellow Submarine is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello. GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕÎΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕÎΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕÎΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA).
