Homco/Crinion #1042054. Published by Homco/Crinion (A0.1463363). America the Beautiful is probably the most popular of American patriotic songs. The melody was composed in 1882 by Samuel A. Ward - an organist and choirmaster - as the basis for a hymn. The lyrics are actually a poem - originally titled Pike's Peak - published in 1895 by Katharine Lee Bates. The two never met. Amazing. Simply amazing and inspirational. This arrangement for Violin & Cello begins simply, softly and understated with the melody in the treble part and a close harmony by the cello in the alto/tenor range. The second verse brings the melody to the cello, while the violin soars high above with an obbligato descant. The third verse is grandiose, with the meoldy raised up an octave, accompanied by arpeggiated chordal harmonies. The extended ending decrescendos to a simple, muted finish.

It came to Palestine in the same year, as an advertisement for Turkish cigarettes; the tune was printed on the package. · Hayu Leilot (There were nights) was written by Mordecai Zeira in 1938 to a poem by Yaakov Orland. Though this song is little known outside of Israel today, it is one of my favorites, and I hope will become one of yours as well. You are also welcome to try some of my other arrangements. This beautiful version is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello.The Londonderry Air was first collected and notated in the mid-nineteenth century in County Londonderry in the North of Ireland, however, the origins of the melody remain unknown. In 1913 the English writer Frederic Weatherley set his poem Danny Boy to the melody. There are many other settings of the Londonderry Air, with various lyrics and in musical styles from orchestral to brass band to jazz, but Danny Boy remains the best known.Londonderry Air is simply arranged in accessible keys and over a range best suited to the instruments. The melody is played twice with a key change and different accompaniment on the second verse and is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of Londonderry Air is perfect for recitals and concert performance. This arrangement adapted for violin and violoncello duet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions.Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy.

There is no record of the tune’s composer, but the words are a setting of a poem by the Jewish Ukrainian writer, Sholem Aleichem. Má Vlast ('My Homeland' in Czech language) is a set of six symphonic poems composed between 1874 and 1879 by the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana. While it is often presented as a single work in six movements and - with the exception of Vltava - almost recorded that way, the six pieces were conceived as individual works. They had their own separate premieres between 1875 and 1880; the premiere of the complete set took place on 5 November 1882 in Zofin Palace, Prague under Adolf Chech, who had also conducted two of the individual premieres.
