Score and parts. 3 pages. Phil Beaman #6026381. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844957). In 1848 Robert Schumann wrote a set of piano pieces for his daughters which he called Album for the Young. One of the songs in that book was titled Nordisches Lied, which is usually translated as Northern Song, or I use the alternate translation of Norse Song. The original was Romantic Folk style with thick chords which I have simplified and arranged into ornamented 2-part Baroque style. Besides giving the symbols I have written out my suggested ornaments in cue notes. Continuing in Baroque style I used terraced dynamics on each alternate line and further denote them as delicately or boldly. The ornamentation is all in the upper melody; the lower part is a fun contrapuntal walking bass line of entirely quarter notes (crotchets). I have arranged it into ABBA form.

This Trumpet and Trombone Duet arrangement was written to maintain the original work’s characteristics, for young music students entering symphonic music or professional musicians for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations, and didactic material. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one key change for comfortability. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 was completed in 1812 and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Symphony No. 7 was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his “most excellent symphony,†and a music critic of the time reported it as the most melodically rich and comprehensible of all Beethoven’s symphonies.

Sing Joyfully William Byrd - Brass Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.William Byrd was the greatest British composer of the late Renaissance. and just maybe, the greatest British composer ever. He wrote a huge body of choral music, some of it profound and timeless. He also composed brilliant, virtuoso pieces and his motet-like anthem, Sing Joyfully, a polyphonic setting of Psalm 81, written in 1590, is perhaps his best-known one. It is enchanting to listen to and fun to sing. Regis Bookshar thought that instrumental performers should have the same opportunity that singers have experienced for years, so he has now transcribed, edited and arranged this wonderful composition for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles, including this one for a Brass Sextet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets and 3 Trombones.Since no tempo is indicated and there are no written dynamic or phrase markings in William Byrd's original score, Regis Bookshar has taken the liberty to included them in order to provide direction and life to the piece. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students, and perhaps even some younger students. It is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, but could be performed for any occasion.
