This score is a flute and harp duet arrangement of “Concerto pour une voix" (Concerto for One Voice), a crossover contemporary classical / pop song written by French composer Saint-Preux in 1969. It was originally intended as a purely instrumental piece for trumpet and strings, but after hearing French singer Danielle Licari practice in a recording studio, Saint-Preux decided record his work with her. She sung the solo trumpet part using a vocalise technique similar to scat singing in jazz to imitate a brass instrument. The song, which doesn't bear any lyrics, was a thunderous success upon its release and made both her career and his.
The PDF file includes both the score and parts. It is suitable for advanced students as well professionals looking for a popular addition to their repertoire. Duration: 4’30.

This version is the third best-selling physical single recording in the history of recorded music. The record for most copies ever sold goes to Bing Crosby. He released White Christmas in 1942 and sold 50 million physical copies.

Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. "It is five o'clock, Paris awakens" (Il est 5h, Paris s'éveille) is an iconic 1968 French song by singer-songwriter Jacques Dutronc. It has been covered by artists such as Sylvie Vartan, Jacques Le Glou, Ange, Zaz and An Pierlé, and was voted the best French-language single of all time, beating Jacques Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" into second place. The song features a famous, playful flute solo improvised by renowned classical flutist Roger Bourdin on the day of the recording.
Flutist Myriam Darme and harpist Maia Darme of “Traversées” arranged the hit for flute and harp duet. This is the version they perform live in concert, as heard in their Youtube music video (https://youtu.be/hEkwpnmKm0U). The harp handles the melody and upbeat accompaniment while the flute responds with an elaborate birdlike counterpoint.
