Who We Love by Sam Smith is a moving ballad that has beautiful harmonic integrity. This arrangement is for average- to larger-sized SATB a cappella groups, and sits at a intermediate-advanced difficulty for high school/collegiate groups. This arrangement is similarly for the a cappella group looking to explore cluster chords while fulfilling a slow, but moving ballad slot for your song set. While there isn’t a vocal percussionist part in the score, there is a slight amount of body percussion involved in the second verse, which can be replaced by a vocal percussionist if desired.This arrangement features incredible harmonies, including many cluster chords that sound full and rich; these cluster chords are often met with two- and occasionally three-part splits within each voice part, which makes it crucial for each part to be solid. If your group does not have enough members to satisfy the three-part splits, one of the notes can be omitted for a similar sounding product. Additionally, there are two solo opportunities featured, each with the exact same range. If only one solo is desired, the soloist can simply follow the melody. Lyrics: There Is a SpiritThere is a spirit which I feel that delights to do no evil, nor to revenge any wrong, but delights to endure all things, in hope to enjoy its own in the end. Its hope is to outlive all wrath and contention, and to weary out all exaltation and cruelty, or whatever is of a nature contrary to itself. It sees to the end of all temptations. As it bears no evil in itself, so it conceives none in thoughts to any other. If it be betrayed it bears it for its ground and spring is the mercies and forgiveness of God. It needs some strong soprano 2s as well, and some tenors will probably need to use head voice at times. I've stuck as closely as I could to the original harmonies while splitting the solo parts between the choir parts. I hope you enjoy it. I'll have a YouTube link up at some point. There are some slightly dodgy-sounding rehearsal tracks which you can buy from me if you get in touch through my choir (London City Voices), and I soon should have a backing track you can purchase too, although a karaoke one will work if it's the same structure as the original song.

This arrangement of an old hymn combines the theme of God's love by using Biblical texts from Romans 8:35, & 38-39 and Corinthians 13:17 with the hymn text (and an original verse) from the hymn The Love of God by Frederick M. Lehman using a new melody. It begins with a recitative stating the theme and continues in a variety of voicings that compliment each verse, leading to a climactic setting verse. It then closes with repetitive definitions of love as stated by the apostle Paul and repeats the theme presented at the beginning. There are A cappella sections that can be supported with piano if needed. It is written for a mature choir for panio/SATB with a SSAA section.

Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818179). This setting of Psalm 130 (Out of the depths have I cried to you, O Lord) was written as a response to the covid-19 lockdown crisis. It is a prayer for help in the midst of difficulty and sin, waiting for God with hope in his compassion and forgiveness. Its tempo marking of soulful, but rhythmic highlights the character of the weary, bluesey theme in B flat minor and its falling chromatic accompaniment. However, there are signs of hope throughout the setting, and the last verse mixes its principal key of G major with the original rise and fall of the minor third interval (G to B flat). Hope is, after all, sure and certain, yet it is a trust in a God who is ultimately unseen and unknownable.Psalm 130: Out of the depths have I cried to you, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice,O let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If you, O Lord, should mark our iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, I wait for the Lord.My soul waits, and in his word I hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. The choir is forte by measure 8, at which point Mozart's contribution to the movement is interrupted by his death. It is suggested that Süssmayr used materials from Credo of one of Mozart's earlier masses (Mass in C major, K. 220 Sparrow) in completing this movement. This double choir a cappella arrangement of Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem KV626 is faithful but challenging. Soprano's are required to reach top b's for this arrangement to work well. Translation:Full of tears will be that dayWhen from the ashes shall arise The guilty man to be judged;Therefore spare him, O God,Merciful Lord Jesus,Grant them eternal rest.
