An energetic new setting of the classic sacred text, "Cantate Domino" was commissioned as a competition piece by maestro Rolandas Daugela for the Cantate Domino International Choral Festival and Competition of 2017.
The piece opens with a triumphant fanfare, accompanied by an energetic rhythmic figure in the tenors and basses. This first theme is contrasted by the second section - a warm, contemporary "benedicite" theme, followed by a lyrical, folk-inspired "quia mirabilia". The final section is an exciting reprise of the first theme, but this time the tenors and basses carry the fanfare in four-part harmony while the sopranos and altos provide the driving accompaniment. In the final bars of the piece, the choir ascends in a powerful crescendo to a magnificent final cadence.
For a cappella SATB chorus with some divisi. Score includes piano reduction (for rehearsal). Also included: bonus version without piano reduction (for easier reading for singers).

For SATB choir, piano, triangle, congas, claves, hand claps. (Vocal and Piano Score) This is a very entertaining, rhythmically alive piece that is both fun to perform and very amusing for audiences. It is appropriate for schools, students and community choral ensembles. The piano bass line may be doubled by electric or stand-up bass to add even more punch. The vocal ranges are all within normal ranges. All parts include some challenging syncopation. There is a fair amount of unison singing along with sections of four and five part harmony. I adapted and expanded an anonymous poem, The Oyster, to help emphasize the need to make the best of one's life circumstances. This arrangement for choir and piano is essentially an art song setting. It begins quietly in the key of F major, then builds slightly to stanza 2 in the key of D major. The full choir enters at stanza 3, forte, in the key of G-flat major, with a bit of divisi in the tenors. Though still a challenge, especially with the optional vocal soli, this Conniff-themed edition has been adapted from a more difficult version previously performed by Vocalogy on their 2005 Distilled release. The piece opens with a pulsating rhythm section figure as pianist, bassist, and drummer enter one by one. The wonderful moments of tension have been maintained beneath Rachmaninoff's soaringly romantic melody, and the wordless vocal provides an ethereal quality. With the optional soli, this is an Advanced level arrangement. There is room for improvising regardless of whether or not the soli is performed and, with no soli, this is an Advanced Intermediate arrangement.  Included individual piano, bass, and drum parts play from individual parts with chord symbols, slashes, and rhythmic notation. Songs from the Book Of Revelation is a powerful new cantata (SATB) and piano accompaniment consisting of 14 original songs from the book of Revelation that may be performed on any occasion throughout the year. I wrote this work during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. I was inspired to praise God and compose new music using text from the book of Revelation. Next to each song title, I have provided the bible verses for easy access. I arranged the songs in chronological order, but may be sung in any order. Most of the songs are easy to medium in difficulty level, including the piano accompaniment. One of the songs titled Amen! Amen! (Revelation 7:12) is sung and played in whole tone scale and is challenging to perform. There is a couple of short solos, and acapella sections throughout the cantata. Check out the MIDI sample and video of this entire cantata in my YouTube channel with the link provided. All lyrics are shown on the screen as the music is playing. Enjoy performing this cantata and to God be the glory! Performance time is about 38 minutes (with repeats).

This arrangement changes the meter to 4/4 so that the piece can begin as a quiet prayer and end as a triumphant march, to match the content of Huish's text. Scored for SATB choir, a soloist can be used for the opening and closing phrases. The piano accompaniment becomes very full for the last verse, so a minimum of eight voices are suggested with larger choirs being more effective. The piece begins in A-flat and ends in A-major. The choral parts are not overly difficult; the piano accompaniment is more demanding. Tempo should be martial for the final verse, 116-120.
