It is based on a sonnet by Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) entitled I loved you first: but afterwards your love from her Monna Innominata, a series of 14 sonnets. I loved you first: but afterwards your love is one of Rossetti’s love poems; it simply yet profoundly expresses the existence of love as being made possible only through the complete melding of two people as one entity.The Love Which Makes Us One is best suited for advanced intermediate to professional level choirs. Competitive high school and college choirs should be able to manage it. The piece involves continuous two-against-three rhythms with the choir vs. piano. In addition, there is one extended a capella section that requires the choir to stay on pitch for the piano re-entry. Tenors need to be able to sing the G above middle C, and basses need to be able to sing the F below C3.Duration: 5:40World premiere performance by Freudig Singers of Western New York on March 7, 2020, Buffalo, NY.(Please note that the mp3 file associated with this listing is a midi rendering only. Who We Love by Sam Smith is a moving ballad that has beautiful harmonic integrity. This arrangement is for average- to larger-sized SATB a cappella groups, and sits at a intermediate-advanced difficulty for high school/collegiate groups. This arrangement is similarly for the a cappella group looking to explore cluster chords while fulfilling a slow, but moving ballad slot for your song set. While there isn’t a vocal percussionist part in the score, there is a slight amount of body percussion involved in the second verse, which can be replaced by a vocal percussionist if desired.This arrangement features incredible harmonies, including many cluster chords that sound full and rich; these cluster chords are often met with two- and occasionally three-part splits within each voice part, which makes it crucial for each part to be solid. If your group does not have enough members to satisfy the three-part splits, one of the notes can be omitted for a similar sounding product. Additionally, there are two solo opportunities featured, each with the exact same range. If only one solo is desired, the soloist can simply follow the melody. Published by Stephanie Daige (A0.796870). This little fugue is one of Bach's most famous and beloved organ works. Re-imagined for double reed choir, it is a challenging and fun setting for this fugue. The different instruments take turns entering with the subject of the fugue, and interplay back and forth with the other instruments. The timbres of the different instruments adds a whole new textural dimension to this already fascinating work by J.S. Bach. I considered the need to breathe for each of these wind instruments, which obviously wasn't an issue for the original version intended for organ. This piece would be appropriate for advanced high school students, college students, or professionals. It would do well in a chamber music concert, in a church, or between acts of a larger ensemble concert, perhaps in another location of the auditorium while a (quiet!) set change is taking place. It would also work well as prelude or lobby music. The duration is just over three minutes (or longer if you prefer to take it slower). Each measure is numbered individually for convenience during rehearsals. I hope you will enjoy performing this piece as much as I have enjoyed arranging it! I set out to compose a musical setting of the text in hopes that the words and music may be of comfort to others too in seasons of grief, adversity, or doubt. “My tears have been my food both day and night, and all the time, people ask, ‘Where is your God?’ But each day, the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through the night, I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.†(Psalm 42:3, 8). The piano reduction in the choir score is intended for rehearsal purposes but may serve as accompaniment in performance if needed. After I finished composing this piece, I was inspired to create a transcription for Concert Band as well. The transcription is available and may be performed separately or combined with the choir for more impact if desired.

I initially asked myself if the world needs yet another composition featuring this text about the Virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus, but after playing it through a couple of times, I was struck by the simplicity and purity in the music. I immediately started to edit the original score and also made a version for mixed choir, which I decided to dedicate to VoNo Vocals and their conductor Lone Larsen. O magnum mysterium is to be premiered in Tolosa, Spain, in the beginning of November 2021. – Martin Åsander.

Anyone who has had the need for a nice warm caramel latte on a cold day (or any day) will enjoy this composition. Caffeine addicted people everywhere understand how difficult it is to get that monkey off your back... The one that's always telling you to cut back on your coffee habit. Watch out, or he'll steal your latte too! Caffeinated Dreams was inspired by the large number of coffee shops in Omaha, Nebraska, specifically one called Caffeine Dreams. If you are ever in the area, you should check it out. Also of note, there are small humorous illustrations throughout the score and parts to help inspire the performers. Perhaps you could attempt to get a local establishment to let you sing this piece for acup of java.
