O magnum - consists of the first stanza of the text, with Renaissance-like hymn style (SSATBB) (00:00).2. Beata Virgo - consists of the second stanza of the text, sung by the soloist (SATB Solo) (02:12).3. Fuga - Alleluia - consists of the final 'Alleluia' exclamation of the text. This part is a fugal composition with a Baroque-like style (SATB) (04:06).This composition reflects the mystery of the Incarnation of the Lord (first movement), the joy of Mother Mary after giving birth to the Lord while remembering the words of St. Elizabeth (second movement), and the exclamation of the faithful singing Alleluia continuously (third movement).This composition is accessible and suitable for student, school, or university choir, especially for Christmas Concert or Christmas Recital. It has been performed by church choirs, professional choirs and amateur choirs, as well as university choirs.I was very fortunate to have Anders Paulsson believe in the beauty and significance of Feet of Jesus. He promoted it in Sweden and returned to the United States to perform it in San Francisco. In May of 1997, the Saint Jacobs Chamber Choir under the direction of Gary Graden recorded Feet of Jesus, along with some other original works by Anders Paulsson and arrangements of spirituals. I requested that the soloists be African-Americans, Marymal Holmes and John Williams. The cross-cultural exchange was a vibrant one and proved to be enlightening. The very idea of what was truly considered spiritual in music was put to the question and answered admirably by Gary Graden and his marvelous Swedish choir. The BIS Northern Lights CD was released under the title Spirituals.

Each verse is progressively based upon an overall narrative: 1. hopes of the parent for the child 2. an easy, natural rhythm to family life, possibly the child is older now, and there is a dream of family continuance 3. uncertainty over who is nurturing who: does the child now sing to comfort the parent? 4. a closing blessing for peace and rest that hearkens back to the successful sleep of a tired infant III. It was originally published in 1877 in a version for two equal voices with organ. In 1890, Gounod rearranged it for soli, four-part mixed choir and organ and added the words Aux chapelles to the title. This piece opens with solo male voices singing a simple yet very lyrical melody. Then the four-part choir enters, repeating and expanding this melody upwards to its summit, after which a descending cascade leads back downwards to the main melody. The Agnus Dei then ends with the pleas for peace uttered in pianissimo chords.
