Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926665 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588435. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926665). In the first chapter of Paul’s second letter to Timothy, verses 1-10, we observe the intimate relationship that exists, between a spiritual father and his son… I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. In Chapter two we also witness Paul’s commissioning Timothy to entrust to faithful men all that he was taught by the Apostle, that they then may be able to teach others in the same way also. While the elder Paul is now in prison and bound in chains, he is nonetheless empowered by the Holy Spirit to encourage and exhort Timothy to share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ, for the sake of the Gospel. Though Paul is bound in chains, he declares to Timothy the word of God is not bound! Endurance for Paul serves only one purpose, the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. In verse 11, Paul supports his statements by inserting another known 1st century Hymn to Christ, which brings us to our fifth anthem, For If We Died with Him. The text-or lyrics-of this hymn are even bracketed (or indented) in the NKJV Bible, suggesting the hymnic setting. The proposition of the text is quite clear; if we died with Christ, then we shall also live eternally with Christ. If we endure in the faith, then we shall also reign eternally with Christ. However, there is an insertion of 'Law' here, with a dire warning that the opposite is also true: If we deny Christ, resist, and refuse His beckoning and free invitation to salvation, then He will also deny us. Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven… I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:31-23). Thus, the stage has been set for the fifth anthem. The piece is composed for SATB a cappella. The key is F Major. The opening phrase, This is a trustworthy saying, is in ¾ time, where a series of triplets are sung three times each (the Trinitarian opening motif). The meter then shifts to 2/4 with a lovely, distinctive unison melody for the opening phrase, For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. Soon after, when the lyrics shift to the words, If we deny Him, He will also deny us, the song drops into the relative minor key (F minor). The melody in this passage is haunting, and sends a clear warning signal to the listener to pay heed to what is being sung. When the text then transitions from if we are faithless, He remains faithful, however, the key shifts back to F Major in a new (dance-like) rhythm for the final verse, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. A coda is inserted in the final phrase where the triplet pattern is recapitulated (This is a trustworthy saying) and the sopranos ascend to a high F singing the lyrics, we shall live, for He remains faithful! to triumphantly end the piece.

Published by JDE FORCHRISTMUSIC (A0.940065). This piece of music is a statement of faith. The chorus states, Yes, I know, the Lord, He loves me so! It is a fun, bright song that is perfect for many different occasions.Lyrics:Verse 1Every day through life we're faced with sin and strife,We see that the heart of men is black; They say that they all know the way,They think they're satisfied with what they have. When at first we see that Jesus set us free,Our selfish self says we know what's right. But since we are filthy we must turn to the light.ChorusYes, I know, The Lord, he loves me so;He saved me from bondage deep within.I know where I'm going; I'm assured of that home,The new earth that is free from death and sin!Oh yes, I know, the Lord, he loves me so,For he took my sin and changed it for his love.Since I made him me guide I now feel certain insideThat I am going to heaven above!Verse 2None can know that day that he will showHimself to this world he made so well; He'll stand and say who chose the way of sinOr who on right things chose to dwell. If he came today, would you stand in dismayAnd say that you're not ready to depart?Be willing, accept himAs Lord into your heart.Chorus.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465704 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. Arranged by Stanley M Hoffman. 21st Century,Classical,Patriotic. 16 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #1044314. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1465704). Based on one of only several poems written by my mother, Jewish Holocaust survivor Rita Hoffman of blessed memory (1927–2018), Only from Blood Does Freedom Grow echoes the words of Hatikvah (The Hope), the national anthem of Israel. I have to believe that she wrote this poem around 1948 because of how it is worded. I of course knew the source of inspiration for this poem when I reread it not long ago—something I had not done since the 1990s—but its having been inspired by Hatikvah was really driven home to me by a Facebook comment. That comment inspired me to compose a piece in which the opening and closing sections are based on the opening melody of Hatikvah, but in which the middle section is newly composed. “Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy, and it honors the sword of freedom.” —John F. KennedyMy mother’s brief memoirs are housed at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn502129—Stanley M. Hoffman, 25 June 2024—Only from Blood Does Freedom Grow For so many years a voice sounded in Jewish hearts saying,“We want to have a home, we want to have a life again.”Enough blood has already streamed through rivers, the blood shed by our brothers *[and sisters],they, who for freedom of strangers and nation died. Now, the dream we dreamt for a long time has been awakened in us.We want to fight for our state, our country. The moment that we have been waiting for and been praying fortwo thousand years has brought us a spark of hope.We must not despair, for we are nevertheless Jews.We must and must want to persevere.A time will come which itself will become a symbol of our tragedy, and which will remain forever in our hearts -a burning flame, and a joyful feast. —Rita Hoffman (1927–2018)Words: © Copyright 1948 by The Estate of Rita Hoffman. All rights reserved. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262362 Composed by Sally Whitwell. 21st Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 17 pages. Sally Whitwell #855402. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1262362). On the morning of 2 March 2020, I finished writing the first draft of this song. It was the same morning that the New South Wales Rural Fire Service announced that for the first time since July 2019, the state was free of active bush and grass fires. At the time it felt quite euphoric. We’d been through a lot. Little did we know what was coming just a few days from then, when the Covid19 global pandemic reached our shores. It’s a virus that would kill millions across the world, and disable millions more, long term. It forced us, globally, into a kind of reckoning the like of which we had never experienced before. Non pharmaceutical controls like lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing and ventilation standards were employed to keep us safe from this airborne virus, whilst scientists worked round clock to develop vaccines and treatments.Technically, the declaration of a pandemic is still active, but governments and people have somehow decided for themselves that it is all over. No one takes any precautions any more. Governments have stopped reporting statistics. People who know they are infected are going about their business with no thought for others. Meanwhile, many of the immune-compromised, the disabled, the vulnerable, are unable to safely leave their homes and engage in activities out in the world. I know this, because I am a carer for a vulnerable person. What this whole exercise has taught me is that people in the world are actually much less kind than I thought they were. Humans do not really care for each other. People attack me for wearing a mask, tell me that I’m virtue signalling and that I look ridiculous (as if I care how I look). I’ve asked questions about workplace Covid safety and been informed that it’s “a bit rich†that I’m asking at all, when everything is now safe. A friend’s diagnosed Long Covid symptoms were cruelly minimised or completely dismissed “Oh, it’s not Covid. How old are you? In your forties? It’s your hormones, it’s the menopause.†The fatal combination of sheer selfishness, rampant misinformation and DISinformation continues, whilst people waltz around spreading a deadly virus with no thought for the grief that will undoubtedly ensue. It boils down to this: if we want to continue as a species and to have a planet on which to reside, we have to stop with the Self Care and start with the Community Care. A choir is the perfect instrument for expressing these notions, through the unique power of the massed first person plural. My wish for this piece is that it spurs performer and listener alike into some kind of action. Please consider the effect your actions have on others, and on the planet, and make any changes necessary, however inconvenient or difficult they are. Otherwise, there’s really no point.Sally Whitwell 11 July 2023.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1083536). A beautiful, new musical hymn setting of this famous text by John Nicholson. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text: Come, follow me, the Savior said. Then let us in his footsteps tread, For thus alone can we be one With God's own loved begotten Son. Come, follow me, a simple phrase, Yet truth's sublime, effulgent rays Are in these simple words combined To urge inspire the human mind. Is it enough alone to know That we must follow him below, While trav'ling thru this vale of tears? No No this extends to holier spheres. Not only shall we emulate His course while in this earthly state, But when we're freed from present cares, if with our Lord we would be heirs. We must the onward path pursue As wider fields expand to view, And follow him unceasingly, WhatWhat e'er our lot or sphere may be. For thrones, dominions, kingdoms, pow'rs, And glory great and bliss are ours, If we throughout eternity, Obey his words, Come follow me. Chorus: Come, follow me. Come follow me. Obey the Savior's words, Come follow me. follow me..

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576366 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,World. Octavo. 27 pages. David Warin Solomons #18013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576366). A vivid and at times raucous celebration of Saturnalia, in Latin, for an ensemble of voices and instruments (including various percussion, woodwind and brass instruments). The sound sample is a sung performance by the composer with an electronic preview of the instruments. Further explanations: Song for Saturnalia - a raucous and fun romp - in whole tones (since there is scant evidence of the types of scales used in those days - whole tones just seem to work in this context). The Latin words make references to relatively modern times but the spirit of Saturnalia is timeless, after all. The pileum (also written pilleum) is the little cap that slave wore during Saturnalia to show they were free men and women on that day - they would point to their cap and say libertus sum (I am a free person) and omnes aequales sumus (we are all equal). The words (and translation - both by me) are as follows: Saturnalia Song Io Saturnalia! Hodie igitur dominus noster non es. [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, so today you’re not our boss] Hodie omnes aequales sumus. Io! [Today we are all equal, hooray!] [spoof of USA Anthem] Salve O Frutici [Hi there, Bush] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of UK Anthem] Salve O Campestri [Hi there, Blair] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of German Anthem] Salve O Candelari [Hi there Brandt] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] Io Saturnalia, Io! [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, hooray!] [Note on the invented names (used in the vocative in the song of course): Fruticius is based on the word frutex a bush - it’s also used to mean blockhead in Roman comedies, but I can’t help that!. Campestrius is based on campester - a plain or place of clear ground (Blair is the Celtic equivalent word - a forest clearing!) Candelarius is based on candela - a taper or candle - ie something burning hence Brandt (yes, I know he’s earlier than the other two politicians, but, hey, it’s all a bit of anachronistic fun!)].

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.724913). A sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball. Text: Step by step, with ev’ry breathe, we climb the steep terrain To meet our God on heaven’s mount, and know his sacred name. Though the path is strewn with weeds and vision may be skewed, Our footprints on the trail can show true purpose is renewed. As He speaks his sermons on our mountains where He’ll teach, Just step by step, with ev’ry breathe, He is within our reach. As we are submissive and perceive our urgent need, We recognize the Master’s plea to follow and to heed. Godly sorrow brings about our true humility; Repentance changes mourning to a gift which makes us free. As He offers righteousness and clemency to each, Just step by step, with ev’ry breathe, He is within our reach. As we seek enabling pow’r through gaining heaven’s grace, We serve with mercy in our hearts to see the Savior’s face. Ev’ry step in our ascent assures us greater peace, So we’ll be called his precious heirs, with love to never cease. As we touch the mountain top, we’ve reached his sacred place. Just step by step, with ev’ry breathe, we’ve reached his sure embrace.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.745067). Beautiful music for SATB choir. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Mary Ann W. Kevin G. Pace #810732. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1213541). A sublime, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.  The text to this hymn is in reference to the miracle when Christ passed through the hostile multitude.  See Luke 4:28-30.Text:On a Sabbath day, and in the synagogue,Jesus said revealing words unto a gathered throng:“I am sent to bind up broken-hearted souls,And to publish liberty, to make all captives whole.â€â€œI am God’s own Son,†was ref’renced as He spoke. But the worshippers that day desired His words revoked.Seeking for a sign, a miracle to show,Was their true intention then, so they would surely know.Jesus did decline to grant this selfish gift,So the mob determined to propel Him from a cliff.Jesus’ miracle was passing through unseenFrom this crowd in Nazareth, so He could be set free.Jesus walked away to fill our ev’ry need.He performs true miracles and for us intercedes. So we can be free, He freed Himself that day.As He passes through our lives, we see and learn His ways.

Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

This plaintive Advent message is conveyed with great lyricism in this gentle original anthem by Jay Althouse. Unison vocals and call and response on the verses contrast with full harmonies on the choral refrain: Immanuel, O come to set us free, and we will find our rest in Thee. Highly recommended!

On the Lake written for advanced SSAA divisi and harp. Fannie Isabelle Sherrick was an American poet who wrote songs and poems throughout the 1860's that captured hearts and minds. I Can Not Say the Sad Good-Bye was one of her notable songs published in 1873. She was both influenced and encouraged by Ella Wheeler Wilcox who she attributed her success to. Her most popular poetry volume entitled Love or Fame and Other Poems was published in 1880 by W.S Bryan of St Louis and she continued writing for many years. ON THE LAKE There's a beautiful lake where the sun lies low, And the skies are warm with their summer glow; And a beautiful picture there I see Where the winds are warm and the waves are free, And the waves lie still in the sun As the flowers at night, when the day is done. You may sing of your silvery seas by night When the moon looks down with a dreamy light; And the stars shine out in the skies above Like the warm sweet gaze of the eyes of love; But the glow on the lake to-day Is a glory that never will fade away. The beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The trees bend down in the sun's warm glow Till their branches meet in the waves below, And the clouds in the far-off skies Are mirrored anew where the sunlight lies. I love to float where the shadows lie 'Neath the matchless glow of the summer sky; And I love to dream that these waves of light Will never fade in the gloomy night: But I know that the things I love Are as far from my reach as the clouds above. Oh, the beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The cloudlets of Heaven are mirrored there In a golden splendor so bright and fair That the soul is dazzled for aye By the beautiful light of this summer's day. Oh, I love to dream when this life is o'er We shall moor our boats near the golden shore; And our sorrows shall drift from us far away As the leaves that float in their idle play, And the waves shall smile in the sun When the night is over and life is done. Fannie Isabelle Sherrick.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740277 By The Usaf Band. By Giacomo (Dp) Puccini and Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Craig Garner. Contemporary. Octavo. 27 pages. Dorm 40 Music #4411085. Published by Dorm 40 Music (A0.740277). This arrangement is part of the Chicago Gargoyle Brass & Organ Ensemble Signature Series. Nessun dorma (None shall sleep) is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and is one of the best-known arias in all of opera. Although Nessun dorma has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Luciano Pavarotti popularized the piece well beyond the world of opera with his many recordings and live performances. Nessun dorma became his signature aria. Nessun dorma also appeared on the best-selling classical album of all time, The Three Tenors in Concert. However, our favorite version will always be the soul-infused rendition by Aretha Franklin during the 1998 Grammy Awards, in which she sang in place of Pavarotti when he was unable to perform due to throat problems. This arrangement, for mixed choir (SATB), organ, brass quintet and timpani/suspended cymbal, includes the aria, as well as the final chorus of the opera. Brass and organ play the entirety of the aria, and choir begins to sing at the final chorus, to dramatic effect. This arrangement includes a full score, organ/vocal score with English text, percussion and brass parts (trumpet parts are provided for both B-flat and C; the percussion part is designed for one player). Vocal score may be freely copied for all members of the choir. Perfect for any concert, and it makes a great encore, as well! If you don’t have a choir, we’ve got you covered. Dorm 40 Music has a published a version for brass quintet, organ and percussion. And, it is available for sale on Sheet Music Plus. Performance time, 4:00. Arranged for SATB choir with piano duet (one piano, four hand) accompaniment, this majestic arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner is perfect for every American patriotic concert or celebration. After a fanfare opening, the audience is invited to participate in the pledge to the flag and the first stanza. The choir then sings the lesser-known second stanza, concluding with a triumphant coda.At this time, the companion recording includes only digitized voices, so the lyrics for the entire arrangement are included below. (Lyrics by Francis Scott Key)America! America!God shed his grace on thee!O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.O say, does that star-spangled banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?O thus be it ever when free men shall standBetween their loved homes and the war's desolation!Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the head'n-rescued landPraise the pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must when our cause it is just,And this be our motto: In God is our trust! And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!Ah! America!

An Open World, When I Land and And the Wind are three settings of poems from Fletcher LaVallee Bartholomew's collection entitled And the Wind: Gnostic Poems 1945 - 1979. When I Land is duration ca. 5 minutes. Minneapolis native Fletcher Bartholomew spent most of his life in aviation, beginning with a childhood flight in a Curtis Robin in 1929. His work in aviation started with a job as an inspector in an aircraft factory. He went on to become a test pilot in World War II, serving at the South India Air Depot at Bangalore, India. He often spoke later of his experience on the ship to India and the people he met travelling around the subcontinent. He subsequently worked in aviation in Munich, Germany, and in Lima, Peru, before he concluded his career working in airport planning and management. Follow along in the score as you listen to a performance in this video: https://youtu.be/8ZmbFg3jI6s TEXT: I fly da Vinci's dream on wings of speed,With effortless delight I cleave the air, Free in the boundless realm of sky, I feed My soul with wonder, questions seeming fair. Why brought forth to wander on this earth? Why given this brief breath of life, To wonder at our enigmatic birth, To reach for stars, want reason for the strife. Yet, being here, why try to find a plan? Why waste time in thought before we go? Is not life enough for any man? How many have, as theirs, my answer, No. When I set foot again upon the land, And darkness gains upon the setting of the sun, I long to feel the welcome of your hand In mine, to rest, let Time its silly cycles run, Life's nights are all too few. No other hand, no other's look, no other one, Can bring that peace to mind or heart or soul, No peace. Although I know there's always fun In life, to reach that sublime goal, I must return to you.

Sylvia Miles #735119. Published by Sylvia Miles (A0.1135078). The Longest Day, from the film of the same name, commemorates the events of D-Day, 6th June 1944. The courage of those fighting men is legendary. I arranged this for my French choir. Based in Normandy, this has special poignance for local people, who owe their freedom to those warriors, and for whom these are their fields, their beaches. Annual commemoration events here in Normandy are extraordinarily moving, and happen in every town down to the smallest village, often attended by families of the men who fought on that day. (We sang it in French, of course - Le Jour le Plus Long - let me know if anyone wants this arrangement with the French words.) If you don't have enough singers to split the parts, sing the upper note.

SATB chorus - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1406 Composed by Sofia Söderberg. Christian. Octavo. 8 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1406. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1406). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.Music based on Gregorian themes. In the autumn of 2015, Malmo Live Vokalensemble performed Thierry Machuel's Paroles contre l'oubli - words against oblivion. In a large-scale art project, prisoners serving a life sentence at the Clairvaux high-security prison in north-eastern France were interviewed by the composer, who set their stories to music. The piece is incredibly dark, coloured by the innermost thoughts of individuals who know they will never again be free, people who are slipping into oblivion. Clairvaux wasn't always a prison, though - it was formerly an important monastery. Established by St. Bernhard in 1115 and closed in connection with the French Revolution, Clairvaux is a mythic place. For some, it is an abbey where thousands of monks voluntarily chose the path of saints, plunging themselves into the blessed silence of darkness. For others, it is a prison, the sheer name of which inspires terror and generates horrific images. My intention was that we, with our concert, would create a bridge between the present and the past, between incarceration and voluntary solitude. So I sought out the historical sources for our earliest notated music, from the French abbey of Solemn, and composed a variety of versions based on Gregorian themes. Kyrie and Agnus Dei are two of them. - Sofia Soderberg.
