In a B-flat Mixolydian Mode for SATB Choir, it has been fashioned to help you internalize God’s Word. The range of the canon melody for sopranos and altos is from B-flat below Middle C to the 2nd D above Middle C. For tenors and basses, the canon melody is one octave lower. Each of the voices splits into two parts in the final measures, the 1st sopranos ending on the 2nd F above Middle C. UPC: 000308037371.The part song, written for mixed choruses or equal-voiced ensembles, was a form actively cultivated by nineteenth-century German composers, Schubert, Schumann, Weber, Brahms -- and in this case, Mendelssohn. In fact, Mendelssohn wrote more than 25 of these very attractive pieces. The songs were intended for amateur or semi-professional groups. Their texture is for the most part homophonic, and they were to be sung without accompaniment. The lyrics of some of the finest German poets were often chosen for the texts and Mendelssohn has used texts by Uhland for both of these settings.

Schubert wrote Winterreise in 1827, about a year before his death.The texts are poems by Wilhelm Müller who died in the year that Schubert wrote Winterreise.Schubert found the first twelve poems under the title Wanderlieder von Wilhelm Müller. Die Winterreise in 12 Liedern in an almanack (Urania. Taschenbuch auf das Jahr 1823) published in Leipzig in 1823. It was after he set these, in February 1827, that he discovered the full series of poems in Müller's book of 1824, Poems from the posthumous papers of a travelling horn-player, dedicated to the composer Carl Maria von Weber, as a pledge of his friendship and admiration. Weber died in 1826. On 4 March 1827, Schubert invited a group of friends to his lodgings intending to sing the first group of songs, but he was out when they arrived, and the event was postponed until later in the year, when the full performance was given.This arrangement is made for SATB and can be sung with the original accompaniment by Schubert but there is also a set of parts for Wind-instruments. Verbum sapientes defendit.   The Lorem ipsum is a text in pseudo-Latin, loosely inspired in a writing of Cicero[1] and that since the XVI century is used in publishing as filler text. Today it is used with a similar function, in electronic documents or web design. There are several versions of this text (of variable length), all them used to begin in the same way (Lorem ipsum … elit) but goon in different fashions. Therefore, I also invented part of the text, taking care of the metric, structural parallelisms and some hidden allusion to popular music (Tellus, ventus et ignis is Earth, Wind and Fire). The last sentence has even some sense: Verbum sapientes defendit means that the word defends to those who know. In the coda, since it is vocally much more practical to finish in m than in t, I changed the last word: dolor sit ipsum, what carries the existentialist message that pain is oneself.  Musically, the form is a rondo, with an obsessive refrain (based on the sentence we are commenting) which reappears without modifications.  This piece was composed in Bremen (Germany) on 18, 19 and 20 May 2015 (as if from a handbook: one day the text, the following day the music and on the third one big adjustements and the definitive precisions). I wrote this specifically for the senior students of the Performing Arts. It has many leading parts for both sexes and has a hint of the 60-70 style of writing found in those musicals of the times but modern in context. The story line includes opportunities for many individual performances covering song and dance numbers, group singing, contemporary dance, dramatic interludes and strong comedy parts. This is an original story taking a humorous look at a possible visitation from our space neighbours. The story begins with the arrival of GS2, an ‘Interstellar Space Surveyor’ on its mission to map this part of the Universe. Whilst reporting its position to the home base ‘Niva’, the surveyor informs them that one of the planets (Earth) appears to have intelligent life forms. On receiving this information Niva decides to dispatch a party of college students to study this unique planet, much to the annoyance of GS2 who take umbridge at being appointed, what he calls a Galactic Nanny! Events take a dramatic turn when the surveyor is called away on an ‘emergency rescue mission’ so has to beam the students down to planet Earth, where during transmutation, they are warned not to integrate with the population. To underscore the uncertainties those experiencing homelessness routinely have to endure, the piece incorporates elements of chance and indeterminacy. This makes each performance truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and a unique addition to contemporary music programs. Key aspects of the piece are determined by the musicians themselves in real-time during the performance, which can cause the running time of this piece to vary between just a few minutes and, potentially, hours! The percussion parts are easy and meant to be performed by members of the choir. This download contains all parts for the choir version. The picture of my grandkids looks like a poster for cultural diversity. Their varied genetic backgrounds presented an opportunity to compose an eclectic suite with each piece presenting a style representative of their unique genetic heritage. Performance time for the entire suite is 23 minutes but each piece could stand alone on a concert program. Individual titles are: Riely's Dance, Ananlysia's Margarita, Toy for Timothy, Air for Chiara, Lullaby for Mirabai,and Soren's Jig. This piece is a web of several of those responses, gathered in four parts: the first about our immediate surroundings, the second describing our need for beauty and hope, the third a potpourri of actions linked with values, and the final a broad statement about our notes “in the great choir of humankind.†Duration: 3:45.

Published by Jim Bosse (A0.954975). Suite Grandkids contains six pieces originally scored for classical guitar trio, one for each of the grandkids that I had at that time (2005). I decided to write lyrics for each movement, creating a version for voice (male and/or female) and classical guitar, then expanding it to this version for SATB Choir with classical guitar and percussion. The percussion parts are easy and meant to be performed by members of the choir. The picture of my grandkids looks like a poster for cultural diversity. Their varied genetic backgrounds presented an opportunity to compose an eclectic suite with each piece presenting a style representative of their unique genetic heritage. Performance time for the entire suite is 23 minutes but each piece could stand alone on a concert program. This download is all parts for the final movement, Soren's Jig.
