My quartet has parts that increase slightly in complexity from bass to tune, so thereâ??s something for everyone here. The bass line is supplied in both treble and bass clefs, and the two parts are identical, so for a large ensemble, you can have one or the other or both in your performance.Everything is comfortable to play, and my transcription is based on the gentle simplicity found in Cyndi Lauperâ??s official video, and placed in a key that suits the wide range of pitch in this piece.The music rises and falls as the song progresses, making the dynamics happen almost automatically. But there are plenty of opportunities in the phrasing to make this piece absolutely magical.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. The overall complexity is quite modest and this arrangement would suit a mixed ability quartet, or a school ensemble with the teacher playing line 3 (which is a little more complex). The bass-line is fun to play, with a catchy, almost-funk-like rhythm, and the chords are straightforward and well-known. Written without repeats (to reduce the chance of errors!) this music will just fit on a music stand without page-turns! I hope you'll enjoy the catchy, almost hypnotic rhythm, and I'm sure the audience will!

To do that, Iâ??ve moved the key down one tone to make the keys in this piece familiar ones. My arrangement will suit a mixed ability ensemble from early intermediate to intermediate. Guitar 4 has the bottom string tuned down to D, and thereâ??s a bass clef version of the same line to suit a normally tuned bass guitar or upright bass. You can have one or both lines in your performance.Iâ??ve deleted a tiny piece of repetition near the end - the words change in the original but the music doesnâ??t - as an instrumental there was too much of the same phrase! The piece finishes with a final chord instead of a fade to nothing, as it works so much better in concert.The resulting piece still runs for four and a half minutes. Perhapsour instrument’s greatest joy is the fact that it exists in so many forms andstyles of music. Some players prefer the electric guitar and read from TAB,others have a classical background and are therefore more familiar with notes;others still prefer reading from chord charts with fretboard diagrams.
Thisdownload considers all of these musicians.
Guitar1 is the main tune, as played by Hank Marvin in The iconic recording made byThe Shadows. The music is provided in both notes and TAB.
Guitar 2is a part with chords. This is given with chord symbols, fretboard diagrams andrhythm patterns.
Guitar3 is designed to include the less-experienced player. It is in open positionand the part, being easy to read, is given in notes. This is an optional part.
