The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since. This version is arranged as a duet for Alto Saxophone and Trumpet.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, especially at weddings. The melody is mainly in the first part. The performance time is a little more than one minute. Follow the links above to hear a short audio sample or a complete performance on youtube. The samples come from the Clarinet Duet version of this arrangement.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing and expressive playing. Score and parts. 12 pages. Phil Beaman #6331635. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845192). The Elixir of Love is a comic opera by Donizetti about an elixir to cause two people to fall in love. It turns out that the elixir was fake (just red wine), but it caused the two persons to realize that their love had always been real. My arrangement maintains this joyful, almost comedic, side of love's feelings. Following Ludovic's earlier piano arrangement I treat just three of the opera's many themes. I have altered and enriched some of the simplistic classical chord progressions. There are now numerous markings throughout, particularly in articulation. Each part requires accurate rhythms, and each part has some virtuosic extended patterned runs. The range for each instrument is wide-2 octaves plus a third. This piece is a fun way to show your technical skills in concert or audition/competition. Or useful anyplace that you want joyful melodrama (Donizetti's own description). Also works well for pre-wedding music if you prefer the humorous side of true love instead of the sappy stuff.
