Composition and characteristics All of Me is a jazz standard whose lyrics and music were written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931. It has an ABAC structure and was originally written in the key of B-flat major.The melody combines the music's contradictory possibilities. The downward thrusts of the opening phrases suggest emotional despair, while the final line, with its repeated high notes, sounds almost jubilant. It usually runs in an average time.All of Me first came to public notice when a performance by Belle Baker was broadcast on the radio in 1931. After that a few others also became successful.Frank Sinatra recorded several versions of All of Me. Its 1948 release peaked at No. 21. He also sang it in the film Meet Danny Wilson, which may have helped Johnnie Ray's performance reach No. 12 in the charts that year. Sinatra's use of All of Me brought a non-jazz audience to the song, as did Willie Nelson, whose version was included on his Stardust album and reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1978. In 2000, All of Me of Me received the Towering Song Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Their manager advised them to take a short break from their work and go to a movie theater to see the film. Richard and Karen were immediately taken with this song and agreed that it should be the follow-up to their previous hits. After returning home, they recorded it, released it in December, and it went gold in only two months. The Carpenters' success with this song helped it win the 1970 Oscar for Best Song.

When I'm listening to it, falling leaves come to my mind (not Autumn Leaves though... that's quite another song ;-), grey clouds, a heavy storm... and then a nice and cozy living room with a candle on the table where I enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea and read an inspiring book. Lead Sheet includes C, Bb, Eb and bass versions of this song. In spite of (or because of?) the simple character of the melody, it can be played in very different styles. The sound sample contains this song in two versions: one in rather traditional swing, the other one in a smooth jazz style.

At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. In January 2010, composer Tapio Sayppo was contacted by a 17-year-old schoolgirl named Sonia Zindoga in Helsinki, Finland. She had written two sets of lyrics, Unbroken Heart and Baby, That's Okay. She wanted Tapio to create the music for the two songs. After meeting her in Herttoniemi, Helsinki, Sayppo accepted the job. He then reviewed and edited the cute lyrics, wrote the music for the songs and played and recorded the instruments. Next, during several lengthy sessions, he taught Sonia to sings the songs. After all that, Tapio started recording her singing.
