Here is the lead sheet version of the hymn, The Harvest of the Earthâ€, as heard on my YouTube channel and requsted by listeners. Originally titled “See How Brown Autumn Spreads the Fieldsâ€, this song is so rare that I couldn’t find any music for it online, and therefore wrote a new melody and accompaniment for it that captures the the solemnity and even anguish of the lyrics. It’s one of the songs of harvest off of my album entitled “Hymns of Autumnâ€, but doesn’t talk about harvest in the traditional sense we normally sing about these days.Not many talk about the judgement of God in today’s church, and this hymn will send chills down the spine of the most devout believer as we realize the full spectrum of God's character, including His wrath and power on Judgement Day. I found this in an old hymnal that was so old that the “Sâ€s were still written as “Fâ€s, and I had to squint to read it while learning to sing for this recording. I hope this ancient and powerful hymn finds a place to minister to today's church and believers around the world, perhaps after a sermon on God’s judgement, or for a Lent or Advent service about repentance and turning to God, both individually and as a nation.This version is in B Minor to match the original recording, and includes the chords for the whole song including the reharmonized verse with a different melody.Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site is the full piano vocal arrangement as played in the original recording.For other formats including large print, simplified, or extended choral harmony versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. A perfect hymn for funerals or a contemplative autumn service, reminding us of how swiftly life passes, just like the autumn leaves which are so soon gone. The original hymn was very beautiful but I thought a minor setting would be more fitting for the solemn lyrics, so I wrote an entirely new melody and choral arrangement, which can be found on all streaming platforms and Youtube, where lyric videos of this and other songs are readily available for church or personal use. All September and October long I've been going back to this song myself, as it captures the rich beauty and yet sadness of the autumn season, and somehow brings comfort amidst the fast-changing seasons of the earth and of our lives. Composition and characteristics All of Me is a jazz standard whose lyrics and music were written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931. It has an ABAC structure and was originally written in the key of B-flat major.The melody combines the music's contradictory possibilities. The downward thrusts of the opening phrases suggest emotional despair, while the final line, with its repeated high notes, sounds almost jubilant. It usually runs in an average time.All of Me first came to public notice when a performance by Belle Baker was broadcast on the radio in 1931. After that a few others also became successful.Frank Sinatra recorded several versions of All of Me. Its 1948 release peaked at No. 21. He also sang it in the film Meet Danny Wilson, which may have helped Johnnie Ray's performance reach No. 12 in the charts that year. Sinatra's use of All of Me brought a non-jazz audience to the song, as did Willie Nelson, whose version was included on his Stardust album and reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1978. In 2000, All of Me of Me received the Towering Song Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Barry Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976 after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975. It has been covered by many jazz and blues artists. The first recording, by Nat King Cole in 1953, achieved some popularity but was not among that year's top 20 songs. It was Bobby Darin's version in his 1959 album That's All that introduced the song to a wider audience. The song is part of the Great American Songbook, and Alec Wilder included it in his book American Popular Song:.
