A Summer Place is a 1959 American romantic drama film based on Sloan Wilson's 1958 novel of the same name, about teenaged lovers from different social classes who get back together 20 years later, and then must deal with the passionate love affair of their own teenaged children by previous marriages. The film contains this memorable instrumental theme composed by Max Steiner, which spent nine weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1960.
