Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1172767). A Song of the Hills is a piano solo arrangement of the 1915 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. Â I have taken fragments of this melody and set it in 2 part writing. Â The first section is Baroque in style and ornamented with mordents and has a broken triad accompaniment. Â The second section is Classical in style with legato lines and extended broken chords. Â These two sections repeat. Â Then the final section has an abridged variation of the Baroque theme, then climaxes with trills and flourishes in the Classical style. Â This piece maintains a happy feeling throughout and will put a smile on your face. There is a descending chromatic 9th. chord progression before each chord starting 11/2 steps up from the chord so for instance there is a descending 9th chord progression from F9-E9-Eb9 landing on the D9 chord. Page 3 is the chord progression going from the I chord (D9) to the IV chord (G9) and back to the I chord again.
