Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1227903 By 101 String Orchestra. By Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 10 pages. Timothy Stapay #823903. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1227903). This arrangement of The Last Time I Saw Paris is written as played by piano artist, Liberace. It contains an introduction, by Liberace, using parts of the French song, Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy. The Last Time I Saw Paris is a song composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, published in 1940. It was sung in the 1941 film Lady Be Good by Ann Sothern.By December 1940, six versions of the song were on the charts, with Kate Smith having exclusive radio rights for the song for six weeks. The song catered to a wartime nostalgia for songs about European cities following the Second World War Battle of France (which brought Paris under Nazi control), with A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square also proving popular. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1941. This was Kern's second Academy Award for Best Original Song (following his success with The Way You Look Tonight in 1936), and Hammerstein's first. Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor. A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!Lyrics:(Verse)A lady known as ParisRomantic and charmingHas left her old companionsAnd faded from viewLonely men with lonely eyes are seeking her in vainThe streets are where they wereBut there's no sign of herShe has left the Seine(Chorus)The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayI heard the laughter of her heartIn every street cafeThe last time I saw ParisHеr trees were dressеd for springAnd lovers walked beneath those treesAnd birds had songs to singI dodged the same old taxicabsThat I had dodged for yearsThe chorus of their squeaking hornsWas music to my ears The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayNo matter how they change herI'll remember her that wayI'll think of happy hoursAnd people who shared themOld women selling flowersIn markets at dawn(Bridge)Children who applauded Punch and Judy in the parkAnd those who danced at night and kept our Paris brightTill the town went dark(Chorus)The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayI heard the laughter of her heartIn every street cafeThe last time I saw ParisHer trees were dressed for springAnd lovers walked beneath those treesAnd birds had songs to sing I dodged the same old taxicabsThat I had dodged for yearsThe chorus of their squeaking hornsWas music to my earsThe last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayNo matter how they change herI'll remember her that wayI'll think of happy hoursAnd people who shared themOld women selling flowersIn markets at dawn

Instrumental Duet Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534703 Composed by Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy. Classical,Concert,Standards. Score and parts. 17 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #6341543. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534703). The composer and harpsichordist Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy was born in Paris in 1744, and died in 1824 in Villers-sur-Mer in Normandie. She married Jacques Brillon de Jouy 22 years her senior, and had two daughters, Cunégonde and Aldegonde, Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy had a salon in Passy whose guests included the violinist Jean-Pierre Pagin and cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini. Benjamin Franklin was also a frequent vistor and Madame Brillon has an extensive correspondence with him, including the period after his stay in Paris during the American Revolution .Many of her compositions were purchased in 1957 by the American Philosophical Society of Philadelphia, in honor of this friendship. In 2021, French Pianist Nicolas Horvath recorded a landmark CD for Grand Piano (GP872-73) of Brillon’s keyboard noatas with extensive notes by Aliette de Laleu, Deborah Hayes and Nicolas Horvath and Christine de Pas The keyboard sonatas published here are intended to document this reocrding. The manuscript of the Sonata in A minor, Madame Brillon’s only solo keyboard work, s in her hand. Crossed-out measures and partially abbreviated notation indicate that t was for her own use in salon performances. This is probably an early work, given the classical haronic vocabulary and typical classical balance of the forms. The second movement is more virtuosic, with an initial theme in four octaves, scales in doubled thirds and figures which are in alternate hands.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.1087464). In 1959, Germaine Tailleferre wrote incidental music for a radio drama based on Philippe Jullian’s « Mémoire d’une bergère » or « Autobiography of an armchair » which traced the owners of this armchair from the court of Louis XV to England after the French Revolution, back to Paris and through the hands of various foreign owners (Arabian, American, German etc.). In illustrating this story Tailleferre used her great knowledge of musical styles to evoke these different settings, from the classical styles of French music of the XVIIIth century to classical, romantic, popular French styles as well as two evocations of American Blues/Ragtime music. These short pieces are interesting in and of themselves, in addition to illustrating Jullian’s story. The first piece may be repeated at the end, as it was in the original radio drama.

After an energetic opening which evolves into polyphonic interplay, the work enters into what I call the nostalgic music box section played on the upper end of the piano. Eventually, the energetic opening sneaks back in featuring virtuosity and flamboyance until at the end where it drifts off into the night. The duration is 11 minutes. This comes from an earlier computer program copy thus the lower price. The premiere was by Catherine Schneider at the American Church in Paris, France on February 11, 1990.

Timothy Stapay #905441. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1316769). One of the most famous wintery pieces in classical music, The Skaters’ Waltz was written in 1882 and inspired by the sight of Parisians skating on the frozen Seine river. Émile Waldteufel wrote over 200 works, but this is the piece he is best remembered for.Skater's Boogie is arranged as performed by famous t.v. pianist Jo Ann Castle. This piano solo arrangement features all of the excitement and energy of Jo Ann's television performance on the Lawrence Welk Show.Jo Ann Castle is an American honky-tonk pianist, best remembered for appearing on The Lawrence Welk Show. She adopted her stage name from the name of an accordion manufacturer, another instrument she played proficiently. She was often referred to as Queen of the Honky-Tonk Piano by Lawrence Welk himself. Originally introduced to Welk by Joe Feeney in 1959, Castle became a permanent member of the Welk Family, replacing the departing Big Tiny Little.  In the 1990s, Castle performed at the Welk-owned Champagne Theater in Branson, Missouri, as well as making a guest appearance for a show with Jimmy Sturr and His Orchestra on RFD TV.
