Philip Kim #1087621. Published by Philip Kim (A0.1512670). This is the third arrangement from a series of piano concertos for solo piano. The first two are Beethoven's Emperor Concerto and Rachmaninoff's second concerto. Chopin's concertos always sounded like a grandiose piano sonata to me. The orchestration isn't as complex as Beethoven's and Rachmaninoff's. But it didn't mean it was easy to transcribe. I think the transcription turned out well. Already a challenging piece, a solo version is more. The beautiful Romance of the second movement is worth learning it. This is the soloist's part for performance with the orchestration available as D 1038140 Orchestral cues are included, so this is useful for pianists preparing for a concert with orchestra but It is not suitable for solo performance. This piece was composed for the 1941 film 'Dangerous Moonlight', a World War II love story with a sweeping soundtrack to match the romance of the plot. The film’s producers apparently approached Rachmaninov to compose the score, but when he declined, the score for Dangerous Moonlight and the Warsaw Concerto was composed by Richard Addinsell. The composer’s unashamed use of indulgent harmonies and grand Romantic gestures goes a great way towards explaining why the Warsaw Concerto remains hugely popular today.

Years later, I composed a musical work for piano and orchestra - a creative and classic concerto, capturing the Great Wall's grandeur and majestic attraction.My first visit to the Great Wall of China was in 1983 while engaged as a pianist onboard a cruise ship that sailed the waters of Asia. My first impression of seeing the Great Wall and the scenic landscape surrounding it, was one of awe and amazement.At that time, I did not realize the lasting effect this memorable attraction would have on me. There are few things more majestic than an eagle in flight against an azure sky…the broad stroke of its wings as it rises and falls on currents of air. It is with an undeniable sense of grace and elegance that it soars through the firmament. From a pianistic standpoint, the left hand provides the imagery of the winds on which the melody, representing the eagle, floats. In fact, once the piece begins it does not stop until the very end. The melody of the right hand is almost piano concerto-like in its approach. At the beginning it is very chordal, stately and grand. But as the piece progresses there are moments of flourish which capture the eagle’s delight as it swoops through the sky, ascending and descending at will…the master of all that it sees.

Its melody comes from the final movement of Niccolò Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 2 in B minor, where the tune was reinforced metaphorically by a 'little handbell'. The étude is famous for being one of the most difficult pieces ever written for piano. It is played at a brisk allegretto tempo and features right hand jumps between intervals larger than one octave, sometimes even stretching for two whole octaves within the time of a sixteenth note. As a whole, the étude can be practiced to increase dexterity and accuracy at large jumps on the piano, along with agility of the weaker fingers of the hand. La collection ANACROUSE offre aux pianistes novices et confirmés un large choix d’œuvres classiques, allant de la Renaissance à l’époque moderne.<br><br>Proposer tout à la fois des « incontournables » du répertoire classique et des pièces de compositeurs parfois oubliés, toutes d’une valeur pédagogique indéniable, tels sont les objectifs que nous nous sommes fixés. Chaque pièce, vendue à l’unité, a fait l’objet d’un travail éditorial attentif, tant sur le plan de l’établissement du texte musical que de sa gravure, afin de garantir aux musiciens les conditions indispensables aux plaisirs tirés du commerce fréquent de ces œuvres.<br><br>Les partitions sont proposées sous la forme d’ouvrages traditionnels (feuillets papier), et disponibles également par téléchargement.<br><br><br><br>Le terme Nocturne a un sens différent suivant les époques. Au 17ème et au 18ème siècle, c’est une pièce de musique de chambre, instrumentale ou vocale qui convient au jeu en plein air ou à une interprétation nocturne. Au 19ème siècle, le créateur du « nocturne pour piano » au sens technique est le compositeur irlandais John Field. Ces nocturnes sont des morceaux élégants avec une mélodie simple, nostalgique et méditative. Chopin adopte cette appellation et son idée générale pour ces phrases poétiques à l’accompagnement développé et cadencé. Il écrit vingt et un nocturnes qui ont contribué à développer sa célébrité. Le nocturne n° 20 en ut dièse mineur composé en 1830 est une pièce d’une grande originalité dans l’alliance du sentiment et de l’esprit. C’est une pièce beaucoup moins condensée que les autres nocturnes mais qui nous fait ressentir une beauté qui nous ensorcelle. Cette œuvre a été trouvée parmi les papiers du compositeur après sa mort et a été éditée seulement 26 ans plus tard. Il utilise dans son œuvre la notation d’un thème pris à son concerto pour piano en fa mineur, pièce antérieure. Dans la première version, qu’il abandonne plus tard, la mélodie est composée sur une mesure à 3/4 comme dans le concerto avec un accompagnement à 4/4, mesure qui domine dans le nocturne. Cette notation est très étonnante pour les années 1830, cependant la façon de combiner des tempi différents se développe surtout au 20ème siècle. Chopin nous confie une partie de son journal intime à travers ces pages mélancoliques, d’une sensibilité communicative. Les pianistes romantiques pourront naturellement expimer leurs états d’âme à travers ce nocturne d’une grande expressivité. Partition + Biographie + Notes sur l'oeuvre

Chopin a dédicacé cette valse à « Madame la Comtesse Delphine Potocka » à laquelle il avait dédié déjà son second Concerto (opus 21) publié à Leipzig en avril 1836. Cette valse fut surnommée par l’éditeur la valse minute en raison de sa courte durée, une à deux minutes pour une performance normale. Il faut savoir cependant que le compositeur l’appelait Valse du petit chien. C’est un de ses biographes, Camille Bourniquel, qui nous en rappelle la raison : Chopin essayait avec cette valse de peindre un chien pourchassant sa queue. D’une grande brillance, la Valse minute est néanmoins considérée comme plus relativement jouable par rapport à nombre d’autres valses composées par Chopin. Son tempo indiqué est Molto vivace, sa mélodie tourbillonne sur elle-même alors que dans la partie centrale de la seconde valse, elle se développe en arabesques. Très connue et très utilisée par les médias, elle a été reprise pour le générique d’une émission radiophonique de la BBC « Just a minute ».
