Capriccio on the Departure of a Beloved Brother, BWV 992 is an early keyboard work by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1704 when Bach was still a teenager. It is considered one of his few programmatic compositions, telling a specific story through music. Written as part of the Family Suite, this piece is dedicated to my daughter, Kerri. One of the great things about Kerri is her contrasting layers of personality. As a child, she was always mature beyond her years, demonstrating the responsibility, dependability, and drive to succeed more commonly associated with an oldest child. And yet, as a teenager her bedroom featured a loft bed with a slide, a giant smiley-face mural on the wall, and an assortment of Care Bears and Sesame Street characters. In 1840, he won the Prix de Rome together with François Bazin.[1]In 1842, he became the organist at Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs church in Paris, where he remained for 12 years, before becoming organist at Saint-Eustache Church. While at Saint-Eustache, he performed the organ in the premiere of Hector Berlioz's Te Deum in April 1855, conducted by the composer.[1] He died in Paris on 9 November 1876. Eleanor Rigby is an example of a song that demonstrates The Beatles evolution of moving from standard rock and roll to more experimental and alternative sounds. A song on the topics of depressing loneliness was not a common topic coming from rock bands in the 1960's. However, being a teenager in the 60's, the minor melody caught my attention and became one of my favorite Beatles songs.All that said, this arrangement features staccato chords and a melody that alternates between staccato and legato phrases. I wrote it at an intermediate level so it would be playable by teen piano students. I think teen students that are beginning to expand emotionally will be attracted to Eleanor Rigby. This is a short piano piece that I wrote back in 1985, as a young teenager growing up in the country of Lebanon during the civil war. Initially, the piece was performed as a vocal/piano number and sung in Armenian. Over the years, it has been sung and played on various occasions. It's suitable for piano players of intermediate level and is ideal to be performed as a solo at the end of a concert. The music is calm with deep overtones and constantly changing chords and harmonies. Earlier this year, during one of the Covid-19 lockdowns in our country, I used the opportunity of being home to record a piano album, Peaceful. 'Tonight' is one of the songs on this album. You can find it on all online music platforms.

It is from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. This, like ‘Lullaby’, also originally appeared on Wrestling Angels, and it was inspired by a particularly strong thunderstorm I experienced while visiting friends and family in Kansas when I was a teenager. The original recording was much more robust, and I really enjoyed approaching it anew as a solo piano piece for The Open Road. These original four pieces were meant to be developed into symphonies and sonatas etc but it was not until very recently (I'm in my 40s now) that I realised that these were complete - if brief - pieces in themselves. I wrote four new pieces to complement the older ideas.
