An arrangement of The End Of The World, a song covered by many famous artists. includingThe Carpenters; thanks to the phenomenal singing of Karen Carpenter. The End of the World was written by composer Arthur Kent and lyricist Sylvia Dee, who often worked as a team.The Carpenters (officially known as Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials. Karen possessed a powerful singing voice, and close miking brought out many nuances in her performances. Richard arranged their music to take advantage of this, though Karen had a three-octave vocal range. Richard's work with Karen was influenced by the music of Les Paul, whose overdubbing of the voice of wife and musical partner Mary Ford allowed her to be used as both the lead and harmony vocals.[6] By multi-tracking, Richard was able to use Karen and himself for the harmonies to back Karen's lead. The overdubbed background harmonies were distinctive to the Carpenters, but it was the soulful, engaging sound of Karen's lead voice that made them so recognizable. Record executive Mike Curb said it was Karen's voice that took the Carpenters above straight pop music into pop rock.  She was known as a one take wonder and could deliver a strong performance on the first attempt.Richard Carpenter was the creative force behind the Carpenters' sound. This composition is a piano piece written in A major in the common time signature 4/4. The story behind ‘Roadtrip on a Motorway’ is from a personal experience of travelling to Galway from Dundalk to go to Pink Training, a national and life-changing weekend. The original phrase represents the rising hope of what the weekend could become and how exciting it is to be outside of college. This is quickly interrupted as during the journey the car breaks down on the motorway one hour away from Galway city. This is represented by fast, irregular rhythms with counterpoint to represent the disorientation, panic and fear from not knowing where we are or how we are going to get to Galway on time. The return of the original motif symbolises hope coming back to us as a woman stopped on the motorway and offered to drive us to Galway. A sense of panic and disorientation returns in the music as we begin to become stressed about whether we will meet the deadline for registration. The song finally resolves to the original theme, but developed as a nod to the journey that we had while we finally make it to registration on time.

I walked right up to that pulpit at church, nodded to my accompanist to start playing, and then I looked out at the audience. That's when I lost it. There must have been 1000 people there. I promptly forgot all of the words and started looking around for my Mom. Ah, there she was. Noticing the abject look of terror on my face she smiled at me and started mouthing the words to me. My knees trembling, my whole body shaking, I sang every word that she mouthed to me. By the time I sat down I had decided that I was never going to sing again. However, on the way back to my mother, so many people told me that I did a good job that I decided maybe I would sing again. I believe in myself. I also believe that God is my Father and that Jesus Christ , who is my elder brother, is the Savior of the world.

Boogie in the Barnyard is a lively rhythm & blues style piece in G major which will suit established beginner pianists at about the Grade 2 (ABRSM) standard.The right hand melody features a syncopated quaver - crotchet - quaver phrasing, which also occurs in both hands throughout the piece. This piece is best played at a steady groove (about 112 bpm), so try to resist the temptation to get faster!Once you can perform the piece all the way through (without stopping), try playing along with the accompanying backing track, which is excellent training for your musical 'ear' (this is also available at Sheet Music Plus). If you have someone to control the volume of the backing track, try fading out the track whilst playing along, and then fading it back in again a few bars later. Once again the influence of George Winston and Mannheim Steamroller can be heard as this prelude begins with a burst of joy and energy that does not subside, but only grows with each verse. The changing meters make this piece a challenge to play and requires a strong technique to handle some of the scale passages. This arrangement is a far cry from the original music of Mendelssohn, but the lyrics inspired me to create something full of vibrancy and passion to match the glorious news that the angels came to deliver! The first verse establishes the 5/4 meter heard throughout the prelude and is filled with the pealing of church bells in the right hand as they send forth the melody in octaves! Meanwhile, the left hand continues the broken chord pattern established in the opening. In the next verse, the left hand is now rising and falling, while the right is still playing the melody in octaves. Only now it is filling the spaces with eighth notes to match the left hand…essentially combining the two hands of the previous verse. For the final verse, the left hand takes on the orchestral role of brass and percussion with thunderous chords punctuating the rhythm of the melody in the right hand. There are moments of fireworks as the hands break free of the 5/4 meter for some wonderful, albeit brief, scales which increase the growing excitement. The piece concludes with a return of the rhythmic material from the opening as the hands work their way down the piano in arpeggiated fashion only to race back up the keyboard for a final flourish before a resounding Amen: Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Glory to the new-born King!

The idea for the beginning motif came when I was simply at a piano and began playing around with chords based on quintal harmonies, chords built off of perfect fifths instead of the usual major or minor third. When I wrote this piece, I thought of a scene in which a pair of beings, one with a masculine energy and the other feminine, were dancing quite literally in the clouds. In the B section, the pair holds one another tightly as they share memories of one another, some fond and some bittersweet, before returning to their waltz. In the D section, the feminine being goes her own way and dances solo with a sense of vigor and raw passion. She goes a little too hard and trips, falling on the ground. The masculine being comes to her aid and gets her back on her feet, returning to their waltz once more. By the end, the sun sets and they part ways, sharing a tender embrace and a kiss goodbye.

The Jester was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain guests during royal court. Jesters were also traveling performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events.This piece is in ternary form. The outer sections are to represent the general clowning around and playing pranks as a mischievous Jester does. The middle section by contrast is more lyrical to demonstrate a softer side to the personality, however this quickly transcends back to the final section where jokes, pranks and laughs have their way! It should be performed very briskly and lightly to capture the overall feel of the piece.it is 4.00 minutes in length- Set at Advanced Intermediate level, The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.A great addition to the repertoire.
