A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia arranged for Bb Tenor Saxophone & Piano, Saxophonists will love this!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard.It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

It’s Been a Long Long Time is best known to modern audiences as the song at the end of The Avengers, Endgame, where Steve Rogers, after seventy years, finally gets his dance with Peggy Carter. The song of course, is much older. Two versions of It’s Been a Long Long Time topped the charts in late 1945, and as US servicemen returned from Europe and the Pacific, it perfectly caught the mood of the times. One version was by Bing Crosby, and the other by the Harry James Orchestra featuring Kitty Kallen on vocals. It is the latter version that is heard in Endgame and the one that forms the basis of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate standard will find It’s Been a Long Long Time ideal for formal and informal concert performances. with both solo instrument and piano enjoying plenty of melodic interest. The writer, John Newton, led a dissolute life as a sailor in the slave trade for many years before marriage, along with a close encounter with death at sea, dramatically changed his perspective. He lived out his later years as a devout and charismatic clergyman in the English countryside, renowned for his direct and personal style. The words he wrote in Amazing Grace are an intimate retelling of his spiritual journey. The hymn was written in 1773, and was sung to many different melodies initially, but since the mid nineteenth century it has become most closely associated with the famous folk tune melody presented here, New Britain.This version is arranged as a solo for Tenor Saxophone with Piano accompaniment. The melody is played four times, each verse in a different style. Here, the famous main theme is arranged for Solo Tenor Saxophone and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet in Moscow in 1877 was not well received. The production was fraught with disagreements between choreographer and composer; the Russian audience were suspicious of the story’s Germanic origins and the music was regarded as too complex for ballet. Tchaikovsky did not live to see a triumphant revival production in 1895 that confirmed Swan Lake as one of the greatest ballet scores of all. Included in the single download are six pages of piano score and a separate two-page part for the solo instrument. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts, with tremolos and rich chords. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The song was originally in 6/8 but I have set it in 1/2 in order to get the pulse and phrasing I want. (Yes, 1 minim/half note per bar.) The original accompaniment was broken arpeggios, but now it is all about the rich new blocked chords. With repeats and a D.S. I have covered all 4 verses and bridges. Enjoy a fresh take on this forever classic. The piece was premiered in Paris in 1888, and underwent several revisions in subsequent years. My Saxophone and Me consists of fourteen short and delightful pieces written especially for absolute beginners up to students at elementary level. The book comes in two versions, one for B flat saxophones and the other for E flat instruments. However, for obvious reasons you cannot mix B flat and E flat instruments in the same group. The pieces are intended as supplementary material to your usual tutor books. The music can be used with any number of players and the pieces remain in the lower register. Several early pieces use only the notes B, A and G and the key of G major predominates. Six of the pieces use only half notes (minims) and quarter notes (crotchets). The low C, a tricky note for some beginners, has been avoided almost completely. On the one occasion it appears, the note C an octave above is given as optional. Although the pieces are arranged in approximate order of difficulty you can play them in any order you want, depending on the musical needs of the student. Your students are sure to enjoy these pieces, which are both easy on the fingers and easy on the ear! Several pieces have a few measures (bars) rest in the middle not only to give the player a break and add musical contrast but also to give the experience of counting empty bars during the music. When space allows, piano cues appear in the solo part. Some of the later pieces in the book have good performing potential and could be strung together in any order to create a small suite. Every piece has a short piano introduction so that the student can sense the tempo and musical style before playing. The keyboard accompaniments have been kept as simple as possible with the minimum number of notes. Dynamic markings (e.g. piano and mezzo-forte) are used from the start, but phrasing has been omitted from the solo part. This is because the teacher is usually in the best position to suggest phrasing within the physical capabilities of each student. Slurs have been employed sparingly and only when necessary. The publication consists of a teacher's book (18 pages) and a student's book (8 pages) both contained in the same pdf file. Lascia ch’io Pianga is a beautiful aria from Handel’s Opera Rinaldo The opera premiered in London in 1711 and during his lifetime was the most successful of Handel’s operas. However, following his death there were no further productions until a school in London revived it in 1933. Handel used the melody of Lascia ch’io Pianga in two other works, but it is the version from Rinaldo that has achieved a deserved place in the concert hall, and a starring role in films like Farinelli.This version of Lascia ch’io Pianga is arranged as a Solo for Tenor Saxophone and Piano and both parts are reasonably simple; the performance time is around three and a half minutes. The pdf file contains both the piano score and a separate solo part. Just the theme of the 1st movement of the Sonata #14, op. 27, no. 2 in C# minor - here transposed to D minor, half step up, to an easier comprehension. The tuplets and the piece were converted to a 3/4 time to make it easier for students and amateurs to read and play - 1 bar of the original were transformed into 4 in this arragement. Here the melody is played by the tenor sax and the accompainment by the piano.
