Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549204 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 56 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461855. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549204). Instrumentation: 2 Eb clarinets, 4 Bb clarinets, 2 bass clarinets. Arranged as a double quartet. Includes Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. and instrumental parts: 2 pg. Duration: ca. 3:00. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581881 Composed by John Gibson. Contemporary. 90 pages. JB Linear #3012617. Published by JB Linear (A0.581881). Klarifications for Clarinet Choir is a three movement piece for a large clarinet choir. It is set for Eb Soprano (one player), Bb clarinet 1-2-3, 2 alto clarinets, 2 bass clarinets, and Bb Contra. This would be best in a clarinet choir with at least two on a part in the Bb clarinet section. Here is what Margaret Thornhill wrote about this piece in The Clarinet magazine, June 2017: The dramatic first movement is a dialogue between an eefer (Eb clarinet) and the rest of the ensemble, incorporating paraphrases of excepts from Bach to Bizet. It is followed by a surprising second movement chorale with slap tongue, flutter tongue and finger popping intended to be individually miked. The final movement is an exciting montuno, including a section where each person can choose which riffs to play. The 1st movement, Canons Firing From an Ever Rising Staircase, Or, Heed the Effer's Frantic Calls To explain the title just a bit, the ever rising staircase is an aural trick that, if done precisely, sounds like the music keeps rising without really doing so. This was derived from what is called a Shepard's Tone. The canons firing are not cannons! The bass instruments play small sections of actual canons (like fancy rounds) written by J S Bach, Mozart, and others. Each time the solo Eb clarinet (the Effer) announces the coming canon firing in a frantic sort of way. The 2nd movement (Close Encounters with Basses) makes use of a number of unusual sounds on clarinet (or parts thereof) along with a few extended techniques that are fairly easy to play with the clear instructions provided. The altos, basses, and contra should be closely miked to be heard. The 3rd movement (Sometimes Free - A Montuno) starts off with a rich beat in the basses and gradually joined with the rest of the clarinets. In the montuno section there are 4 bar phrases each player can choose from to play during the 32 bars. They may choose what they will, either playing a different variation each time, using the same one each time, or choosing to not play for a particular 4 bar section. This is not a free improvisation, however! This is definitely for an advanced group of players. The 1st movement is also available separately. The sample recording uses Finale software in the 1st and 3rd movement, and John Gibson's recording of the 2nd movement.

Clarinet Choir - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Classical Period, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 26 pages. Published by Lisa Ochoco
Mozart wrote this Serenade for wind ensemble. Adagio is the 3rd movement, which features the oboe, clarinet, and basset horn as alternating soloists throughout the movement.
The beginning of this movement was played in the movie, Amadeus, which is where I heard it for the first time. After years of having this on my "to arrange" list, I can finally tick it off.
This arrangement for clarinet choir has the melody parts in Clarinets 1, 2 and 3. These can be played as solos, or not. The contrabass part is optional.
This would be a great piece for any occasion.

Duration: 5:00 with optional repeat. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring Bach composed a cantata called Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Though it is the 32nd cantata, it is listed as BWV 147. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is the 10th movement of the cantata. It was customary to use previous melodies as a basis for a new work - a practice called Cantus prius factus. So, the chorale melody for this piece is a historic tune called Werde munter, mein Gemüthe. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is customarily performed at weddings and during major church seasons such as Easter and Christmas. Bach Overview First, Johann Sebastian Bach may be the greatest composer in music history. Indeed, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. People are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. His most famous vocal works seem to include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, the St. John Passion and certainly the Christmas Oratorio are the most noteworthy.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and, above all, composers. Consequently, he first pursued a career as a church organist. As a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. He worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen for a while. Here he probably developed his organ style and, likewise, his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. This new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, in addition to his complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development, his sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.

It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now Tears from My Eyes: Mourning in the Rain (for Clarinet Choir).Tears from My Eyes music collection is very suitable and moving for funerals, memorials, church, or contemplative settings. Helpful hints: In addition to getting the counts down, even more important is to practice feeling the music collectively together because rigid counting takes away from the flowing emotive nature of the piece. There are actually 3 smaller ensembles within this piece that all three subgroups must musically move together in harmony, rhythm, and balance. When that is achieved, the music and harmonic overtones will be exquisite. The instrumentation is also so important because of the timbre that each instrument contributes to the ensemble. Musicality is key to this piece. This song is the title song on Tito Abeleda's album Mourning in the Rain released on 9/11/2019.Contact info: Tito AbeledaVisionary Quest Recordshttps://www.visionaryquestrecordsEmail: tito@visionaryquestrecords.comFollow Tito on Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/titoabeledaTwitter: https://twitter.com/titoabeledaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tabeledaYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/titoabeledaSpotify: http://bit.ly/TitoAbeleda-on-SpotifyiTunes/Apple Music: http://bit.ly/TitoAbeleda_iTunesPerforming Rights Organization is BMI.com.Customer Service: 800-925-8451

The Clarinet Polka or A Hupfata[1] (Polish Polka Dziadek, Estonian Vanaisa polka – Grandpa Polka) is a popular musical composition from the end of the 19th century. Since 1971 it has been used as an opener in Lato z Radiem − one of the most popular shows of Polskie Radio Program I.[2] The piece, performed (as its name implies) as a polka, has a simple and catchy melody, featuring a prominent extended eight-note arpeggio. It is typically performed in B-flat major. According to Polskie Radio Program I, the music was created in Austria by a composer named A. Humpfat.[2] Other sources claim that The Clarinet Polka was written under the name Dziadunio Polka by the Polish composer Karol Namysłowski.[3  This Advanced Intermediate Level arrangement for Clarinet Sextet/Choir is written for Eb Clarinet, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bb Clarinet, Alto Clarinet and Bass Clarinet plus Full Score.

Extinction Events by John Gibson Written for clarinet choir, it is a four movement work lasting about 11 minutes and is for very advanced players. The movements are: Buzzy Delights (Honey Bees), It Isn't Easy Being a Cuckoo, Jaguar Surprise, and Walrus Jump. Each movement imagines a different animal or insect living in its habitat as it gradually deteriorates. One might think this would be sad, violent music, but each earthly creature is shown in its musical habitat where it happily does what it does best....bees buzzing around flowers, cuckoos gently calling in the forest, Walruses jumping not so gracefully onto sea ice, Jaguars quietly stalking their prey. The habitat changes are depicted by gradual use of unstable scales, and the sometimes hidden ancient tune of the Dies Irae, the Day of Wrath. The point I wish to make is how humans must be watchful of wildlife habitats because we are all in this limited world together. Where wild creatures go, so do we. It was best said by Jane Goodall: Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved. The parts included are: Eb soprano clarinet, Bb clarinet 1-2-3, alto clarinet (with an alternate 4th Bb clarinet part), bass clarinet, and BBb Contra/EEb Contralto.

It is a duet for two instruments and band, often played with two piccolos, two clarinets, or two trumpets. It is a fun and twitter-y piece that is perfect for a light interlude in a full concert. This setting for clarinet choir by John Gibson includes solo parts for 2 Bb clarinets as well as 2 Eb clarinets. The Eb parts actually lay easier in the fingers. These parts can be mixed or matched as desired. It is for a full clarinet choir: clarinet 1,2,3 - alto clarinet or alternate 4th Bb part, bass clarinet, contrabass/contralto. .

Arranged by World Premier June 30, 2022 at International Clarinet Fest. Contemporary. 76 pages. JB Linear #649457. Published by JB Linear (A0.1044859). When I was given the composing project of a piece especially for the Zephyr Clarinet Choir of Portland, Oregon I wanted it to be specifically identifiable as a piece for that organization. After research I discovered that an ancient Greek and Roman god was named Zephros and I decided to compose around the god's various aspects. “Zephyros in my Garden†presents aspects of the Greek and Roman god, Zephyros. He was mostly the god of the gentle west wind, but he could also be not-so-gentle and a danger to sailors. He could be a horse, too! As a musician Zephyros was known to hang out with an ensemble of swans and sing cheeky songs. movements: 1. Aspects of Zephyros 2. Gentle West Wind Bringing Spring 3.Sailors Beware, Zephyros can be stormy 4. Sometimes Zephyros is a horse 5. Zephyros taking a walk in my garden 6. Zephyros and the swans sing a cheeky song As a composition for clarinets the piece uses a few “extended techniquesâ€, some of which the players may not have done before: using ancient pentatonic scales, double tonguing for very fast sections, quarter tone trills, finger vibrato, fall offs and slides, and finally, playing in a cheeky or sassy manner! (John Gibson) The recording is of The Zephyr Clarinet Choir at the 2022 International Clarinet Fest, conducted by Barbara Heilmair. It is set for Eb clarinet, Bb clarinet 1-4, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, contrabass/contralto.

The piece explores clashing harmonies bringing a unique interpretation and instrumental colour to this traditional folk song. Perfect piece for concert or open air performance.Based on the formally published Slave Song The Good Old Way (1867) the exact origin of the melody is unknown but research points heavily to being composed by an African-American slave. Canons Firing From an Ever Rising Staircase, Or, Heed the Effer's Frantic Calls This is the 1st movement of a piece for clarinet choir written by John Gibson called Klarifications. The complete is also available. This movement is set for solo Eb clarinet; Bb clarinets 1,2, and 3; 2 Alto clarinets (with alternate Bb parts); 2 Bass clarinets; Bb Contrabass clarinet (with an alternate Eb Contra Alto part). To explain the title just a bit, the ever rising staircase is an aural trick that, if done precisely, sounds like the music keeps rising without really doing so. Considering the Eb clarinet part, and the need for the Bb clarinets to carry the rising staircase, this is for an advanced group. It runs a little over 3 minutes in length. The recording is computer generated, although I plan to record a live version someday.

Regis Bookshar #710854. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108227). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Clarinet Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Clarinet Quintet, consisting of 5 Bb Clarinets and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Clarinet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1110886 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713181. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1110886). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Clarinet Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Clarinet Sextet, consisting of 5 Bb Clarinets, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages).
