Octavo. 4 pages. John Gardner #798452. Published by John Gardner (A0.1199384). Relatively easy, straightforward arrangement of the pretty Beach Boys classic, is voiced for (4) men, A Cappella. Tenor has the melody for most of the song, but tosses it to the lead part and baritone for a couple of measures each. This arrangement is very singable and pays tribute to the Beach Boys feel and harmonies. Even the intro is reminiscent of the guitar bell chords of the original. Perfect song for wherever a Summer ballad is needed.

Morley (A0.500712). In 2014 John Lewis launched a Christmas advertising campaign that melted hearts worldwide, featuring a song written by John Lennon performed by Tom Odell, Real Love. The song was originally recorded by Lennon in 1979 and 1980 and released posthumously in 1988. His demo recording was completed by his former Beatles bandmates (Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) as part of the Beatles Anthology project released in 1995. It is the last single by the Beatles to become a top 40 hit in the US, the last released record of new material credited to the Beatles, and the last to originate and be included on an album. This arrangement is faithful tribute to both versions, building on the emotional textures of the Odell version by including the additional second and third verses of the original. Published by Cesar Alejandro Carrillo (A0.881129). Liturgically, the text of Quem vidistis pastores works as an antiphon and as a response. In this version I have musicalized the corresponding text to the responsory, but adding the alleluia, which is typical of the antiphon. The motet passes in a pastoral atmosphere beholding the birth of Jesus. With this work, I have finally put music to the same set of texts used by Francis Poulenc for his Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël. The whole set is a tribute to his memory and his powerful influence on my training as a composer.
