Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.525316 By John David Morgan. By John David Morgan. Arranged by John David Morgan. Contemporary,Folk,Jazz. Individual part. 11 pages. John David Morgan #135855. Published by John David Morgan (A0.525316). A piece in the style of One Step Closer to Cool. If you pair the two titles the chuckle is: I was uncool. I got one step closer to cool. Now I'm back to uncool again:-) Musically there is some fun syncopation and plenty of harmonic twists and turns. It may even expand your harmonic vocabularly.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1283320 By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Derek Hasted. 20th Century,Pop. 28 pages. Derek Hasted #874514. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1283320). THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL - Great concert piece for 4 GUITARS or larger ensemblePrimarily for Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar only.Derek Hasted writes This is a concert crowd-pleaser perfect for intermediate or advanced intermediate guitarists! One reason ABBA songs are so memorable isn’t the strong melody line, it’s all the other clever harmonies and countermelodies that lurk just under the surface to make a crafted masterpiece. My arrangement uses guitar-friendly shapes to capture the whole song and many of the countermelodies that make the original such a great listen. The dynamics on the score tie in with the orchestration, so that the quiet sections are slow-moving and the louder sections are busy, adding yet more notes before the previous ones fade away. I’ve added just a little fingering here and there if there’s really only one place on the neck to play what’s on the page. Elsewhere, please choose the sweet spot that gives you, the player, the best mix of tone, sustain, playability and confidence.I hope you enjoy performing this as much as the audience will enjoy hearing it!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155054 By Louis Armstrong. By Bob Thiele and George David Weiss. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. 20th Century,Multicultural,Pop,Standards,World. Individual part. 8 pages. Richard Hirsch #755336. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1155054). Taking inspiration in Isreal Kamakawiwo’ole’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World mashup, I offer an arrangement in polyrhythmic 4/4 time of What a Wonderful World for solo acoustic guitar. The arrangement has an afro-flamenco character with two tiers of rhythm. Tier one is the normal 4/4 rhythm with accents at 1 and 3. Tier two consists of accents falling on beats 2 and 2& and 3& of the 4 beat measures. Tier two can be highlighted by clapping or tapping with a table knife on a bottle at beats 2 and 2& and 3&, with the strongest accent on 3& (an upbeat). The tune is really happy and up-lifting. If there are any little folks (kids two to four years old) around listening, they will have a hard time sitting still. My grandson (two and a half) really got going when I played it for him. I can hardly resist the urge to dance to the tune while playing myself! The arrangement is in the spirit of the Canarios by Gaspar Sanz for classical guitar and is meant to have the nature of a dance. The repetitive alternating thumb and index and middle finger cycle going through the broken chords with the melody woven in works to give the arrangement an almost hypnotic character. The fingering for the right hand is given in first section and is basically the same throughout the piece. The fingering for the left hand can, I believe, be easily figured out from the tablature. The arrangement is within the reach of intermediate students of the acoustic guitar; anyone who has mastered the basics of fingerstyle fingerpicking guitar, and can be played on both nylon and steel string acoustic guitars. The short and long glissandos and the arpeggios of natural harmonics resembling the kalimba (thumb harp) together with the drone effects of the enharmonic tones in the chords give an added dash of African spice to the piece.

Solo Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.866917 Composed by Bradford Werner. Instructional. Individual part. 122 pages. This is Classical Guitar #4715689. Published by This is Classical Guitar (A0.866917). Classical Guitar Technique: Essential Exercises, Scales, and Arpeggios (2019 Edition). Notation Only with Fingering, String Numbers, and Positions.122 Pages. By Bradford Werner.Includes: Practice Routines, Tips, YouTube Lessons (visit thisiclassicalguitar.com), 100 Open String Exercises, 120 Giuliani Arpeggios, Selected Scales (Major, Minor, 3rds, 6ths, Octaves, 10ths), Slur Exercises, Shifts, Finger Independence, Alignment, Stretch, Barre, Tremolo, Common Harmonics, Speed and Relaxation, and more. This book focuses on essential exercises for the development of classical guitar technique. All the exercises from the headings of the table of contents progress from easy to advanced in a progressive format. Although this is a book of exercises rather than a method, I have included many helpful tips throughout the book to aid students. As with all my materials, the video lessons are an added educational advantage.Intended for beginner to early-advanced classical guitar students (approximately RCM Toronto Grade 1-9). As a basic prerequisite students would have completed both Volume One and Two of my beginner method book series or an equivalent. There are a number of exercises in upper positions that include accidentals, therefore, additional reading experience is required if you wish to study the entire book. The inclusion of fingering, string numbers, and position marks should make the exercises easy to understand. The 100 open string exercises should be very accessible to beginners and advanced students alike.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.809110 Composed by Tony Benade. Instructional,Jazz,Latin. Individual part. 96 pages. Tony Benade #3573821. Published by Tony Benade (A0.809110). More… Jazz Licks at Your Fingertips is a sequel to Jazz Licks at your Fingertips This study contains over 80 jazz licks/phrases in several different keys. There are progressions on the ii7 - V7 in both major and minor keys. There are also major, minor 6th and 7ths as well as dominant, diminished and augmented chords. As you go on you will find licks on flatted and raised ninths, augmented 11ths and 13th chords. Most important however, are the Application Exercises. There are six jazz etudes which contain chord progressions found in many of the jazz standards. You will have the opportunity to use the licks in measures that deal with the chords that you have dealt with in the previous section. There are parts where you are asked to fill in your own licks in between the written melody. All the material that you have just worked on in the the last section can be used in each etude. By the end of the study, you can improve on the enitre song. It is a unique method that I have developed over the past 50 years. If you follow the method and work on all the exercises as directed, you will take your first steps in the Real way pros play jazz. There is even accompaniment provided for each etude. There are mp4s that are available at no extra cost if you have a device that will play them. There is also accompaniment provided at the end of the book if have musician friends play along with you. The process for obtaining the mp4s is explained at the beginning of the book under Application Exercises.

Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee arranged for 3 guitars (rhythm, melody & bass). This one came out a little trickier than I first expected, so there´s something to learn regardless of your playing level. This song is a good introduction to caribbean feel and groov. If you´re a beginner then the key to playing this arrangement is simplification - skip the small details and focus on the most essential stuff. The more advanced level = more details. I´ll cover it below for every part.Bass (the easiest part)The harmony of the song is Bm-G-A-D, one chord per bar. The bass is playing mostly rhythmic variations on the chord triads. If the main part is too difficult, then focus on just the first notes of the bars. Also take one groov at a time - you can use one groov throughout the song. When you feel confident with the one groov then take another one.If you want to see only the bass part, then click here: https://youtu.be/AfR3KnmemfERhythm (intermediate)The rhythm part features the same four chords - Bm-G-A-D on different positions and with different grooves. If you need to simplify then use open position chords and use one groove at a time.If you want to see only the rhythm part, then click here: https://youtu.be/mxT1ZLqmqzIMelody (advanced)The melody features lots of triplets and syncopations. When you´re a beginner, then just try to imitate the rhythm - you don´t have to play all the notes & rhythms. The same goes to all the legatos, slides and other embellishments. If you want to see only the melody part, then click here: https://youtu.be/A0gBfkV-F7o

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1327985 Composed by Bob Russell and Duke Ellington. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Jazz,Standards. Individual part. 1 pages. Christopher J. Malin #915991. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1327985). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Seldom heard standard in this style. Beautiful, instantly recognizable melody. One of Duke Ellington's finer pieces. This piece makes you stand out as a solo jazz guitarist of all idioms. Some chords are played as triads or dyads or eliminated, and single notes are used. I draw a line over the note if it's the high note of a chord or I use a dot if it's played as a single note, the chord is then in parentheses. I tend to use a minimalist style that keeps the important parts of the music. I realise there are 90 versions of this piece. But for the solo jazz guitarist this is the coolest out there! Hand written and tried and true. Sweep the Fmaj.7th and your guitar will get the right feeling of the clarinet line!

Solo Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.910911 Composed by Francisco Tarrega. Arranged by Zellev. Classical,Jewish,Musical/Show,Standards. Individual part. 1 pages. Zellev Music #6253151. Published by Zellev Music (A0.910911). Adelita is a charming mazurka written by Francisco Tárrega that has been recorded by many famous guitarists.the intended beats per minute of a particular tempo indicator was ambiguous at best. Tárrega could well have intended the tempo to be faster than what we today conceive of as Lento. Therefore, you may choose to play the piece faster than the 60 bpm I've listed, opting for a faster 80–90 in the Andante range.Adelita is deceptively simple. If you are a novice guitarist, you may feel it is within your reach based on hearing the first half of the song. Even if you've mastered barres, upon reaching measures 11 and 12, you may reach an impasse. Playing the slurs fluidly requires a well-developed little finger. Therefore, I recommend not trying to learn the piece until you've developed both comfort with barres and sufficient strength and flexibility in the little finger to play clear hammer-ons and pull-offs.

ISBN 9781619110991. 8.75x11.75 inches.Bill Bay asked me to write a follow up book to my last book, The Bluegrass Pickers Tune Book (20233). If you like Bluegrass music (232 songs) I'd recommend getting that book to add to your collection. The focus of this book, The Acoustic Source Book is on roots and old-time music. The book is focused on the time period from late 1800's until 1940's.There are a few songs from The Bluegrass Book that were too important to be left out. I decided not to use any patriotic and Christmas songs and came up with a list of about 400 songs which eventually was cut down to over 200. During the late 1800's and early 1900's there was an important evolution in American music; the birth of jazz, ragtime, and blues. This was also the period of the phonograph and early commercial recordings. Music from the Minstrel period as well as traditional songs were used as staple for the roots musicians. In the early 1900's there were rags, blues, gospel, Tin-Pan Alley, jug band, spiritual, old-time country and popular songs. I've tried to include some of the well-known songs from every genre to give you a big slice of Americana. There are some great songs that are popular roots, bluegrass and old-time songs today that have never been published. There are also great songs that are not well known that should be played and enjoyed.

Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899109). 2 pages; for solo classical guitar; published by Maggie Creek MusicRichard Strauss (1864 -1949) Strauss's music amounts to a huge body of symphonic and operatic work written over 60 years. Full of vitality, endlessly melodic, brilliantly orchestrated, it begins and ends in the romantic tradition, but for the most part expresses something more modern and individualistic, not without controversy in its time. Variation of style and structure is drawn from the descriptive (literary) nature of compositions, and an extraordinary inventiveness enlivens the scenes, moods and situations. Strauss said once that he produced music the way cows give milk, and indeed his music rarely seems contrived. The opera Strauss wrote 15 operas on a variety of subjects and across the whole spectrum of drama. He acknowledged being enchanted by the soprano voice, and his writing for it highlights many of the works, including Adriane auf Naxos (composed in 1912). The opera has been described as 'sparkling', which sums it up well, and passages influenced by Bach, Mozart, Puccini, and Wagner add to the interest. The storyline is a play within a play, the second part being the mythological 'Opera' staged in the story. The three pieces transcribed* are from this Opera. The guitar arrangements All classical guitar pieces are compromises. The instrument has only six strings, the left hand four fingers able to be used, and with the right hand its rare to use more than three fingers and the thumb. So, despite the amount of noise possible, it's inevitable that passages occur where either harmony, bass or fragments of counterpoint that would be beneficial are left out. In particular, the higher up the neck music is played the simpler it tends to be, if harder to play, and unless the low bass is an open string there wont be any. So I think the main part of attaining a fair transcription (better to be called an arrangement if the original musical structure is not strictly followed, as in this case) is determining how a good compromise can be reached. Melody, counterpoint, bass and main harmonies demand inclusion, and register is important. One may generally assume the original score can't be improved on. However, if the music may sound well on guitar, and the above elements can be incorporated without the playing becoming very difficult, something enjoyable to play and worthwhile listening to should be able to be achieved. Overture; 'A golden time …' Here the Mozart influence, better, inspiration, is wonderfully evident. A gentle waltz time (only the first section of the overture is transcribed) carries the colourful harmonies, strong melodic threads and connecting flourishes that stamp both pieces. The aria is alluded to in the Overture several times, which as you would expect, is intricately woven with the hints themes later to be established in the Opera. It has a kind of 'jazzy' freedom, and it's always miraculous to me that composition so involved can retain its musical line, here done in Strauss's inimitable way. The aria, sung not far into the Opera, has the perfect inevitability of Mozart, but again it is Strauss. As explained, keys have been changed to suit the guitar. Chorus and Aria This selection from the finale has features well worth trying to translate. The device of having a strong chorus, in the style of a Bach chorale, stated and then counterpointed by a solo voice in a restatement, is potent, and that in the opera the chorus (of the three nymphs) isn't immediately followed by the accompanying aria (of Ariadne) means the latter comes as a moment of surprising beauty. Neither parts are complicated, and lovely arpeggios, a feature Strauss's music, often impart the assured progressions. A problem was to capture the distinct register o.

The opening theme is followed by three variations and includes detailed fingerings in standard notation. There’s also a version available with TAB on this site. This ancient Irish melody can serve as a beautiful interlude during church services, gigs or wedding ceremonies. Here’s what one listener wrote of Wintersong:As a classical guitarist, I'm always on the lookout for new compositions. I have scoured the internet looking for new guitar music and Keith's Winter Song is the best thing I have seen in a year. If you like the sound of soothing classical guitar, I know you will like listening to this CD. If you’re a guitarist, I highly recommend buying the book of sheet music from Keith's website. I play at least a half dozen of these pieces at my gigs and I just love them. They range from easy to advanced intermediate in difficulty. I can't wait for Keith's next CD Songs of December which will be out for the holiday season!- Larry B.

This folio offers the classical or fingerstyle guitarist a body of ambient/pastoral pieces with a contemporary “new age†sound. If you’re a fan of Andrew York’s music, give these tunes a listen; you’re sure to find at least a few gems for your concert programs or gigs. Here’s what one listener wrote of the Wintersong recording:I have purchased almost 200 Cd's from CD Baby over the last few years, most recently were acoustic guitar. This is certainly in the top three, if not the best, of ALL the CD's I've bought… very pure acoustic sound. .. beautiful, flowing sound from the heart. I could listen to it over and over every day. Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1168489 Composed by Stephen Foster. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. Country,Folk,Instructional,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Chords/Lyrics. 1 pages. Brian Streckfus #768792. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1168489). If you are looking for a historically accurate version, I would just get Hal Leonard's publications of it. This version really sprinkles some razzle dazzle on an otherwise straightforward public domain song in G major, though it does not use the exact original melody.1. The original melody is NOT intact, this is ghostwritten. Notes were flatted to give a bluesier sound.  2. The chords are very modern, despite this song being written in the mid 1850s. 3. Grace notes added 4. Background harmonies now have more thought put into part writing, originality, being idiomatic on guitar, and making the melody the forefront. 5. Left hand fingerings added to aid in sight-reading.6. Letter names added to note heads to aid in sight-reading.7. I like versions like this because it could be used for a guitarist who doesn't sing, a guitarist who does sing, or a guitarist in a band. In otherwords, the more band members, the more you are just focusing on background chords, the more you are a one-person band, the more you have to take everything in. Tips:1. I arranged this so that students could see how blues scales work as I drenched this song in more blues than it originally had (Bb - B...F - F#...E minor blues and G major blues respectively.) You'll notice I don't stay on these dissonant blues notes for very long, that's why there's so many grace notes in this song.2. The D9 in measure 6 was originally a D7. Some extensions like this don't really change the scale in use.3. The Ab7 in measure 7 was originally a D7, making the Ab7 a tritone substitution. If you know the key of G major well, that chord should stick out like a sore thumb. 4. The Bb7 in measure 14 was originally a G7. I call these kind of substituitions mediant substitutions as they are similiar to jazz tritone substitions, but at a 3rd instead of a tritone.5. The Cm(maj7) was originally a C major chord. This is a modal borrowing composition technique of borrowing from the parrallel minor, in this case, G minor.

Individual part. 2 pages. Christopher J. Malin #928091. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1342617). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Beautiful, instantly recognizable melody. One of The Beatles finer pieces. Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars.I realise there are many arrangments of this great song. Give mine a try...I tend to play this song as a ballad. It's such a beautiful melody no need to rush it. Better to relish it! I love this tune! Hope you will too.

Solo Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.899137 Composed by Giulio Regondi. Arranged by Rod Whittle. Romantic Period. Individual part. 4 pages. Maggie Creek Music #4349081. Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899137). for solo classical guitar (tremolo) 4 pp (7 min.)GIULIO REGONDI (1823 - 72) Regondi was born in Switzerland, but lived in France and, mostly, the United Kingdom. He was a child prodigy of the guitar, with Fenando Sor dedicating a piece to him when he was just nine. He composed for the guitar and also the concertina. His works for solo guitar comprise etudes, a set of variations and some larger compositions. The tremolo section of the Nocturne (op.19) - subtitled 'Reverie' – must be some of the most wonderful music written for tremolo guitar. In the Nocturne it is split between sections of different style and content, but its effectiveness as a piece is fully satisfied without these interspersed parts, nice as they are, and its persuasive theme quite naturally repeats to end with a superb coda (which also finishes the actual Nocturne). The original score has no dynamics except for the end, and I have not added any. However, the piece is impossible to play without inferring some loudness, tempo and accentuation changes. There is that Romantic period element to it. I have added fingering. I like to settle into a barre position where possible – it often lets the bass accompaniment ring through (e.g. the D in the first few bars) and simplifies the playing. But it hardly needs saying that fingering, helpful if it is good, is a kind of curse if it is bad or just wrong, and it is never mandatory. It is always instructive with tremolo pieces to first play some of the top line (e.g. of the first few bars) without tremolo to properly reveal its melody. The style needs plenty of practice to achieve fidelity to this musical meaning; that is always the aim. Then listen carefully as the lower part is added. The bass is very important, as mentioned, but the harmonies of the broken chords are vital too. The Nocturne is brilliant counterpoint.

Individual part. 1 pages. Christopher J. Malin #899378. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1310263). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Seldom heard standard in this style. Beautiful, instantly recognizable melody. One of Bart Howard's finer pieces. He's from Iowa! There are many arrangements of this song. Give mine a go, it's a bit different. Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars.
