This is an instrumental solo arrangement of Something There created by Brad Powell for his performances in Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at the Disneyland Resort's Grand Californian hotel (Napa Rose restaurant), from 2019 to early 2024. It's an intermediate solo guitar arrangement, mixing jazz and classical techniques and chord voicings. You can hear the full arrangement performed in the YouTube link provided. NOTE: This instrumental arrangement is in standard notation (LYRICS are included for reference). It is also available as standard notation with TAB.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. It is often indicated to be an intermediate piece, but some versions are a little awkward for a piece at this level.This arrangement pays attention to left hand fingerings in order to smooth out some clunky sections. Bass notes are done away with in certain sections (with no loss to the musicality of the piece) to make it easier and more consistent. Hopefully this piece flows a little better than some others.The piece is set out tidily and logically on one page with one set of repeat bar lines. More fingerings are indicated than strictly necessary.The main tip for playing this piece relates to the unusual 9/8 tempo. Don't let it run away with you - play it solidly with a slowish pulse. That is the biggest challenge of this piece.

This song is a good introduction to caribbean feel and groov.If you´re a beginner then the key to playing this arrangement is simplification - skip the small details and focus on the most essential stuff. The more advanced level = more details. I´ll cover it below for every part.Bass (the easiest part)The harmony of the song is Bm-G-A-D, one chord per bar. The bass is playing mostly rhythmic variations on the chord triads. If the main part is too difficult, then focus on just the first notes of the bars. Also take one groov at a time - you can use one groov throughout the song. The parts are easy and suitable for an ensemble with limited experience or one with limited chances to rehearse. In a mixed ability ensemble, there’s something for everyone; in a school guitar group, the teacher can take the Guitar 6 part if no-one in the group is comfortable in fifth position - all the other parts are first position.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!
