A soothing and reflective fingerstyle classical guitar solo by Bradley Powell (The Candlelight Guitarist), from his album Beatitude Bridge. It is a moderate tempo, intermediate classical guitar level piece (though perhaps sounding more advanced). With classical style chord voicings in a modern folk-jazz chord progression. It switches between the keys of E major and E minor, then the bridge passes through E, D, and C major keys, returning to E minor/major. This sheet music is in Standard notation... ABOUT the composer: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Dedicated to the luminary Steve Cowan, ?empty mind, open heart? is a four-movement suite that centers around the intervals of a fifth and a tritone. Each movement is inspired by a quote from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. The opening movement is a meditation. The aleatoric rhythms and pacing of the notes are guided by the breathing of the performer, according to specific instructions in the score. Out of that atmosphere emerges a fluid, serene series of arpeggios in irregular rhythms in the second movement. Each new chord changes only one or two notes at a time in a gradual evolution over time. The third movement is a study in rhythm, sometimes dizzying. And the piece ends with a heartfelt, mostly quiet soliloquy.Dédiée à la sommité Steve Cowan, ? esprit vide, c?ur ouvert? est une suite en quatre mouvements centrée sur les intervalles d'une quinte et d'un triton. Chaque mouvement est inspiré d'une citation du Tao Te Ching de Lao Tseu. Le mouvement d?ouverture est une méditation. She has changed the world with her studies, and continues to do so with environmental and educational activism. Brad Powell met Ms. Goodall in the early 1990s, and has composed this piece in her honor. It is a relaxing waltz style, using intermediate-level classical guitar technique, with both folk and modern jazz guitar chord voicings. Various time signatures ( 4/4 5/4 2/4 3/4 ) Advanced level utilizing the entire fretboard with uncommon chord combinations, harmonics, etc. Two versions are provided; the first in standard notation with extensive fingerings given, and the second which also includes TAB.

Il cielo dietro il monte was composed in 2011 in Maccagno, Italy, as part of the soundSCAPE Festival's Fresh Ink project in collaboration with the Civico Museo Parisi-Valle. The piece shares the title of the work that inspired it, a painting by Maria Clara Quarenghi. Il cielo dietro il monte, or the sky behind the mountains, is a beautiful composition of blues and greens, light and dark. This is the solo arrangement of Be Our Guest created by Brad Powell for his performances in Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at the Disneyland Resort's Grand Californian hotel (Napa Rose restaurant), from 2019 to early 2024. It's an intermediate-to-advanced solo arrangement, mixing jazz and classical techniques and chord voicings. You can hear the full arrangement performed in the YouTube link provided. NOTE: This arrangement is in standard notation. It is also available as standard notation with TAB.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs.
