Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1243618 By Brad Rau. By Erik Satie. Arranged by Brad Rau. 20th Century. Individual part. 3 pages. Brad Rau #838582. Published by Brad Rau (A0.1243618). D'une Manière Très Particulière was originally written for solo piano and has been arranged for solo guitar by Brad Rau. Fingering suggestions have been added to make it easier to play. The original piece was notated without measures; however, measures have been added to make learning easier. The pieces also do not have a key signature. However, it seems to begin in C minor. It has been transposed to A minor to make it easier to play. This is from a set of pieces Erik Satie wrote in 1897 called Pieces Froides or Cold Pieces. The first set of pieces is called Airs à faire fuir or Tunes to Make You Run Away. This movement is called D'une manière très particulière or In a Very Unusual Manner. In these sets of pieces, Satie writes in the enigmatic he used to compose the Gymnopedies and Gnossienne composed earlier. This little-known piece is rarely played on guitar but works really well.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1348935 By Duke Ellington. By Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Standards. Individual part. 2 pages. Christopher J. Malin #933670. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1348935). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Seldom heard standard in this style. Beautiful, instantly recognizable melody. I think of this one as Duke Ellington's signature piece. This piece makes you stand out as a solo jazz guitarist of all idioms. Some chords are played as triads or dyads or eliminated, and single notes are used. I draw a line over the note if it's the high note of a chord or I use a dot if it's played as a single note, the chord is then in parentheses. I tend to use a minimalist style that keeps the important parts of the music. Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars. This is a jazz classic! When I hear or play this song I think of my parents dancing to Satin Doll at Navy Pier in Chicago with the Duke's orchestra! His intro opening lick on the piano to that generation is like Clapton's Layla riff to my generation!I love this tune! Hope you will too.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.982529 Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Daniel Clark. Romantic Period. Individual part. 13 pages. Daniel Clark #6441461. Published by Daniel Clark (A0.982529). The work draws on original and early piano editions as well as the first guitar transcription made by Severino GarciÌa Fortea who introduced key innovations familiar to most classical guitarists. Guitarists are encouraged to use this arrangement in consultation with the transcriptions by GarciÌa Fortea, AndreÌs Segovia, and Stanley Yates. Asturias is known for its abrupt chord interruptions which gives it its distinctive character. In the original, less well known, transcription for guitar by GarciÌa Fortea, these were plucked with the thumb and three fingers simultaneously. Segovia expanded the chord to a full six strings which is strummed. This six-string variation is now adopted as standard in nearly all classical guitar versions and the work of GarciÌa Fortea has all but been forgotten. Stanley Yates was aware of GarciÌa’s version, though seems to have been misdirected by Segovia and did not appear to get hold of GarciÌa’s work before making his own transcription. A key difference between the piano versions and guitar versions is the fact that the pedal note is missing immediately following the chords played on the first notes of the bar. This seems to be a pragmatic decision made due to the technical challenge of articulating a chord on the guitar and then immediately following up with a pedal note. It may have been also a decision to more strongly emphasise the chord. However, the composer clearly indicated that the chord should be as short as all of the other notes and hence it is reasonable to strike the chord and immediately lose it and start the pedal note.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1377888 By Aaron Larget-Caplan. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Classical,Early Music. Individual part. 5 pages. Aaron Larget-Caplan #962501. Published by Aaron Larget-Caplan (A0.1377888). Prelude N. 1 in C Major, BWV 846 by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan Includes: 2 pages of music, 1 page of notes, 1 page of alternate fingering. It is recommended to print double-sided so no page turns are required while playing.About this Arrangement â?? The regular arpeggio gesture is straightforward on piano, but on guitar the performer may have to do a few adjustments to keep this gesture clear. The performer should play the arpeggios over multiple strings as much as possible allowing the notes to ring beyond their notated values. The music can be realized in various ways; hence the fingerings are suggestions and some measures can be played without a Barre. For an ethereal conclusion, I raised the octave of the last measures.Prelude N. 1 in C Major (no sharps or flats) is the first of 44 preludes and fugues written by Bach for keyboard. It follows a progression of arpeggiated chords touching multiple keys as it climaxes on an exquisite pedal point in the Dominant before returning to C-major. One of the most often arranged of Bachâ??s compositions, it was most famously the basis of Ave Maria by Charles Gunoud. This arrangement of Prelude No. 1 in C major, WTC Book I, BWV 846 is featured on the 2022 album â??Godâ??s Time: Music of J.S. Bach on Guitarâ?? by Aaron Larget-Caplan on Tiger Turn (888-09) and streams worldwide. Online lessons are also available. The arrangements of Aaron Larget-Caplan have been called â??very importantâ? and â??a must haveâ?, with Soundboard â??strongly advocatingâ? for them â??to be performed by young guitaristsâ? and include music by J.S. Bach, John Cage, Isaac Albéniz, Franz Schubert, Reynaldo Hahn, and Alan Hovhaness.Â

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.985325 Composed by Jeremiah Lawson. Contemporary. Individual part. 9 pages. Jeremiah Lawson #6012233. Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.985325). Guitar Sonata No. 5 in G major is open G tuning. It is in three movements and performance time is abut 10 to 10:15. Movements 1 and 3 are to be played using a glass or bronze slide worn on the fourth finger. The movements are:1. Hobo Spider Blues2. Ragged) and Sor(e) (after Sor's Op. 29, 10)3. Ricardo de YakimaThe first movement is a set of bottleneck technique variations on an original blues theme. Each variation explores different timbrel possibilities such as ordinary tone, pizzicato, sul tasto, and ponticello before recapitulating the original form of the blues theme. The second movement reconceives Sor's study in E flat from his Op. 29 as a ragtime sonata form, with a developmental intrusion from another Sor etude. This ragtime sonata leads attaca into the final movement. The third movement is another set of variations, this time on a two-step dance theme cast in the form of a menuet. It was common in early 19th century guitar sonatas to end with a menuet and so I opted to end with a menuet with variations. In sharp contrast to my first guitar sonata, which drew inspiration from late Beethoven piano sonatas and late Shostakovich string quartets, the inspirations here were Muddy Waters, Fernando Sor, Scott Joplin, Johnny Cash, and Don Helms. This sonata was also recorded by Daniel Estrem on Estrem Plays Lawson, which was released through Magnatune in 2016. .

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.943123 By Cat Stevens. By Cat Stevens. Arranged by Tim Rushworth. Rock. Individual part. 2 pages. Tim Rushworth #4786903. Published by Tim Rushworth (A0.943123). This arrangement, for solo classical guitar would be suitable for a church service, concert or school assembly and could also be used as backing to a singer. The original introduction, bridge and ending (as played on piano on the recording by Rick Wakeman) have also been transcribed and included. I have used left hand fingering only where I felt it would help. I hope you enjoy my arrangement.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1265842 Composed by Olafur Arnalds. Arranged by Steve Gibb. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,New Age,World. Individual part. 4 pages. Steve Gibb #858597. Published by Steve Gibb (A0.1265842). My new arrangement of Olafur Arnald's mesmerizing and evocative piano piece from his 2018 album Re:member. The arrangement includes the guitar tablature and the while the suggested fingering makes it a little more challenging, the effort is well worth it as it retains the overall feeling of the original piano work. A great little encore piece which can be played on classical guitar or acoustic guitar.

Fernando Sor or Josep Ferran Sorts i Muntades (baptized 14 February 1778 – died 10 July 1839) was a Spanishclassical guitarist and composer. While he is best known for his guitar compositions, he also composed music for a wide range of genres, including opera, orchestra, string quartet, piano, voice, and ballet. His ballet score Cendrillon(Cinderella) received over one hundred performances. Sor's works for guitar range from pieces for beginning players to advanced players such as Variations on a Theme of Mozart. Sor's contemporaries considered him to be the best guitarist in the world,[1] and his works for guitar have been widely played and reprinted since his death.[2] Although modern classical guitar players usually do, Sor rarely used his ring finger and refused the usage of nails when playing.[3]As Sor's works were published in various countries, his name was translated, leading to variations in the spelling. Variations have included Joseph Fernando Macari Sors, Fernando Sor, Ferran Sor, Ferdinand Sor, and Ferdinando Sor. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Sor

Bach's most famous compositions. This study is challenging but beneficial for the left and right-hand techniques on the piano and the guitar. The key has been changed to E minor which allows the guitarist to use the full range of the guitar while maintaining the challenging aspects of this study. This is a great solo piece for advanced students.

Individual part. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #1021041. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1441062). Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Memories of the Alhambra) is a classical guitar piece composed in Málaga by Spanish composer and guitarist Francisco Tárrega. It requires the tremolo technique and is often performed by advanced players. The piece was written for and dedicated to Tárrega's patron Concepción Gómez de Jacoby in 1899, commemorating their visit to the Alhambra palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain. It was originally titled Improvisación ¡A Granada! Cantiga Árabe. It became known through an early 20th-century publication edited by Tárrega and dedicated as an homage to the French guitarist Alfred Cottin.Performance notesThe piece showcases a challenging guitar tremolo, wherein a single melody note is plucked consecutively by the ring, middle and index fingers in such rapid succession that the result is an illusion of one long sustained note. The thumb plays an arpeggio-pattern accompaniment simultaneously. Many who have heard the piece but not seen it performed mistake it for a duet. The A-section of the piece is written in A-minor and the B-section is written in the parallel major (A-major).Arrangements:Ruggiero Ricci arranged this piece for solo violin and often performed it as an encore.Chris Freeman and John Shaw recorded the song for their album Chris Freeman and John Shaw (May 1981, EMI Custom Records YPRX 1828, MAC 126).Nana Mouskouri recorded a vocal version for her 1989 album Classical. Sarah Brightman recorded a re-adapted vocal version for her album Classics.Alex Jacobowitz frequently performs a version of the song on his marimba and xylophone. He recorded it for several of his albums: Spanish Rosewood (1996), The Art of Xylos (2002), and Aria (2010).Luiza Borac arranged this piece for solo piano on her 2014 CD Chants Nostalgiques (Avie AV-2316).Xavi Ganjam made a special arrangement for sitar on his EP Soham (2019, Ganjam Records, Spain).Italian violist Marco Misciagna published the arrangement of this piece for solo viola.Soundtrack use:Recuerdos de la Alhambra has been used as title or incidental music in many films, including the soundtrack for René Clément's Forbidden Games (as played by Narciso Yepes), for The Killing Fields (under the title Étude as performed by Mike Oldfield), and in the films Sideways and Margaret.Performed and arranged by Jonathon Coudrille, it was used as the title music for the British television series Out of Town and a version performed by Pepe Romero was used as incidental music in The Sopranos episode Luxury Lounge. Gideon Coe on BBC Radio 6Music uses this tune as a musical background at approximately the half-way point of his evening weekday show. A sung version appears in the Studio Ghibli film When Marnie Was There. It is also the theme used for Philip II of Spain in the 4X strategy game Civilization VI, with the track progressing from a simple guitar arrangement to an entire orchestral performance as Spain advances through the ages. The theme was part of the soundtrack and storyline for the eponymous 2018 Korean television series Memories of the Alhambra.

Guitar - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

This Asturias version is arranged based on the original piano version without changing the typical guitar version's key, Em. Therefore, if you have already learnt the regular version of the piece, you wouldn't have to do much more of the extra work in order to play this version. The overall concept of this specific version is to capture the impressionism aspect of the piece rather than the guitaristic stand point. This, when played properly, gives you a serenity and impressionistic atmospheric aspect of Albeniz music in general.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.985320 Composed by Jeremiah Lawson. Contemporary. Individual part. 8 pages. Jeremiah Lawson #5370923. Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.985320). This is a single-movement, 8 page solo guitar sonata in F minor that I composed in 2000. My main inspirations were the late piano sonatas of Beethoven (especially Op. 111) and the late string quartets of Shostakovich (particularly No. 13). This is a very demanding work to play. Prescribed tempo should be no LESS than 152 bpm. The work is a traditional sonata form and includes large stretches as well as chords and melodies in harmonics played over continuously moving bass lines using conventional tones on the lower strings. .

All of the solos are presented in standard notation only and played on authentic reproductions of period instruments on the books online companion recording. Author Joseph Mayes plays works by well-known guitarist-composers Carulli, Coste and Giuliani as well as the lesser-known but deserving Kathleen MavoureenRomanza by Frederick N. Crouch arranged by Charles de Janon, and Felix Arndts Nola, one of the eras most popular ragtime piano themes, here transcribed and arranged by William Foden and the author.
