Two trumpet soloists are featured in one of the mariachi variations of the ride playing the original harmonized triplet-filled variation of the theme. Opening with a brief intro based on the main theme, low voices lead the first section and pass to the high voices in the second. Middle voices lead the 2nd theme and a back-and-forth leads the 3rd theme back to the main theme, this time passing through the various voices.

This beginner band arrangement utilizes a lot of repetition, making this piece quite easy to learn. Each variation uses different combinations of instruments to create variety. As is traditional in the folk song, with each repetition one more note is removed from the song, to be replaced by random auxiliary percussion instruments, the more bizarre the better. All comes together to create a light, easy-to-learn song with fun and interest for the beginner percussion players in your group.

No tenor saxophone or rhythm percussion parts.This piece was arranged for a mixed grade and level band with no rhythmic percussion. It gives each instrument group a chance to play melody. Songs include: Hot Cross Buns, A Tisket A Tasket, London Bridge, Doggie Doggie, Merrily We Roll Along/Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.Rehearsal Notes: Each melody is sectioned by double bar lines and rehearsal marks. You can have the students identify each section of melody and write in the name for it. Bass guitar and baritone/euphonium can play the trombone part. .
