In a soulful manner, the piece begins with the familiar song When Peace Like a River. This soulful hymn insists on finding peace, regardless of the world’s sorrows. The music then moves to a majestic trumpet processional. Entitled Soulful Peace, this tune honors those who made it possible for us to feel peace: parents, caregivers, family members, mentors, teachers, friends, and veterans who have served our country. Whether we feel the soulful melody in honor of them or in their memory, they remain an important part of our peace. After shifting to a calming woodwind verse, the processional then crescendos to a very emotive, full band verse. After the climax, the processional settles and gives way to a delicate chorus of It is Well With My Soul. The hymn tune begins delicately in the flutes, yet the brass echo the stately processional. The hymn majestically builds toward its own climax, accompanied by a trumpet fanfare. This triumphant piece reminds us that it can indeed be Well With My Soul!.

Soul Limbo is the seventh studio album by the American R&B band Booker T. & the M.G.'s, released in 1968 on Stax Records. The title track is perhaps best known in the UK as the theme tune for BBC Television's cricket coverage and later for Test Match Special. It features a marimba solo by Terry Manning and cowbell by Isaac Hayes (apparently captured in one successful take!) It references the Trinidadian dance and game The Limbo, which had a surge of popularity in the United States from the mid-1950s onwards. The song makes use of a common chord progression that was featured in such 1950s and 1960s hits as La Bamba, Louie Louie, and Wild Thing and this arrangement includes an open repeat to accommodate several soloists, as well as a separate drum solo spot, as desired.

When I arranged this, I only had early elementary clarinet players so that part is entirely written below the break. It can be taken up an octave for more advanced players. There is a flute solo for your best flute player, it could also be omitted if necessary. The mallet part could also be omitted in a pinch. It Is Well With My Soul is a hymn penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. First published in Gospel Songs No. 2 by Ira Sankey and Bliss (1876), it is possibly the most influential and enduring in the Bliss repertoire and is often taken as a choral model, appearing in hymnals of a wide variety of Christian fellowships. Horatio Spafford's original lyrics are included below. The hymns are scored in four parts and could be used with virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. They are presented in a set of three books and include full four-part instrumental scores plus separate parts in a variety of useful transpositions. Parts 1 and 2 (soprano and alto) are provided in B flat, E flat and C (8ve higher than concert); Part 3 (tenor) in B flat (9th above concert), E flat, F and C (bass clef) and Part 4 (bass) in B flat, E flat and C. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. My Cherie Amour is a 1969 song by singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. The song reached number 4 on the Billboard pop chart in August to become Wonder's third Top Ten hit. Motown songwriters Henry Cosby and Sylvia Moy collaborated on the song with Wonder; Moy came up with the intriguing title, a combination of English and French in a manner reminiscent of the Beatles' Michelle which was a massive hit in 1966. The song entered British pop charts in late July 1970, and five weeks later it had again hit number 4. Portions of the song were sampled by British DJ Philip George for his single Wish You Were Mine which topped the UK Dance Chart in 2014, proving the enduring quality of this lovely song, arranged for concert band in a gentle cha-cha style with short solos for trumpet and flute.

The hymns are scored in four parts and could be used with virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. They are presented in a set of three books and include full four-part instrumental scores plus separate parts in a variety of useful transpositions. Parts 1 and 2 (soprano and alto) are provided in B flat, E flat and C (8ve higher than concert); Part 3 (tenor) in B flat (9th above concert), E flat, F and C (bass clef) and Part 4 (bass) in B flat, E flat and C. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible.
