For the most satisfying sound you’ll need to get a good balance between each part possibly with an emphasis on the melodic line. If you have a non-standard ensemble, you can pick 'n' mix as required. Tacet sections (e.g. a brass or trombone tacet in quiet passages) can be easily created with the aid of a pencil. For example, in the audio sample you’ll hear that the woodwind alone has been given the melody beginning in measure 24. This tune was composed by Philip Paul Bliss (1838-76); an American writer of hymns and a Gospel singer. In the 2nd verse, the melody is taken up by the Trombones in a very easy comfortable range. The Descant part is played in the 3rd Verse at the change of key; A flourish of Woodwind, Trumpets, and Horns finishes with a rousing climax in the final chords. The beauty of this arrangement is that it can be performed with just the strings, woodwinds or the brass section or any combination. Just percussion might sound a little thin. The newly reformed ensemble premiered Back in the Saddle in their first Winter concert after regrouping.

It then blossoms into a brass choir before ending with a grand march, in which the processional melody and Africa are played together. An easy piece that sounds great!
