This advanced version of the NATIONAL ANTHEM has many familiar harmonies and walking bass lines, but I have added a few new musical items I think you will enjoy. For one thing, I put a big emphasis on FLAG WAS SITLL THERE!. You are welcome to use your own percussion parts as the ones I have written (with the exception of the mallets) are pretty much traditional. Instrumentation: picc, flute, oboe, bassoon, clar. 1,2,3, bass clar, alto 1,2, tenor, bari, tpt 1,2,3, horn 1,2,3, trombone 1,2,3, baritone (both TC and BC parts), tuba, mallets, perc (snare, bass drum and crash cym)The MP3 recording was created with the FINALE sounds. Naturally, it does not reproduce MARCATO style unless I input input all quarters as dotted 8ths. Actually, I start the piece CANTABILE and switch to MARCATO at and the rocket's red glare. I never could get the percussion sounds I wanted so I entered the snare roll as individual notes. Thanks.

Published by Nagamon Publications (A0.1472273). Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 – 8 September 1949) was a German composer and conductor best known for his tone poems and operas. Considered a leading composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras, he has been described as a successor of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Along with Gustav Mahler, he represents the late flowering of German Romanticism, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style.Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose or The Rose-Bearer), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac.In 1945 Strauss allowed an orchestral Rosenkavalier Suite to be published, but apparently was not involved in creating it. It is likely that conductor Artur Rodziński arranged it, as he conducted the suite's first performance, in October 1944 by the New York Philharmonic.The suite begins with the opera's orchestral prelude, depicting the Marschallin's and Octavian's night of passion (vividly portrayed by whooping horns and saxophones). Next comes the appearance of Octavian as the Rosenkavalier, depicted in tender music; the sight of him looking so young makes the Marschallin realise that he will soon leave her for a younger woman. There follows the duet between Octavian and Sophie – in which their love for each other becomes ever more obvious, but this is abruptly interrupted by the discordant music associated with Ochs's clumsy arrival. Next the violins tentatively introduce the first waltz, followed by another given out by the solo violin, before the whole orchestra settles into waltz mode. A general pause and a violin solo leads into the nostalgic music where the Marschallin sadly realises she has lost Octavian. Then comes its ecstatic climax. The work closes with a singularly robust waltz, depicting Ochs at his most pompous, and a boisterous coda newly composed for the suite.The PDF contains the Full Score and a full set of parts.

Since I was a child I've looked up at the sky and seen a world full of wonder, beauty, and mystery. The same wonder that filled my heart when I was in elementary school still takes hold when I look up now, decades later. I chose the formation of things for a specific reason. When I was a kid I had a habit of asking my parents where everything came from. It wasn't enough that a star was there, I needed to know how it got there and if possible why it was there. As I grew up I developed an immense appetite for almost all things science and history and with that came some of the answers I needed. The reality of how these things came to be was so much more interesting and astounding than my imagination that all these years later I am still captivated by the idea of an exploding star or the Big Bang. So lets take a journey, you and I. First we'll see the death of an immense star and watch as its own gravity rips it apart and forms a black hole. We'll see it feed on matter and light around it until it too finally dies. Next we'll go back 13.7 billion years and watch as tiny particles dance in and out of existence in the endless nothingness that once was. We'll see one of these tiny bits expand in an instant and give rise to everything that ever has been or will be. Watch hydrogen form and gravity pull it into the first stars. Those stars will form galaxies and we'll see glimpses of the Universe as it exists now. Finally, we will travel to the end of time, a trillion years or more into the future. There we will witness the dissipation of the galaxies, the death of stars, and the final moments as even tiny electrons are pulled apart into the nothing from which we all came. Parts of this piece are violent, but we will see that at the end of time, the formation of nothing is just as beautiful as the formation of a star. Everything has its time and everything ends. Other than the Beatles, it was the first type of music that inspired me to figure out what they were playing. My favorites were Yes, ELP, and Kansas among others. The piece is marked AGGRESSIVE but intentionally does not have a tempo marking. I wrote it at 180 bpm but can be effective slightly below that but I would not attempt it much faster. This piece will greatly challenge ALL of your players. I'm sure that they, and your audience, will have an exhilarating experience performing this piece.Finally, someone is going to ask “What does ‘Metallic Khatru’ mean?†Nothing. I just liked the name.NOTE - This version requires that the score be printed with Legal size paper. The parts are printed in Letter size. In my experience, this was the most common for US groups to be able to print. - There is another version that has the score in Tabloid & Concert size if that fits your needs better. But it also stands as a piece on its own.This piece uses angular rhythms, disjunct melody lines, and big chords to convey what the color red means to me. There are moments of intricate and independent percussion lines that swell into the full band acting as percussion with short, crisp notes on their instruments as well as moments of dark wind chords. Planetarium is a progressive piece of concert band literature utilizing frequent meter change and the use of piano and electric bass throughout (slap technique required). Thick harmonies and creative chord progressions make this an exciting piece to play and teach. Electronic drum machines were the inspiration of most of the percussion parts. My goal was to get the feel of a drum pad using everyday percussion instruments. There is also a funk groove created by the use of 3 different sized muted triangles. The piece can be played with 10 percussionists (plus piano and electric bass). The winds and brass are also involved as they get to clap, stomp they’re feet, and tap pencils as part of the various grooves. There are suspended chords through creating a feeling of uncertainty. I have also included an optional space for improvisation to one of the groove sections. You band will enjoy every part of this progressive, hip, funky, original composition.

The inspiration, and title, of this work is derived from the mythical phoenix. The phoenix is a bird with colourful plumage and a golden tail. There are many variants on the colours depending on the legend, which include scarlet, purple, blue, and green. According to the legends, the phoenix's cry is a beautiful song. The legends also tell how the phoenix builds itself a nest towards the end of its life. At the end of its life cycle, the phoenix and its nest burn away until both are reduced to ashes. From the ashes, the phoenix is reborn.

John Ivor Holland #1031902. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1452596). In the mid 1960s, Roy Castle had a series of variety shows on BBC Television and Arthur Wilkinson was his musical director. On one of the shows, the celebrity guest was ballet star Doreen Wells who asked if she could dance to music of the Beatles. It fell to Wilkinson to arrange some of the hit songs for use by a ballerina. He hit on the idea of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as a model; it was so popular that further movements were added for an EP recording and the complete Beatlecracker Suite is the result. The EP was issued throughout the world and was to be followed by an album if it did well enough, but it appears there was none. The movements are:1. Miniature Overture (Help!)2. March (When I'm 64)3.
