This piece is elegant and suited for Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and of course, Marching Band.The piece is one minute long and is meant to be suited next to other Egyptian features, such as the other movement of The Sands of Time. In the second movement of The Sands of Time, we further into Egyptian mythology with a cross arrangement of Go Down Moses, an African American Spiritual about the Harriet Tubman, whose codename was Moses among the slaves at the time and Aquarium, by Camille Saint-Saens from Carnival of The Animals.At the surface level, the concepts of these pieces have nothing in common, but musically, their melodies are quite similar. This is a basic straight-ahead arrangement of the Graduation Song from Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. It is a quick learn, and although it looks easy at first glance, it should sound great with any size band or string group, second year through professional. I have added a string score and parts in the PDF bundle. These parts may be performed as a string ensemble or with the band resulting in an orchestra format. The beauty of this arrangement is that it can be performed with just the strings, woodwinds or the brass section or any combination. Just percussion might sound a little thin. If there is a large group graduating, everyone does not have to play the whole time. Enjoy.

Given the original instrumentation and label as a chamber piece in Grainger's original publication, this transcription is taken directly from Grainger's four-some edition of 1912, transposed down a step from G to F major. It is scored to best depict the light (and sometimes percussive) quality of the piano along with the lyrical flow of the strings and the general character of chamber music. Ultimately, the room music quality of the original shines through in this skillful transcription while depicting the spirit of the piece in a way that Grainger might have chosen.
